packomanhi guys
I am having trouble accessing my wiki with apache-login as admin
if I remember correct the name is 'admin' right?
from the template login it worked fine
do I have to add anything to .htaccess?
just tried it with my dev-wiki (which is essentially a mirror with template login) and there it works fine
so it isn't the password I have forgotten
[08:21]
Babarcheck that the admin user exists in the .htpasswd file [08:28]
packomanok. it doesn't
can I manually add it?
I think I read somewhere, that the file is overwritten(?)
and how do I create the password for it?
ok. nevermind. i got it to work by copying a known ciphered password from another user
[08:29]
MichaelDaumCDot, SvenDowideit: how do we get this foswiki GA running? what about the current foswiki members as listed on http://foswiki.org/Community/CurrentFoswikiMembers? they sort of need to be contacted [08:32]
packomanthanks [08:32]
Babarpackoman: for the record, you can use htpasswd to manipulate htpasswd files
like, htpasswd /path/to/your/.htpasswd admin (admin being the user)
[08:38]
packomanah. damn. I had completely forgotten about that - newb-error. Thanks for clarifying [08:39]

MichaelDaumArthurClemens, what kind of grid system do you use in BaseSkin?
i.e. which classes do you use?
it might make sense to standardize so that plugins can use grid layouts independent of which skin it is.
[10:25]
ArthurClemenscurrently no grid yet. only responsive design with media queries. I have to dive into html5 columns yet [10:27]
MichaelDaumk
got a simple selfmade one based on %
[10:27]
ArthurClemensmy first experiments with html5 columns tought me it is not that easy
perhaps I misunderstand
I used to use yahoo grids, but that is discontinued
[10:28]
MichaelDaumthere are two requirements: one for designing foswiki in terms of templating. the other is make it easy for wiki users to use a grid inside the topic text area.
while these overlap they are not identical
for instance easy-to-understand class names
amount of required markup
number of classes to assign to a single column
e.g.
[10:29]
ArthurClemensright [10:31]
MichaelDaumclass="column width_6 prefix_1" ... ugh
MichaelDaum been discussing this on the wikifest in berlin as well with the tiki guys ...
[10:31]
ArthurClemenswhat do you think of http://cssgrid.net/ ? [10:34]
MichaelDaumwhat I have right now is a 12 column fluid grid that goes like <div class="natGrid"> <div class="natCol6">...</div> <div class="natCol6 last">...</div></div>
yes cssgrid.net is nice though px based
I went some way with http://kflorence.github.com/flurid/ but abandoned it as well
as well as http://fluid.newgoldleaf.com/, http://www.1kbgrid.com/, http://978.gs/, http://960.gs/, http://baselinecss.com/
[10:34]
FoswikiBot[ The 1KB CSS Grid by Tyler Tate :: A simple, lightweight approach ] [ 978 Grid System for Web Design ] [ 960 Grid System ] [ Baseline - a designer framework by ProjetUrbain.com ] [10:38]
MichaelDaumthe other difference between grid4templating vs grid4users is: pixel accuracy or allow some sloppiness [10:40]
***packoman has joined #foswiki [10:40]
MichaelDaumthen I went and analyzed real world sites, how they make use of grid systems
in their production site
[10:41]
packomani am a little confused about where to set the ATTACHFILESIZE [10:42]
ArthurClemensMichaelDaum: I am curious to see your solution [10:42]
packomanfrom what I found online I thought it would be in Main/SitePreferences [10:43]
MichaelDaumI came to the following solution: use more traditional div'ing for the templates; have a simple & easy to use for wiki users [10:43]
packomani.e. add something like: Set ATTACHFILESIZELIMIT = 100000 [10:43]
MichaelDaum^^ simple & easy to use grid for wiki users [10:44]
packomanbut that doesn't change anything. Now I found the setting inside System/DefaultPreferences
so should i stomp on it?!
or is that to be understood as basesettings, which are modified elsewhere
?
[10:44]
MichaelDaumpackoman, dont touch System.DefaultPreferences. there should be a bit of docu at its top where to override these: in Main.SitePreferences [10:45]
............ (idle for 55mn)
ArthurClemensMichaelDaum: simple and easy to use for wiki users: using macros? [11:40]
MichaelDaumArthurClemens, could be though not that necessary
maybe thats a cool idea: %STARTGRID{columns="..."}% %COLUMN{width="..." border="..."}%... %ENDGRID%
[11:41]
ArthurClemensusers probably don't think in terms of grid
just columns
%STARTCOLUMNS{}%
then width could be set automatically based on the number of COLUMNs
other stuff I am missing are classes for form feedback like errors and hints. I have them in FormPlugin but these things also occur without the plugin of course
ArthurClemens is off in a meeting

packomanok. so I figured out that the ATTACHFILESIZELIMIT needs to go into: Main/SitePreferences
for me the question remains what's the difference between System/PreferenceSettings and Main/SitePreferences
because adding it to System/PreferenceSettings doesn't change anything
[13:30]
***foswiki_irc2 has joined #foswiki [13:32]
Lynnwoodpackoman: Main/SitePreferences has precedence over System/PreferenceSettings
The intent is that System/PreferenceSettings is the distributed default settings but SitePreferences is for setting local settings so that they won't be over-written in upgrades
So, if a particular preference is set in both places, the one in SitePreferences will take precedence
[13:33]
packomanok. but the what is System/DefaultPreferences for?
it's all a little confusing...
[13:35]
Lynnwooduh-oh... ;-)
guess i need to check up on that myself. Something sounds news.
that does sound a bit confusing
[13:35]
packomanhaving default settings and settings to overwrite them does make sense. but with three settings pages, I get a bit lost... [13:37]

MartinCleaverIs there a control for Foswiki forms that allows someone to page and add records?
I see http://www.trirand.com/jqgridwiki/doku.php?id=wiki:navigator which has "Add"
and http://foswiki.org/Extensions/JQGridPlugin which seemingly doesn't
and http://wiki.jqueryui.com/w/page/34246941/Grid which looks like it will become an almighty replacement
[13:42]
MichaelDaumMartinCleaver, not implemented.
you will have to use normal foswiki means to create a new record
[13:43]
foswiki_irc2does somebody know this problem? Foswiki detected an internal error - please check your Foswiki logs and webserver logs for more information. Can't locate Netpath in @INC (@INC contains: E:path . C:path C:path C:path E:path E:path-x86-multi-thread E:path E:path) [13:45]
MartinCleaverMichaelDaum: thanks...
at the moment I am creating a pop-up that shows the formCreator - but of course my table (based on http://foswiki.org/Extensions/MultiTopicSavePlugin) doesn't update - because it doesn't watch the data source.
I really like the wiki syntax of MultiTopicSave, but its lack of an input method for "add new" is really quite sucky.

MartinKaufmannI don't get any errors in the console.
MichaelDaum: Is there a (simple) way of disabling the autosubmit functionality? I could live with having to click submit again.
[14:02]
MichaelDaumnope
if autosubmit does not work, then theres something blocking it from being their, like a javascript error.
[14:03]

MichaelDaumand if theres a javascript error, theres more errors even without autosubmit [14:04]
