***GithubBot has left [01:01]
gac410CDot, if you are reviewing the logs - I think my fix still needs work - The thead / tfoot are now correct, but bold cells anywhere in the table are sortable. I don't think that's right.
correction - the *first* bold cell becomes sortable. If there is a traditional header, things are okay. But if the table has no headers, and a cell elsewhere in the table is bold, that cell becomes sortable.
I believe that we only want the sort hooks on real thead or tfoot rows, not embedded elsewhere.
[01:15]
CDot - figured it out, will commit another fix and testcase [01:26]

i've just cleaned up a broken commit i made to store2
but i presume you're a more sensible person than i, so will be pushing your branch?

gac410Okay - A few hints in the task and I'll try to work on it. Opening a task now re: Foswiki:Support/Question917 I'll try to get that one fixed for 1.1.4 [14:33]
FoswikiBothttp://foswiki.org/Support/Question917 [ Question917 ] [14:33]
gac410Bah - simple error in 11180 - need trailing slash in url for parser to figure it's a subweb name and not a topic name. [14:40]

gac410Any concerns about creating a DefaultWebStatistics that can be %INCLUDEd from the WebStatistics topics - Ending the included section with the | Table | Header | seems to work fine.
If we are going to suggest an upgrade of stats topics, might as well make it tailorable.
[15:02]
pharveygac410: sounds reasonable [15:03]
gac410It seems to work - The | table header| is included and the <!-- marker line gets automatically inserted in the right place. Had to move the notes to the top of the topic behind a twisty. [15:04]

One difference - I think we still have to actually ship the WebStatistics topics - absence of the topic is used to control auto stats generation - I think.

gac410Given that we have instructions "Do not edit this topic" for the WebStatistics topics, should we restrict to AdminGroup updates by default? Hm.. .Though that would also prevent non-Admins from running Statistics script. [15:31]

SvenDowideitMichaelDaum: dumb question - i know CDot will be biking it, but how are you planning to get from 'otel to cern?
or are you not staying there where cdot is ?
SvenDowideit notes that while i thought micha had the same hotel, he's now not listed that way
same q for Oli.K - i've still not booked somewhere - am still considering what, when and how
as it might make sense to me to train in late thursday evening... maybe, perhaps
and that makes me lean more towards simple transport options, so in genf
and with that, he dissappears with the kids to dinner :)

***packoman_ has joined #foswiki [18:39]
packoman_Sorry but I need to ask another perl-question, since I've been trying to resolve this the past hour... [18:49]
gac410no need to apologize - most of us have perl questions now and then. [18:50]
packoman_I need to pass multiple hashes to a subroutine. already figured out that I need to use hashes for that
so here's what I got
createFinalHash( \%newBibtexCodeStringHash, \%oldBibtexCodeStringHash );
sub createFinalHash{
my ( $newBibtexCodeStringHash, $oldBibtexCodeStringHash ) = @_;
...
[18:50]
gac410ugh. I always get into trouble with this. My least favorite topic ;-) [18:51]
packoman_so \%someHash is the reference right? [18:52]
gac410I think that $newBibtex... is a hash reference, not a hash. So you need to dereference them with $newBibtex->{...} [18:52]
packoman_I am getting the error: newBibtexCodeStringHash" requires explicit package name ... [18:53]
gac410Or ... cast it as a hash %$newBibtex... I never can get this right - need Babar :-D [18:53]
packoman_which is strange as I creat %newBibtexCodeStringHash above it.
if i take the function call out of the code everything works fine...
[18:54]
gac410This is one of the cases where I try to find another example passing the hash to a function. I never get it right. [18:55]
packoman_well out side of the function it's a hash. inside, since I am passing a reference, I thought I would need to put $newBibtexCodeStringHash
hehe. jupp. I've been searching for that example quite some time now :)
[18:55]
gac410I have an example in ImmediateNotifyPlugin. Hash passed as \%userHash. . .. function says $userHash = shift; then
foreach my $userName ( keys %$userHash ) {
[18:58]
packoman_ok. so it seems to have to do with creating the reference, as this:
my $newBibtexCodeStringHashRef = \%newBibtexCodeStringHash;
already produces the error:
Global symbol "%newBibtexCodeStringHash" requires explicit package name at ...
any ideas?
[19:02]
gac410no idea.
It almost seems like perl is treating it as a call to a function instead of a has.
hash
[19:04]
packoman_ok. so lets step back. the hashes are created by functions. perhaps I committed the error there
what I did in the function is:
[19:06]
gac410And you preceed the my $newBib = \%newBib with a "my %newBib" [19:06]
packoman_so I have:
my %newBibtexCodeStringHash = parseBibtexCodeStringToHash( ... );
and it's return value of parseBibtexCodeStringToHash is:
[19:07]
gac410The perl help says your error is caused by attempting to use a variable that was not previously declared. [19:08]
packoman_return %parsedFields;
yeah. the error is means that. I've already seen it a couple of times. ATM with this I just don't see were the problem might be from...
hm
[19:08]
gac410That seems right - it's how the code in Configura/Package.pm works. my %plugins; %plugins = $this->listPlugins() and listPlugins has a "return %plugins" [19:11]
packoman_ok. thanks for checking
I'll test if the hash actually *is* what I am expecting it to be...
[19:12]
gac410perldoc -f ref That can be helpful trying to figure out what a variable is. [19:14]
packoman_um. could you check to what type %plugin is assigned outside the function [19:14]
gac410It's defined as "my %plugins" before being used as the return assignment the call to listPlugins
lib/Foswiki/Configure/Package.pm
[19:15]
packoman_ok. cool. thanks
man. I should get some perl lessons...
it seems much more that python
"than python" I meant to say
for the love of good
I defined %newBibtexCodeStringHash using "my" in the if-clause
scoping
so the message was right all along... I fell dumb
feeeeeeel dumb
[19:17]
gac410Doh... I won't begin to count how many times I've done that. [19:22]
packoman_ok. so thanks for the help. [19:23]

foswiki_irc5Hi all, I have just installed 1.1.3 on CentOS 6.0 and get the following error when trying to create a new user...can anyone advise please? (I am relatively new to server admin tasks so I might have missed something obvious) : "The register script can only be called with (Missing or illegal web).POST method. " [19:48]
gac410You browse to System/UserRegistration and when you click the submit button you get that error? [19:50]
foswiki_irc5Exactly, yes.
well, "Register" but yes.
[19:50]
gac410Wow - that's strange. Are you updating an old installation to 1.1.3 or is this completely new? [19:52]
foswiki_irc5there are no errors or warnings in Configure except for one about SMTP not being installed.
No, brand new install, a learning experience!
[19:52]
gac410How did you build your Apache configuration? Foswiki:Support/ApacheConfigGenerator ? [19:53]
FoswikiBothttp://foswiki.org/Support/ApacheConfigGenerator [ ApacheConfigGenerator ] [19:53]
foswiki_irc5yes, I'll post the output... [19:54]
gac410not here!
You can post to http://pastebin.com/ if you wish. Although if you used the config generator, then the issue is probably not in apache. It does a pretty good job.
Do you have Mandatory Access Controls enabled - it's the default on CentOS - and can cause all sorts of issues.
( ie. selinux )
[19:54]
foswiki_irc5http://pastebin.com/3uGJpMhW
Its a vanilla install, so probably enabled by default then. I'll find out how to disable Mandatory Access Controls.
[19:55]
gac410shell command getenforce will tell you about selinux. Although I've never heard of selinux causing your particular issue.
config looks okay - nothing obvious jumps out.
Is javascript enabled in the browser?
selinux is configured in /etc/selinux/config
[20:00]
foswiki_irc5I've disabled selinux... need to reboot. I'll be back in a few min, thanks gac410.
ahhhhh... javascript... just tried from another workstation... and it created my account
[20:06]
gac410Excellent. Still probably a good idea to *temporarily* disable selinux. It can be a bit complex to get the permissions correct. [20:07]
foswiki_irc5I now have a problem logging in with that user account "Oops: we could not recognize you. Try again or reset your password." but will do some googling before asking for help on that one. Thanks again. [20:08]
gac410There is a bit of discussion on Foswiki:Development/SecurityChecklists [20:08]
FoswikiBothttp://foswiki.org/Development/SecurityChecklists [ SecurityChecklists ] [20:08]
foswiki_irc5Noted. thanks [20:08]
gac410Make sure that the entry was written to data/.htpasswd for the user. And make sure that foswiki was able to send email. If email is not working, then registration won't complete correctly. [20:08]
foswiki_irc5it's going to be for a small intraweb wiki, so no major worrries about security, yet.
OK, I've not set up the mail yet, so will look at that next. thanks

....... (idle for 33mn)
gac410: OK, it's working now, I read about the problem where you can't create users if email is enabled but an email fails to send. I disabled the email and the user was created. I'll set up the SMTP when I get it all configured and transferred to a VM at work. Thanks again. [20:43]
gac410glad to help. Too late for you, but the upcoming 1.1.4 has a "test email" button in configure so that problems can be debugged before semi-registering a broken user. [20:45]
foswiki_irc5oh good. is there a release date for it yet? [20:58]
gac410no - hope to do a beta for testing on foswiki.org later this month. Still fixing a small number of urgent bugs. [20:59]
foswiki_irc5ok, I'll look forward to it.
thanks again. over and out.
