MassoudSI am in my configure.pl. Where / how do you test your email? [00:02]
gac410are you on 1.1.4 or 1.1.3?
It's new on 1.1.4 - Email and proxy tab in left bar, then test email tab along top.
[00:02]
MassoudSI am in the Mail and Proxies. I do not see the test email tab any where. Sorry :) [00:07]
gac410Did you install Foswiki 1.1.4 - that was released earlier today, or is it 1.1.3. [00:08]
MassoudS1.1.3 [00:09]
gac410okay - the email test was new in 1.1.4 [00:09]
........... (idle for 53mn)
pharveyhi gac410 - fantastic news, congrats on 1.1.4 :) [01:02]
gac410thanks pharvey - it was an effort- what with my false starts and overly-optimistic building
If the failure to update ReleaseHistory is the only bug, I'll be thrilled.
[01:02]
pharveyyou did a very thorough job. I really appreciate your work. [01:03]
gac410Thanks. [01:03]
pharveyand hey, there's no reason why we can't do a 1.1.5 :) [01:03]
gac410Yeah - once I relax a bit I'm going to start looking to migrate simple things from trunk, plus a few things I have stashed. [01:04]
pharveyoh my, Item11378 [01:05]
FoswikiBothttp://foswiki.org/Tasks/Item11378 [ Item11378: del tags are removed by html2tml ] [01:05]
gac410ya know -- Sometimes I see things and yet don't I added some <strike> tags to one of the Release topics, and they disappeared, and I just dismissed it as a user error. [01:06]
pharveyjayen: please state the version of the plugin you report a bug against ;-) [01:06]
jayenok. gimme a wec [01:06]
pharveyhrm, <strike> and <s> are supposed to work - though they are 'legacy' tags which are only have continued support in TinyMCE via legacyoutput MCE plugin
they *were* working. Damn, looks like I need to add some more tests.
Tests, tests, bloody tests.
ah crap. This is in 1.1.4. I wonder why
[01:07]
gac410We've added thousands of tests from 1.0 to 1.1 ... it's still amazing how many things we don't have covered. (and our roots have almost none). [01:08]
pharveyroots? [01:09]
jayenpharvey, Item11378 updated [01:10]
pharveythanks
gac410, not sure when I'll get to fix this. probably early jan
I'll see tonight if it's something easy
[01:10]
jayenpharvey, can i modify ItemTemplate to have a field for extension versions? [01:16]
pharveyjayen, that'd be nice, but you'd be starting down a path that would be leaning towards making the other fields less core-specific :-) [01:18]
jayencan i add some text to the "If AppliesTo is "Extension"" part [01:19]
pharveyI don't know. I've got a bit a flu at the moment, having trouble thinking of a confident answer to your question
maybe gac410 knows the answer :)
[01:21]
gac410Hi Jayen - The forms are really fussy - I removed your twisty - it was breaking the layout of the ItemTemplate. Probably inconsequential though. I'm not good at forms stuff. [01:27]
jayenreally? i tested it and it seemed to work for me [01:27]
gac410Form was working, but viewing the template from a documentation perspective was strange - table was not working.
The %INCLUDEs in the table have gradually broken over time though - They need to be html without line breaks to prevent table breakage when included into a cell.
I meant to talk to CDot about them - forgot to ask while mired in 1.1.4 today.
[01:28]
jayenok, i'll just leave the template as is and try to remember to write down the extension versions when i make a task [01:30]
gac410I discovered that Meta missing from the form "disappears" from the topic when edited. messed up my Tasks checkin logic.
In theory the Applies to SVN Rev is supposed to be able to point to a version. .... I think.
*nobody* ever uses it though that I recall seeing
Extension revision would certainly be more useful.
[01:31]
jayen - the docs are a bit ... strange. But if you set WYSIWYG_EXCLUDE = html then any native html like <strike> or <del> will cause the plugin to force the standard editor. [01:43]
jayendoes that break " * Set"? [01:44]
gac410No - I don't think so. I just added it to my SitePreferences " * Set WYSIWYG_EXCLUDE = html " and then edited a topic - it went to TMCE. I used plain edit to add a <strike> and then edited again, and it avoided TMCE.
I don't know why the WYSIWYG_PLUGIN says it doesn't work ... at least the html option seems to be functiona.
[01:45]
jayeni assumed "Set" would break from the notes in http://foswiki.org/Support/Faq65 - i'll try it out and see [01:51]
gac410That's a different option. That's stickybits which handles the conversion from HTML back to TML.
This just blocks the wysiwyg editor completely. If it detects html, then don't use wysiwyg.
stickybits looks for arguments inside the tags, and decides whether the tag should be converted to tml or kept in raw format when the wysiwyg editor saves.
[01:52]
jayenodd. WYSIWYG_EXCLUDE = html isn't working for me. del tags are still being removed, but i get a giant warning: "Conversion to HTML for WYSIWYG editing is disabled because of the topic content. This is why the conversion is disabled: Text contains HTML (This message will be removed automatically)"
i'll update the ticket
[01:55]
pharveyWYSIWYG_EXCLUDE will kill the WYSIWYG editor if any of those EXCLUDEd tags are present [01:55]
gac410Right - for me - it just cleanly reverts to standard edit. [01:55]
jayenoh sorrry
i misunderstood
i misread
[01:56]
gac410I was just giving you a way to avoid loosing your <del> tags by preventing wysiwyg in the first place.
for those topics.
[01:56]
jayenok
yeah i get it now
[01:56]
pharveyWYSIWYG_EXCLUDE is, I suspect, one of those very rarely used features - stemming from a time previous to TinyMCE (kupu?) when the editors would seriously b0rk on some tags [01:57]
gac410gac410 shudders .... kupu.... goes running away screaming. We referred to topics edited by kupu as being littered with kupu-poo-poo what a mess. [01:58]
jayen - maybe it's a 1.1.4 fix - I don't get any giant warnings - it just cleanly avoids wysiwyg. I'll install 1.1.3 and give it a try.
Hm. Looks clean on 1.1.3 as well. No idea.

gac410, ever had to serve multiple https domains from a single IP? I need to decide if we want more IP addresses on each VM, or just ditch IE6 users and reconfigure apache to leverage SNI.. [04:10]
gac410yes - you can do it with vhosts - but you can only use one certificate, with each vhost as a subject alt name.
I've got several https vhosts on a single apache server - have been that way for several years - afaik ie6 is happy with it. Other than the cert warning because I use cacert to issue them.

TheBadyes. If this possible. [06:58]
jayeni'm not an expert, but the thing that comes to mind is to make a special topic that does recursive searches, and have that topic include itself, using a search query result as a parameter [07:01]

Now it worked. Okay, thanks for letting me think... publicly :)

pharveyhi blinkiz - those dependencies are usually only required to build foswiki and/or plugins
also, IMHO you're better off using debian's libcss-minifier-perl rather than cpan installing CSS::Minifier

ShirakawasunaHello! I'm new to foswiki and want to make a wiki for laboratory notebooks. I'm having some trouble figuring out the right paradigm to use for this (webs, topics, plugins, permissions, etc). I've read the basic intros, is there are more in-depth guide I can read to become a more competent wiki admin?
beyond this, that is: http://foswiki.org/System/CompleteDocumentation
basically, I want a pretty locked-down page where individuals can edit *only* a specific web I set up for them, their lab notebook
and some way to organize notes over a period of years
thanks for any help!

foswiki_irc5Hi all- first time using IRC, so please forgive any lapses. I'm investigating "Pattern Skin Customization", and I can't get the example [20:12]
gac410what example - what are you trying to do? [20:12]
foswiki_irc5in http://www.lavrsen.dk/foswiki/bin/view/System/PatternSkinCustomization - where one creates a file called "view.myskin.tmpl" -
and then appends ?cover=myskin to a url. There is no change to the page I'm looking at.
[20:12]
gac410What browser are you using - those examples display incorrectly due to a Firefox bug. %TMPL:INCLUDE{"iew"}%  for example should be "view" not "iew"
Best to use the Foswiki:System/PatternSkinCustomization version
[20:15]
FoswikiBothttp://foswiki.org/System/PatternSkinCustomization [ PatternSkinCustomization ] [20:15]
foswiki_irc5My browser is Firefox 3.6.24. [20:16]
gac410okay - then it is probably okay. The foswiki site does have the latest docs- we released 1.1.4 yesterday.
And you put the file view.myskin.tmpl in the templates directory?
[20:16]
foswiki_irc5Yes, I did. I just copied and pasted the example from the url you gave me, and still there is no change to the page I am looking at. [20:19]
gac410hang on - I'll try it. [20:19]
foswiki_irc5I'm trying it out on Main/WebHome. [20:19]
Babaryou put it there, and then how did you enable the skin?
with ?skin=myskin
or you set it in your SitePreferences?
[20:20]
foswiki_irc5That's right, just following the example.
Oops, crossed msgs there - with ?skin=myskin
Ack! user error. I had "?cover=myskin". Blush.
But wait! That is what the example says to do.
[20:20]
gac410right cover=myskin would be equivalent to skin=myskin,pattern
in any event, I agree - I'm not getting it to work - Not sure what it's supposed to do though with the top:topicactionbuttons
Okay - from what I can see, there is no template called top:topicactionbuttons .... if you remove the top: you'll find it removes all but the more button on the bottom.
Pattern skin has evolved - looks like that particular example did not keep up.
[20:23]
foswiki_irc5The visual appearance of the page changes when I append "?skin=myskin", but doesn't change when I append "?cover=myskin". I guess that's the issue for me, rather than the details of the macros. [20:30]
gac410The correct name for the top buttons it top:toolbarbuttons ie the example should read
%TMPL:DEF{"top:toolbarbuttons"}%%TMPL:P{"more_link"}%%TMPL:END%
right - skin=myskin overrides the entire skin - and you've only created one little piece.
So skin=myskin, pattern says override the pattern skin with whatever pieces are in myskin.
So change your view.myskin.tmpl to override top:toolbarbuttons and then try again with cover=myskin or skin=myskin, pattern
[20:30]
Babaryeah, skin=myskin removes pattern. but skin=myskin, pattern is equivalent to cover=myskin, if pattern is your default skin [20:32]
gac410I need to open a new documentation task for 1.1.5 - the example just needs a tweak. [20:33]
foswiki_irc5OK, it's behaving as expected as long as I use skin=myskin. Clearly I have a long way to go before I really understand what's going on here. Given that I'm new to FosWiki and at this point know nothing about macros, skins and templates, is tha PatternSkinCustomization page a reasonable starting point? [20:41]
gac410Turned off SubscribePlugin on trunk - Tasks web is certainly **much** faster. [20:43]
