gac410This OP_match issue is a killer. Simple fix, but needs edit of LocalSite.cfg. These hidden / evolving config variables are Toxic
Hm. This seems to apply for anyone upgrading from 1.0.x - Even Foswiki-1.1.0 had OP_match defined.

jayenshould a missing requirement for an ADDTOZONE result in the addition to the zone? eg. http://foswiki.org/Support/Question981 [04:01]
gac410jayen - I don't understand. [04:04]
jayenI've got an ADDTOZONE that requires something in jquery 1.4.3
since jquery 1.4.3 is nto on f.o, the requirement is missing
but the javascript i specified is still added to the script zone
which results in a js error
so i was wondering why ADDTOZONE added it to the zone, since the requirement was missing
[04:04]
gac410I'd have to look at ADDTOZONE code - not sure if it checksk. [04:06]
jayenit checks. it puts an html comment that says the requirement is missing
<!--jumpbox::js: requires= missing ids: JQUERYPLUGIN::AUTOCOMPLETE-->
[04:07]
gac410The requires is for ordering.
Regarding your need for JSON - could you have the SEARCH macros return a simple topic list, and use %FORMAT to build the json?
BTW I added a small debug patch to Item11301 - if your publish plugin install problem comes back - that would add a bit of information.
[04:08]
FoswikiBothttp://foswiki.org/Tasks/Item11301 [ Item11301: Errors when re-installing FormPlugin ] [04:13]
gac410er. I mean FormPlugin not plublsh.
If it comes back and we can meet up here, I'd also like to add some print statements to dump the MANIFEST hash and also list the source directory.
[04:13]
jayenIt's for ordering? Then it's not ordering right, as it put the thing that requires JQUERYPLUGIN::AUTOCOMPLETE between the two things that require JQUERYPLUGIN::UI::AUTOCOMPLETE
I'm not familiar with FORMAT. I'll take a look.
[04:18]
gac410let me read it one more time.
reading the docs for VarADDTOZONE: requires="..." optional, comma separated string of ids of text within this zone that this content should follow when the zone is rendered.
[04:18]
jayenoh, that kind of ordering
so then what if an id doesn't exist? then should it render the addition?
so then what if a required id doesn't exist? then should it render the addition?
[04:20]
gac410Need to ask MichaelDaum ... my knowledge of this stuff is really thin.
Those ids not found in a zone don't have any influence on the final ordering. Missing ids aren't considered an error rather than an over-specified ordering problem.
That's what the Foswiki:System/VarADDTOZONE says about it.
[04:21]
FoswikiBothttp://foswiki.org/System/VarADDTOZONE [ VarADDTOZONE ] [04:24]
jayenyeah, i'm looking through the docs now
the name "requires" threw me off
would've preferred "before" or something
[04:25]
gac410yeah - probably a poor choice of words. [04:26]
jayenis it reasonable to open a task for a docu change? [04:27]
gac410well the docu is reasonably clear ... if you read it all ;-) For minor doc changes, like just changing the Requires definition in the example, just use the generic task Item11383 [04:28]
FoswikiBothttp://foswiki.org/Tasks/Item11383 [ Item11383: General documentation task for 1.1.5 release ] [04:28]
gac410We'd flood ourselves opening a task for every doc update. [04:29]

foswiki_irc1Hi! I have to do quite a tedious search & replace job and thought someone might know some tricks.
We've got a web called ABC (or something similar) which has to be renamed to XYZ.
There are lots of topics called ABCTopic1 etc. which have to be renamed as well.
Additionally there are links to these topics as well as form which contain ABC.
I guess I have to write a number of scripts to do (a) string replacement and (b) "remote control" the bin/rename script.
Has anyone ever done something similar?
[13:49]
vopekarhello! just installed 1.1.4 and the all the %DBQUERY % operation from DBCachePlugin seems to be realy slow - e.g. searching in books topics was under 1s, now takes about 10-15sec? any idea? [14:04]
...... (idle for 26mn)
SvenDowideitgac410 if you (er, or someone else) get inspired to do some more apache cfg work [14:30]
gac410hi SvenDowideit [14:30]
SvenDowideitI'm watching the access logs on a foswiki that is being used as part of a marketing site
and we should add clever-ness using the list of bots that sends them to a static page (or some other 'not for you' page)
if the bot requests a non-view
and imo we should change the view request for them to a simplified skin (or published static html)
that way we're not returning nothing, we're controling what they see
from what i can see bots calling edit, manage, login, attach, etc makes up 90% of the requests
so preventing them from ever reaching perl cgi is a biggie
but allowing them to get the topic info is necessary (for some wiki sites)
foswiki.org for eg, is too aggressive in preventing bots to view topics, so sites like twitter (er, or was it one of the derived sites) tries to confirm and grab a summary when there's a twit-url
and fails
i'm pretty impressed with f.o on 1.1.4 atm tho
as it feels faster to me
[14:31]
gac410well getting rid of SubscribePlugin made a huge difference
Yeah on the bot issue, I added a brainstorm topic a while ago iir.
[14:35]
SvenDowideityup, we did start on something :)
i forgot, and its in forebrain atm due to the load on this client site :)
its a tad scary to see - the spider hitting the site atm
[14:36]
gac410doesn't apacheauth deal with the manage, edit, attach, etc. [14:38]
SvenDowideitgrabs a topic view, then the edit link, which then redirects to the login
so there's a bunch of server side load
worse as its templateauth, but even with apacheauth, thats several web server connections foreach topic
[14:38]
gac410So you want - if a ip or agent string is on a bot list, serve a page without any non-view links? [14:40]
SvenDowideityup, bot-skin
or better seo-skin :)
[14:40]
gac410and probably get rid of all table sorting, etc. [14:40]
SvenDowideitexactly
simplify to the point where its readable for cache, and optimised for the primary audience
[14:41]
gac410eliminate javascript? [14:41]
SvenDowideitif that doesn't break stuff, then every simplification improves both the server load, and the search engine analysis :)
i'll bet that will make life iffy for some plugins, which will just assume they can ADDTOZONE without condition
initially, i was thinking just try to add skin=print
but i've not looked into how :)
or better said, i must have looked to do the simplest image gallery thing on github but i've fogotten already :
[14:42]
gac410we added that context for static - like generating a pdf, etc. to have plugins disable edit links, etc. [14:44]
SvenDowideitooo, did we?
clever ! :)
[14:44]
gac410I did - ... hang on [14:45]
SvenDowideitme falls - not enough climbing to keep up my hand strength
i'm _tryng_ to clean up my inbox while the girls nap - only about 227,000 in there, and the imap server is a little annoyed with me
[14:45]
gac410checking out a different branch... [14:46]
SvenDowideityou must looooove git :) [14:46]
gac410added a context static - should render macros for "offline rendering" [14:48]
SvenDowideitnow we 'just' need to make plugins like jqueryplugin etc use them :) [14:49]
gac410even documented in IfStatements
which from what I could find is the only place we document contextts
[14:49]
SvenDowideityup
aka - its the only one i know of too
i blame crawford - he's the terror that added contexts
[14:50]
vopekarany idea which Foswiki::Sandbox::CORE:readline () shall take 40 seconds during DBQUERY (probably) ? [15:04]
FoswikiBothttp://trunk.foswiki.org/System/PerlDoc?module=Foswiki::Sandbox::CORE [ (Foswiki login) PerlDoc ] [15:04]
vopekarwhich = why [15:06]
SvenDowideitmmm, yes, maybe
if DbQuery shells out to something, then readline is where all the info goes through
and if its alot of lines of data, its going to show
don't know more tho, i've not had a good relationship with DBQuery, and work to make the core backend better than it
[15:07]
vopekardo you suggest to not to use it a stick with %SEARCH ?
it was a sudden change (this morning 1.1.3 DBQuery works fine, now 1.1.4 db query is slow) ..hmm ok
[15:09]
SvenDowideit_i_ like SEARCH me, yes, but then i would, I do alot of work in the core on it and on store :)
but, if you have a specific issue that looks to be due to upgrading
then we should probably work with MichaelDaum to pin it down and fix it
cos we're not intentionally stuffing it up
[15:12]

[15:13]
vopekarsure, I'll try to find out more, start up profiling, thanks, in the meantime switching to backup [15:15]
SvenDowideitgac410 that might be a strange issue in 1.1.4 that we need to co-ordinate with micha :/ [15:20]
gac410yeah.. :-(
I'm not sure what is happening with Michael - I thought he was going to do the publicity for 1.1.4 - but he disappeared about the time I finished up rebuilding. I guess I just took too long :-(
[15:21]
SvenDowideitlike too many of us - he's trying to take on too many things
and then there's the children bonus :)
the days where i'm dad only, and don't try to get anything else done are the only ones where i feel i'm actually doing ok
the rest are way too much compromise
aaaah :)
panic is great - i'll start tomorrow so i cna savour the full effect :)
