WhoWhatWhen
pharveyjoako: did you see http://foswiki.org/Support/Windows2003Authentication ? I think there are some support questions working through this too. [00:34]
joakoI don't want to use kerberos that is a nightmare, so I just want to use LDAP directly [00:44]
pharveyOk. I'm afraid I've no experience with LDAP + Foswiki. [00:44]
joakoAnd then I don't even understand this: "For anyone who is trying this on Windows Server 2008, there is a bug in Active Directory that authentication with principals that contain a slash (such as HTTP/wikisvr.acme.local) in the name is broken. It took me a day to find this out, and I hope this can save others some hair-pulling time. "
Doesn't it have to be HTTP/hostname?
I did setup kerberos but it only works using the linux server's hostname and that is not the URL I want to access foswiki with

pharveyjoako, I recommend E-mailing foswiki-discuss mailing list, or try creating a support request at http://foswiki.org/Support [01:24]

joakoSo I have LDAP configured but when I run tcpdump and login there is no activity [02:12]

gac410Any thoughts on how to capture output from a plugin sub-module and evaluate it in a unit test? Func saveToipc -> afterSaveHandler -> TEST.pm sub-module ===> Reports results that the test can examine & assert ??? [04:23]

CDotpharvey: having problems with the unit tests? /isn't convinced that a common set of tests is all that critical [08:12]
.................... (idle for 1h38mn)
pharveyCDot, the actual number of tests that are incompatible is very small. Maintaining superficial differences between two branches of the same tests seems like a waste of time. Of course, synchronizing them could also be seen as a waste of time, except that I'm doing all this mostly to make store2 merge easier.
I don't want to maintain three different branches of UnitTestContrib.
[09:50]
CDotaye, I see. And a common test set isn't going to hurt, it's just lower on my list than having a reliable test set. [09:59]
pharveyI'm fixing the Release01x01 problem.
As for VCStoreTests::verify_NoHistory_implicitSave_VCStoreTests_RcsWrap failure in the last run, that's a clock-ticking problem AFAIK.
I guess the alternative is to abandon the store2 work.
[10:02]
CDoty, I was aware of the clock tick problem, but couldn't find a good way to test it without poking the core code, and I don't think you should have to change core code to support tests.
why is abandoning store2 and alternative?
[10:05]
pharveyI thought you were taking a jab all my broken eggshells over the last week
argh, I just need a good way to skip a suite entirely.
I guess I could override list_tests.

pharveyhi gac410. I'm really close to committing some skip stuff to UnitTestContrib... and cleaning up the Release01x01 failures.
thank you (and everyone else) for your patience...
[15:11]
gac410great. and thank you for all the work you are doing. Cleaning up & reorganizing unit tests is some badly needed drudge work for sure. [15:12]
pharveyreally quite necessary, lest I maintain three branches of this thing (including store2), or four for unicode... :} [15:16]
gac410pharvey - in writing unit tests for ImmediateNotify, I'm trying to have the afterSaveHandler feed back some information to the test. I think I'm settling on having the UnitTest "monkey patch" a callback routine into the plugin sub-module ... if that makes sense.
So Test does Func::saveTopic -> pluginAfterSave -> "TEST" notifier -> callbacks to test to say who notified.
btw for the Unit tests, the longer term value of your work is that we move to a single unit test, saving all of us double-commits, and keeps a single test contrib in sync. Esp if pseudoInstall pulls the one true version of the tests from github

kip3fkip3f starts making unit tests for SqlGridPlugin
I'm getting into some lexing of input SQL, so I really need test cases
Amazingly enough, I found this: http://www.perl.com/pub/2006/01/05/parsing.html
