gac410pharvey, you around? [00:17]

kip3f: You around? [01:06]
kip3fyes [01:06]
gac410Your task Item11739. I can't recreate it. [01:06]
FoswikiBothttp://foswiki.org/Tasks/Item11739 [ Item11739: when viewing a web with read-only WebNotify, Subscribe link at bottom of screen isn't hidden properly ] [01:06]
kip3fits on foswiki.org [01:06]
gac410oh. I'm in admin group :P [01:07]
kip3fsorry i wasn't clearer about that
aha
[01:07]
gac410okay - I see it on Foswiki.org. Now why can't I recreate it locally ... hm. [01:09]
kip3fI never checked if it really checks if WebNotify is writable or not ... I just assumed that's how it works [01:14]
gac410I'm not really sure what is going yet. [01:16]
.... (idle for 15mn)
kip3f: It's not readlonly. It's a bug in a change I made to allow individual webs to be disabled. [01:31]
EnriqueCadalsoSvenDowideit, thanks for the info. I found something at http://slion.net that seems pretty functional.
however I cant reach the template there.
[01:31]
kip3fgac410 - glad I found it, then! [01:35]
gac410yeah. Now to figure out why. :( [01:36]
okay - I added a context for SubscribePluginAllowed instead of SubscribePluginEnabled. But only to trunk. SubscribePlugin is supposed to be part of core on 1.2
I just fixed foswiki.org with a small template edit. But it will break older sites if they don't upgrade SubscribePlugin
(well. not break, but they will loose their subscribe buttons.
So... do I make the template change in 1.1.5, meaning sites will have to upgrade SubscribePlugin if they use it.
[01:47]
kip3fis this behavior that was changed vs. 1.1.4? [01:53]
gac410No. subscribePlugin was changed to be able to disable individual webs. And added a context to say enabled, but unavailable. "SubscribePluginAvailable"
It's one of those plugins that blurs the lines. There are template changes to core to accommodate a non-core extension.
I did NOT change the templates on 1.1.5, I did change them on trunk, to match the new SubscribePlugin feature.
[01:53]
kip3fI believe that patch-level version bumps should not require updating other plugins, hmm. [01:56]
gac410right, which is why I didn't change the templates. If you don't use the new feature (disable individual webs) there is no issue on 1.1.4/5
It's Item11594 that introduced the compatibility issue with 1.1.x

gac410ArthurClemens: Is your checking Foswikirev:14583 going to break anyone's existing tailoring of Foswiki 1.1.x? Do I need to stop the release cycle and run a new Release Candidate RC3? [13:16]
FoswikiBothttp://trac.foswiki.org/changeset/14583 [ Changeset 14583 – Foswiki ] [13:16]
gac410Unless it's either *really really minor* (doc typos, etc.) or *really really critical* i'd rather not have last minute changes unless they go through another test cycle on foswiki.org [13:17]
SvenDowideit: ArthurClemens ... Item11656 didn't get documented in the PatternSkin.txt change log :( [13:23]

............ (idle for 56mn)
gac410Babar, SvenDowideit anyone remember why ImagePlugin is enabled on Foswiki.org? As it monkey-patches render, it means that our "release candidate" is not really running all of the core render code. [14:52]
I'm going to disable the RenderExternalImageLinks option - that will restore the core render code.
Done.
[14:58]
....... (idle for 32mn)
Babargac410: it was a long time ago... I think the wiki user list with pictures needed it [15:34]
gac410okay. So caching external images onto our server I suspect is not particularly important. [15:35]
BabarI don't know, honestly
we wanted to document the changes we made, which is why we started with Will Norris the foswiki.org branch, but nobody ever cares
*cared

gac410ArthurClemens: did you see my earlier note? Is there ***any*** risk to your checkin against 1.1.5? The release candidate is already built. Does this need another RC cycle delaying 1.1.5 another week? [18:31]
......... (idle for 40mn)
ArthurClemensgac410: there is no risk. it is a very small change. [19:11]
gac410okay. I'll let it go then. It's the last minute changes that tend to "get us" ;) [19:12]

foswiki_irc4Any germans here [20:52]

[20:56]
Babarbut... germans on irc right now, I cound only 3, and I doubt any of them are awake
but many more people speak German, if that was the root of your question
[20:57]
foswiki_irc4We are in the middle of creating a wiki based on foswiki. We followed the intallation guide
we created a conf file based on the apache conf genertator but we cannot find the path where we have to place the conf file. Can someone help?
[21:01]
Babardo you have access to your apache configuration?
if you don't understand, just say so, I'll ask something else to get to the point :)
[21:03]
gac410What operating system are you using? [21:04]
foswiki_irc4We are using the file hostiter one.com based on Apache/2.2.9 (Debian) mod_fcgid/2.3.5
we have acces to the apache configuration
[21:06]
Babarthen just put the generated configuration file in /etc/apache2/conf.d ... or whatever the path is for your virtual host
also, if you're more confident in writing in German, I can read it, and gac410 can use google translate ;)
[21:09]
foswiki_irc4ich muss mich berichtigen. Wir haben bisher nur die foswiki dateien auf den one.com server gezogen. wir könne diese datei conf.d dort aber nicht finden. anscheined habe wir laso keinen zugriff auf unsere apache configuration [21:15]
Babarok, you don't have access to your apache configuration, then most likely you need to use the .htaccess version
and put that in bin/, iirc
[21:17]
foswiki_irc4Welche müssen wir dafür benutzen. Im root verzeichnis sind 4 htaccess dateien bin-pub-root, oder subdir-htaccess datei? [21:27]
foswiki_irc5diese dateien sind aber .txt datein! Ist das korrekt? [21:30]
Babarbin is for bin, pub for pub/ and root for the root directory
yes, they're text files, but you have to rename them as .htaccess
[21:33]
foswiki_irc5also nicht kopieren, sonderndie bin-htacces.text in bin.htacces neu benennen. richtig?!
[...] sondern die bin-htacces.text in bin.htacces neu benennen. richtig?!
do not copy, but the bin rename htaccess.txt into bin.htaccess. right?
[21:36]
