SvenDowideitdivaDeb, thats because thats where the standard say they should go
you don't put executable files into /var/www
and you should always avoid putting libs and web modified files there too
var/www is _supposed_ to be only for static files
in debian, cgi's are supposed to be in /use/lib/cgi-bin
but that causes other problems for complex web apps
so /var/lib/app is considered one of the better options

Guest87207hi all
I have configured latest stable foswiki to allow ldap logins and that works great. the problem is that most users have international characters in their names and foswiki is converting them strangely.
รถ becomes ae for example
or similar
i have enabled UTF-8
any idea how i can get the usernames to display correctly?
[12:13]
....... (idle for 30mn)
fixed it by using a different ldap attribute to generate wikiusernames [12:44]
.... (idle for 17mn)
hmm
anyone able to assist with this strangeness? [Fri Jul 06 15:00:49 2012] [error] [client <SNIP>] Insecure dependency in open while running with -T switch at /var/www/foswiki/lib/Foswiki/Store/VC/Handler.pm line 985., referer: http://planet/Main/SitePreferences

gac410What version of perl are you running? [13:02]
Guest87207qThis is perl 5, version 14, subversion 2 (v5.14.2) built for x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi [13:03]
gac410And Foswiki 1.1.5? [13:03]
Guest87207ubuntu 12.04
yes
1.1.5
[13:03]
gac410Strange ... I have not seen this issue . I have to run out - dentist in 15m, but you might try a patch, insert before linke 985
($name) = $name =~ m/(.*)/;
It's a rather brutal untaint of the filename, but it may get you by the problem.
Ah... i bet this issue is that you are using Locales?
[13:07]
Guest87207yes
how is that a problem?
[13:10]
gac410Unfortunately Locales causes the pattern match strings to be tainted. [13:11]
Guest87207any way to fix it? [13:11]
gac410Since the character classes are external. (locale specific definitions of upper/lower, etc)
I'm not sure how to fix it. We need more volunteers to work on the locale support.
[13:12]
Guest87207thanks [13:14]
.... (idle for 19mn)
CDotsounds like it might be a locale problem. Guest87207 are you running with a locale setting? Is {UseLocale} enabled in your configuration?
CDot reads on an sees gac410 reached the same conclusion :-/

foolovewhen processing a topic with the view script am I going after the file names??
./view -topic SomeWeb.SomeTopic -skin plain > SomeWeb.SomeTopic.html
[16:19]
gac410SomeWeb.SomeTopic is the same as what you would put in the url. It's not a filename, [16:20]
fooloveim trying to convert all my content to html and code this
on the server
[16:20]
gac410So for each SomeWeb/SomeTopic.txt, strip off the .txt, and pass the SomeWeb/SomeTopic to view.
In the tools directory, there is also a 'tml2html.pl' script

CDotfoolove: if you are trying to create a cache, or a published version, there are extensions that can help
the PublishPlugin, for example, lets you generate a static HTML view of content.

foolovejust needing to parse off .txt foreach $file (@file) and i think im home free
i do my $new_file = $file /(.*).txt/; and this does not work

GithubBot[foswiki] foswiki pushed 1 new commit to master: http://git.io/qL2L3Q
[foswiki/master] Item11808: add .m files to support recording meta-data. This decouples the store implementation from TOPICINFO and FILEATTACHMENT. Move attachment histories into data, where they are not exposed via web publishing of pub. Add validate mode to conversion script to support comparing complete histories of two supposedly equivalent stores. - CrawfordCurrie

MichaelDaumCDot, of course I ran them. which ones are failing for you? [17:02]
CDotI'm getting a lot of failures in VCMetaTests
n.m. I just found the problem; it was a configuration issue in my test environment
BTW looking at the NYTProf, the recordChange method eats a heck of a lot of time
I recoded it for the PlainFileStore and it's now a lot faster; something similar would be worthwhile for RCS if saving is ever an issue
right, that's me done. Will be AWOL for the next couple of weeks, though still reading email.

DavidMarshalli have an elementary question
if i visit www.foswiki.org/Mail/%0D%0A%0D%0AFoo
where/what is doing the encoding such that X-Foswikiuri is URL-encoded?
[18:20]
if someone who is using ModPerlEngineContrib could try a path like that
i'm trying to figure out whether we're missing a fix, using a module that needs to be updating, or what
[18:29]

gac410Hm... JQueryPlugin has the Extensions topic updated to 4.34, but the archives are still at 4.33 ... Looks like ArthurClemens had an incomplete release. [18:53]

damasterAnyone help with a problem in Foswiki 1.1.5? [20:47]
....... (idle for 33mn)
Babarsure. Just state your issue, and be patient [21:20]
damasterokay
I tried reinstalling JQueryPlugin unsuccessfully. I think I'm back where I started, but TinyMCE no longer shows the EditToolBar. Ideas?
In reinstalling JQueryPlugin, I disabled TinyMCEPlugin (dependencies). I've re-enabled it. I don't see any errors anywhere, but TinyMCE doesn't seem to work.
[21:21]
gac410damaster: did you see my reply about our broken repository. 4.33 is actually the most current version. [21:23]
damasterYes, I saw that. Now I'm just trying to get back to where I was. [21:24]
gac410Do you end up with the plain wiki text editor, or do you get TinyMCE Editor, but with a broken top bar. [21:24]
damasterLooks like a plain wiki text editor. [21:25]
gac410okay. hm... Any javascript errors reported by the browser? [21:25]
damasterI don't think so, but where would I look in Firefox
?
[21:26]
gac410Usually a red exclamation in the upper right corner.
Also, you said you had disabled TinyMCE in configure. Do you use mod_perl or fastcgi on your installation? or is it a plain old vanilla cgi?
[21:26]
damasterI think plain old vanilla cgi [21:27]
gac410okay. ( with mod_perl or fastcgi, changing config settings often needs an apache reload or other shenanigans. ) [21:28]
damasterhow can I verify? [21:28]
gac410hm. Have to dig into the apache config. But if you installed and it's not familiar, then you are probably not using them. They can be a challenge to set up.
Back to TinyMCE. in FF, in the upper right - are 3 icons, either a checkbox or red x (on linux anyway). L-R, they represent standards mode, css errors, and javascript errors. They change from checkmark to X if errors reported.
Other things to check. In System/InstalledPlugins. Make sure JQueryPlugin, TinyMCEPlugin and WysiwygPlugin are all enabled.
[21:29]
jastdon't those icons only show up with web developer toolbar installed? [21:33]
damasterHmmm. No icons in FF 13. I have Firebug installed (but never used it). What are you looking for -- javascript errors? [21:33]
jasttry tools -> error console or whatever it's called now [21:33]
gac410Since you ran an install of an extension, make sure that the target directories and files, esp. in pub directory, are still readable by apache. (Directories must have the x bit)
Oops. I've run Web Developer toolbar for so long. I didn't know what it looked like without it :)
[21:34]
jastI have it missing in *some* of my work areas [21:34]
damasterAh. Found WebDeveloper/ErrorConsole [21:34]
gac410So when you "edit" a page where TinyMCE should run, see if any more errors occur. Or clear the error log and try editing again. [21:35]
damasterI'm getting warnings from JQueryPlugin "-moz-border-radius-... [21:36]
jastignore CSS errors like that
in fact, ignore warnings and look at errors only
[21:36]
damasterNo errors -- just warnings after clearing the console [21:38]
jastright, so not a javascript problem (yet) [21:38]
gac410So veryify in InstalledPlugins, that JQueryPlugin, TinyMCE and Wysiwyg are enabled. [21:39]
jastdinner? it's almost midnight! [21:39]
damaster:-)
they are enabled
[21:39]
jastin the config for JQueryPlugin, check that (a) the most recent version is selected, (b) pretty much all of its sub-plugins are enabled [21:41]
damasterJSTreeContribPlugin?
config for JQueryPlugin? Where is that?
[21:41]
jast/bin/configure -> extensions -> JQueryPlugin 'tab' [21:43]
damasterWhat is JSTree? Doesn't appear enabled, but is referenced by JQuery (I think) [21:45]
jastI don't think I've ever seen that anywhere [21:46]
damasterThink it got installed in 1.1.2 then disabled, but never completely removed.
or maybe it was 1.0.9
[21:47]
jastthere's a JSTreeContrib but I've never used it [21:48]
damasterdo you have a reference to it at the bottom of the JQueryPlugin tab? [21:48]
jastnope [21:49]
damasterhmmm [21:49]
jastit's probably registered as a plugin for JQueryPlugin... if it isn't already, disable it there [21:50]
damasterDone -- most other plugins are enabled. I disabled the ones that warn they are deprecated.
Still no edit tool bar for TinyMCE
