KamalNegiHey I am new bie in Foswiki so can any one help me on Webdav, how to configure it and is it free or paid [06:07]
flexibeastKamalNegi: Do you mean, is Foswiki free or paid? [06:16]
KamalNegiNo, I mean WebDAB plugin is free or paid. [06:22]
flexibeasti don't see a WebDAV plugin listed on foswiki.org/Extensions/WebHome .... do you have a link to it? [06:23]
KamalNegiNo I didn't see it on foswiki plugin lis
I want to configure it but how ?
[06:25]
BabarWebDAVPlugin is one of the few paid plugins there is, because of the time it took to develop it [06:25]
flexibeastBabar: Where is it listed? [06:25]
Babarbut CDot is the main dev behind it, and he's around, so I'm sure he can help [06:25]
CDotThe WebDAVPlugin is in subversion. I haven't released it to the Extensions web because (1) I prefer to work directly with people who are using it and (2) I want to encourage them to pay for using it (it still hasn't recouped its development cost) [06:29]
flexibeastCDot: Ah, okay. [06:30]
KamalNegiCdot: Okay [06:30]
.......... (idle for 47mn)
MichaelDaumWebDAVContrib that is. The WebDAVPlugin is pretty outdated and still in the T* namespace.
WebDAVContrib isn't publicly available yet
[07:17]
CDotMichaelDaum: thank you for that; you are quite right.
WebDAVPlugin is, of course, for Apache 1.3 only.
[07:21]
jastside note: it's incredibly annoying how finnicky the WebDAV support in MS Office is [07:21]
MichaelDaumjast, try sharepoint. [07:22]
jastEBRAINEXPLODED [07:22]
CDotjast: you're not kidding. It's a nightmare. M$ do *not* want to support WebDAV. They want you to use the sharepoint protocols
there are a few third-party implementations of the sharepoint protocols out there, but I have no idea how good they are.
[07:22]
jastif MS is any good at protecting their protocols from enemy invasion, they probably change fundamentally between versions, anyway [07:24]
CDotindeed. Their webdav support certainly does :-( [07:24]
MichaelDaumthey do the same with their cmis support in sharepoint, being implemented "special". all ofthe cmis specs is full of MAY and funny things like this:
on checkin(): "Each CMIS protocol bindings MUST specify whether the checkin service MUST always include all updatable properties, or only those properties whose values are different than the original value of the object."
meaning: now what does that mean effectively.
(cmis: written by M$)
[07:24]
CDotdepends on what an updatable property is [07:26]
jastthat's a hilarious subversion of RFC 2119 [07:26]
MichaelDaumthere simply is no way to "discover" whether it is enuf to just check in updated properties, or if you need to fetch all props, make some changes and then check in all of the bunch. [07:27]
CDotCDot wonders what a "checkin service" is in this context [07:27]
MichaelDaumyou have to try and error per cmis impl [07:27]
CDoterm, it says the bindings MUST specify which it is [07:28]
jastso what, it's just a spec ;) [07:28]
CDotso I would expect something like the OpenGL discovery service [07:28]
MichaelDaumtheres a repo info service to discover capabilities. but these arent covering all MAYs in the specs. [07:29]
CDotbut this is a MUST... [07:29]
MichaelDaumbasically, I'd expect specs to be a LOT more restrictive. but M$ has always shown the tendency to make these specs very broad and "flexible". they wont even call them proper specs when they arent "flexible" enuf.
see oauth2
[07:29]
jasthmm. don't know how I managed to do this, but now textboxlist form fields on one specific wiki delay page load by ~25 seconds :)
wasn't oauth2 the (successful) attempt to turn oauth into a nightmare?
[07:30]
CDotflexible specs == rope to hang yourself with [07:31]
jastI kind of have this idle-priority side project that would include an 'extensible' spec, à la xmpp (but implementing something quite different). part of the challenge is making it extensible but not 'flexible' [07:33]
MichaelDaumother nightmare specs courtesy of M$: rtf, ooxml ... all of them follow the same principle of delusion by making specs adaptable to new requirements ... hahaha :( [07:33]
jastooxml isn't just flexible but also poorly defined
I mean, describing attributes like (not an actual attribute, just very much like actual ones) layoutExcel97Mode as "if set to 'true', use the Excel 97 rendering mode for this item"...
[07:33]
MichaelDaumxmpp is very flexible indeed. yet a cool kid. [07:34]
jastthat's not very helpful [07:34]
MichaelDaumheh no [07:35]
jastnot to mention that ooxml isn't even denormalised [07:35]
MichaelDaumlots of money went thru some throats to oil em [07:36]
jastI hear the spreadsheet format retains the 'cell cache' concept from excel's traditional format. and if the 'cell cache' structure diverges from the spreadsheet contents... your document is now broken [07:36]
KamalNegiCDot: How to get webdav pluginn for foswiki [07:40]
CDotKamalNegi: pm'ing you [07:44]

MichaelDaumhm Liferay stores the passwords in the session store to be used accessing other systems on behalf of the user
isnt that crude
http://www.liferay.com/community/wiki/-/wiki/Main/CMIS+Repository
[08:42]
......... (idle for 40mn)
CDotnasty, Sounds like at least on UK bank, which was caught storing plaintext passwords a few weeks ago. Their defence? "The passwords are stored encrypted on disc". Gee, wow! [09:22]
BabarI think most people don't understand what passwords are use for :)
it's simple though.. it's authentication, like a key in a lock. You don't need to store the key to know if it opens the lock, as long as you have the lock...
[09:31]
MichaelDaumthere is zero way to do that server agnostic. cmis completely delegates authentication to the transport level. means basic auth or digest auth.
alfresco has its own proprietary sso: a kind of ticket system transfered on every rest call ... as an url parameter. hello server logs: get me a ticket for my boss.
[09:31]
CDotBabar: that's not the reason they stored the passwords. It was much more mundane; they have a "password reminder" system. Apparently they were also using the stored password for a challenge during telephone banking sessions. [09:34]
Babarplease don't tell me they were asking the user for their password, over the phone... [09:34]
CDotso I was told. Dunno if it's true, but it's believable. [09:34]
Babarunfortunately, is _is_ believable [09:35]
MichaelDaumto integrate alfresco and liferay you explicitly have to configure: session.store.password=true [09:36]
Babarlovely [09:36]
CDotthere are so many misunderstandings.... the simple concept of the CVC on credit cards, for example, adds absolutely nothing to the security of the card [09:36]
MichaelDaummost cmis integrations do not propagate authentication, let alone sync authorizations on objects. [09:38]
CDotthe whole idea that a password has to include mixed case and punctuation, again, adds nothing to the security of the pw [09:38]
MichaelDaumthey access the ECM using admin/admin [09:39]
CDotCDot was amused to read one of these password cracking blogs the other day. The hardest password to crack was: paaaaaaaaasssssssssswwwwwwwwwoooooooorrrrrrrdddddddd [09:39]
MichaelDaumlol :( [09:40]
jastour customers' root passwords are sometimes quite awesome, too [09:41]

.... (idle for 16mn)
jastso, might wanna update the bot to disable the issue feature on all repos (if that's even possible via API) [11:57]
Babarwhy would we want that? All we want is that someone gets notified. If people use github even though they saw there is a task on foswiki.org, I think it's best to give them this opportunity
as long as somebody gets an email and can make the link
[11:58]
jastwell, if someone *does* get an e-mail, sure [11:59]
Babarand btw, it's not a bot, it's a cronjob :) [11:59]
jastsame difference ;) [11:59]
BabarI think all "admins" get an email, which is how I became aware of that one [11:59]
MichaelDaumBabar, not the slightest idea whats going on :(
github is great. its issue tracker is better than ours.
[11:59]
BabarBabar loves the fact that you can deal with your issues directly inside your commits
like commit with a comment: Fixed facets, this closes #1
(iirc the syntax), and github should close it for you
[12:00]
foswiki_irc9hi everybody, sorry to disturb the admins thread :) i was wondering, when i'm editing topic A, is there a way to automatically generate topic B (if not already exists) which will be based on a template and filled with form data from topic A, when i click on the "Save" button of topic A ? [12:03]
Babarand what do you want to happen to topic A? [12:04]
foswiki_irc9topic A is saved when i click on its "Save" button, and in the same time, it creates topic B [12:05]
Babarso only the first time you save topic A, it will create topic B based on what you put in the form data of topic A? [12:07]
foswiki_irc9long story short : i have to create a topic holding the content of a tech document, and then create another topic holding just a header for the tech doc
so the topic holding the header will be based on form data from the full tech doc
yes Babar
you've got it
the header topic will be based on a template, filled with the form data from the full tech document
[12:07]
Babarwhy don't you want to do a SEARCH?
you want stale data?
[12:12]
foswiki_irc9a search ? to create two topics at a time ?
what i would like to do is when i save the first topic, it automatically creates the other one
i'm starting with a button "Create tech doc" on a portal, if i click on it, it opens the edit template of the doc, then i save the doc, then it automatically saves the header topic
that's what i'd like to do
[12:13]
Babaryeah, I've seen similar workflows
but right now I can't remember how people usually solved it, sorrry
[12:23]
flexibeast1foswiki_irc9: That's interesting .... Why do you need to create a header topic separate from the main topic? [12:35]

Vampire0_Hi [12:52]
Vampire0I want to use a Macro in the warn attribute of the search macro is this possible anyhow?
%INCLUDE{"url" pattern="(.*)" warn="%X%"}%
gives me
<img src=
:-(8
[12:53]
jasttry this instead of %X%: $percntX$percnt
no promises, though
[12:55]
Vampire0Results in $percntX$percnt :-( [12:56]
jasthm. cheaty. [12:57]
Vampire0I also remembered this, but seems only to work for SEARCHes, not for INCLUDE warns [12:58]
jastit works for a whole bunch of things, just not for this, it seems [12:58]
Vampire0Argh and I know why
It shows the expansion up to the first quote
Because the Quote from the expanded IMG tag ends the warn attribute value
[13:00]
BabarI guess you'd have to put the <img src=$quot... manually [13:02]
jastif only it expanded the $percnt stuff it'd be easy :) [13:02]
Babarpatches welcomed :) [13:03]
jastalas, no time [13:03]
Vampire0As it does not expand $percnt it also does not expand $quot :-(
<img width="$quot16$quot" height="$quot16$quot" src="$quot/foswiki/pub/System/DocumentGraphics/warning.png$quot" alt="$quotALERT!$quot" title="$quotALERT!$quot">
from
warn="<img width=$quot16$quot height=$quot16$quot title=$quotALERT!$quot alt=$quotALERT!$quot src=$quot/foswiki/pub/System/DocumentGraphics/warning.png$quot />"
[13:04]
jasttry \" instead of $quot
not sure if there's a technical difference, though
[13:04]
Vampire0yay indeed there is. This works. It is still ugly that I have to stuff the actual IMG tag in there, but at least the icon is shown
thanks man
[13:06]
CDotraise a task to get the standard formatting tokens expanded in the warn= parameter [13:07]

flexibeast1foswiki_irc9: Hm, okay. - So could you create the topic page with the header info first, then have a conditional INCLUDE via which either an topic with stricter permissions gets included in the page if the user is allowed to do so, or gets asked to create such a page if not? [13:43]
(i.e. the header topic would be the parent of the content topic, and the content topic could be created with stricter permissions than the header topic.) [13:48]
