flexibeastRe. r15593, should the context be spelled "passwords_modifyable" or "passwords_modifiable"? [01:14]
gac410Yeah, I noticed that, but that is the actual context that is set. I cut/pasted it from a dump of the context hash. [01:15]
flexibeastHm, wonder if it might not be best to add a note confirming this is the necessary spelling? [01:15]
gac410Blame CDot ... I wonder if it is a mispelling, or a British vs. American spelling. Like the battle of color / colour [01:18]
flexibeasti've never seen that as an alternate spelling, myself .... when i search Google for "define:modifyable", it comes back with "Did you mean: define:modifiable". [01:19]

flexibeastThat would be good, i reckon. :-) [01:21]
gac410Done. Unfortunately it's one of those things, To fix it now would probably mean users have to fix their local templates. [01:23]

pharveygac410: happy with your changes. FWIW I didn't have to manually rotate our logs this month, how did foswiki.org go? [02:35]
gac410Hm... Let me look [02:35]
pharveyoh. I didn't have to manually update, because I applied the PlainFile perf. fix. Hehe. [02:36]
gac410on foswiki.org the rotates all failed.
looks like trunk.foswiki.org rotated the events log... but it's much smaller
[02:38]
cool
I just updated PlainFile.pm on foswiki.org with the version on Release01x01 branch. We'll see if the logs rotate for November.
[02:54]

gac410I want to talk to CDot before I semi-un-deprecate Compatibility logger. But TBH I think we need that logger as well as LogDispatch [02:56]

dj_segfaultFinally implementing creating new pages with a DataForm and Template from a html form. Is there a way to get the DataForm to appear at the top of the created page instead of the bottom? [05:42]
flexibeastdj_segfault: http://foswiki.org/Support/Faq33 [05:43]
dj_segfaultflexibeast: Thanks. That sounded like something that someone else would want to do. [05:44]
flexibeastdj_segfault: You're welcome! i recently tidied up the Support.FAQ page, and remembered seeing that question there. :-) [05:44]
SvenDowideitpharvey1,
i'm using dh-make-perl to build 2 debs
and its adding a perllocal.pod to both
thus breaking the install
debian people are pretty unhelpful, did you have this and solve it?
oh what a mess this is
i need yet another fresh vm i think
[05:45]
flexibeastIn the context of my trunk-based local FW install, what other places do i need to check apart from my foswiki_httpd_conf.txt file when getting 403 errors when trying to access stuff in pub/System? [05:50]
SvenDowideityour apache error log
as that .txt file should have nothing to do with anything
[05:50]
flexibeastOh .... that's the one i've been modifying. [05:51]
SvenDowideitits an example file [05:51]
flexibeastAh. Well, i'll rename it shortly. [05:51]
SvenDowideit(unless you've makde a softlink etc [05:51]
flexibeastThe Apache error logs say "Symbolic link not allowed or link target not accessible" [05:52]
SvenDowideitand just renaming it in your foswiki dir will have no efect either
you need Options FollowSymlink
rather than Options none
[05:52]
flexibeastWell, i presume if i rename it and then also change its name in my apache2.conf ....
Yes, i've already done that.
[05:52]
SvenDowideiti may have left it in the file for hints
huh?
[05:52]
flexibeastIn my conf file, Options FollowSymLinks is already set, Options none has been removed. [05:53]
SvenDowideityou should be able to copy it (or link it) to /etc/apache/conf.d/ or ...site-enabled [05:53]
flexibeast(i mean, i changed it.) [05:53]
SvenDowideitso not need to edit your apache.cond
SvenDowideit can't type, but i think you'll get my gist :)
[05:53]
flexibeastOkay, here's what i have:
foswiki_httpd_conf.txt edited
and 'Include'd in apache2.conf
[05:53]
SvenDowideitah, k, that shoudl work
so did you change the Options in all the places?
[05:54]
flexibeastWell, it definitely has been working, as ive' been making changes in other areas of that file that have produced successful results. [05:54]
SvenDowideitand make sure there's no .htaccess file in /pub tripping you up [05:54]
flexibeastHm, haven't checked for pub/.htaccess, let me have a look ...
No, no file there.
[05:55]
SvenDowideitmmm, the other reason i can think of, is there's a file/dir with the wrong ownership or something [05:56]
flexibeasthttp://pastebin.com/EPZpg5Hn
Yeah, have been checking that, but all looks to be in order (i.e. owner and group both set to 'www-data').
[05:56]
SvenDowideitmany layers of odd
otherwise, make sure you have spelt follow right
[05:57]
flexibeastNor is there any .htaccess in pub/System [05:57]
SvenDowideitargh!
SvenDowideit has all sorts of weird issues with dh-make-perl
[05:57]
flexibeastOkay, fixed by commenting out the line "Deny from env=blockAccess" [05:59]
SvenDowideitah [06:01]
flexibeastWhich now means i can see some broken HTML on the WikiGroups page; there's a rogue <span class= [06:02]
SvenDowideity, its likely the change i made to ICON
to emit single quotes
[06:03]
flexibeastAh, okay. [06:03]
SvenDowideiti'm not sure if we should revert that or fix our hacks to get around the double quote mess [06:03]
.............. (idle for 1h5mn)
flexibeastHm. What have i failed to do when trying to access http://localhost/foswiki/core/bin/rest/RenderPlugin/tag?name=DATE produces:
"Invalid REST invocation - /RenderPlugin/tag does not refer to a known handler"
Yes, i have pseudo-install'd RenderPlugin. :-)
[07:08]
ModAcOstSimpliest first: Have you enabled it? pseudo-install.pl -e RenderPlugin [07:11]
flexibeastAh. No i hadn't. Didn't realise i needed to do that! Thank you. :-) [07:11]
ModAcOst^^ [07:12]
mmoCould you please support me at this point of the System Extension
AccessControl:
I want to administrate the access on a single topic according to the form
field defined prior to this. Unfortunately, the use of %FORMFIELD{}% does
not work here. ( * Set ALLOWTOPICCHANGE = %FORMFIELD{}%Group)
[07:26]
flexibeastmmo: The way i've implemented this is via the SetVariablePlugin. [07:27]
.... (idle for 15mn)
Babarmmo: your syntax is odd anyway
not saying it would work otherwise, but shouldn't it be: %FORMFIELD{"Group"}% ?
[07:42]
mmoBabar: In practice my syntax is: Qm%FORMFIELD{"Prozess"}%Group [07:47]
Babarok. But as flexibeast said, I don't think such variables are expanded during ACL evaluation [07:48]
mmoThanks, i will try it with the SetVariablePlugin [07:50]

I have one more question: I want to export my Web with the PublishPlugin, but the numbering doesn`t work. I have defined my Headline in the following way ---# Headline
I use this syntax: perl -T rest /PublishPlugin/publish web=QM/ISO9001 format=pdf extras='--book --duplex --toclevels=5'

foswiki_irc7anyone here who can help me with the foswiki
?
[12:55]
gac410What is your question. [12:55]
foswiki_irc7i try to run the configure page but it allways says access denied error 403
i dont know what i did wrong
[12:56]
gac410Is this a new install? [12:56]
foswiki_irc7yes [12:56]
gac410How did you generate your apache configuration? [12:56]
foswiki_irc7through the webformular
Apache Config Generator
[12:57]
gac410It prompts you for a user / password? and then fails [12:58]
foswiki_irc7no
it just says access denied
when i try to open the configure (http://localhost/bin/configure)
[12:58]
gac410okay. hang on a sec. [12:59]
foswiki_irc7i am using windows btw
not linux or something
[12:59]
gac410That should be okay. So in ApacheConfigGenerator, you chose "Template Authentication" and did you also enter an optional IP address for protecting configure?
In the generated apache config, there is a block: <FilesMatch "^(configure)$"> Order Deny,Allow Deny from all Allow from 192.168.1.1 (but on multiple lines)
Well the Allow from (ip address) will be the ip address you entered in the Apache Config Generator if any
You could try changing the "Deny from all" line to "Allow from all" .... **TEMPORARILY** unitil you get configure to run and get your first user registered.
[13:01]
foswiki_irc7doesnt work [13:07]
gac410After you change the file you have to restart apache. [13:07]
foswiki_irc7i know [13:08]
gac410okay. Can you look at your apache error log. See if it logs what it doesn't like when it generates the 403 [13:08]
foswiki_irc7[Mon Oct 15 15:11:55.565806 2012] [access_compat:error] [pid 4436:tid 1672] [client ::1:59419] AH01797: client denied by server configuration: C:/xampp/htdocs/foswiki/bin/configure [13:10]
gac410Could you paste the <Directory ..../bin > .... </Directory> portion of your configuration to http://pastebin.com/
So I can take a look at it.
[13:13]
foswiki_irc7http://pastebin.com/S4MUuMzL [13:15]
gac410hm. Looks like it is coming in with IPv6 address [client ::1:59419] Instead of "Allow from localhost" you could try Allow from ::1:59419 Though you did try "Allow from all" and that still didn't work? [13:20]
foswiki_irc7no
now it throws another error
couldn't create child process: 720002: configure
[13:21]
gac410Did you run the "rewrite-shebang" tool? [13:23]
foswiki_irc7?
whats that :O
[13:23]
gac410okay. It updates all of the bin scripts to tell them where perl is located. Hang on and I'll get a reference [13:24]
foswiki_irc7ok [13:24]

Or to save you some reading: cd C:\path\to\foswiki\tools

thats a perl -(Capital-eye) ..\lib
[13:25]

thanks so much
it works now
i wish you a nice daye
day
:)
[13:28]
gac410great. Next hurdle on Windows is getting email to work. Be sure you configure the Email section of the configuration, and use the test
okay... good luck.

gac410I've got some changes stashed to "un-deprecate" the Compatibility logger. So users can configure it, rather than be forced into the PlainFile logger.
Didn't make it a feature request. Any concerns? I'll leave the default at PlainFile, though I'm adding a warning that very busy sites might encounter file rotation problems and should consider using the compatibility logger.
