PeterSvendsenhave a topic where I have a simple dataform attached. The dataform contain a field for week number (Week number) and year (Year) Since I would like to use this specific topic as a weekly report I would like to have a section where I do a search and list all my old reports... e.g. if I have a report for week 2, 3, 4 and 5, and now I'm working on week 6.... then when I look at my week 6 report I get a link to week 2, 3, 4 and 5..
I know in reallity I link to my history of the specific topic but how can that be done.
[07:56]
.............. (idle for 1h6mn)
is it possible to have a button on a topic... so when I press it a backup of the topic will be created with last week number and year added to the topic name.... example.... I have a topic called TestPage..... if I press the button I'll get a new topic (100% copy of my current topic) called TestPage012013 [09:03]

dieserbarthi there, a short question: is it possible to enable foswiki-wysiwyg-editor on a per user basis? don't find anything. [10:18]
jastthere's the NOWYSIWYG preference
PeterSvendsen: the tricky part there is getting the proper week number and year; you'll probably need SpreadSheetPlugin for that
generally, the button would submit a form that POSTs to /bin/save/Web/TargetTopicName; the important part to make it work is to have a hidden paremeter templatetopic=Web.SourceTopicName

PeterSvendsenjast: Thanks.... I take a look... :) [11:51]
Jast... the usage of the spreedsheet was that related to my question "is it possible to have a button on a topic... so when I press it a backup of the topic will be created with last week number and year added to the topic name.... example.... I have a topic called TestPage..... if I press the button I'll get a new topic (100% copy of my current topic) called TestPage012013" because I'm a bit unsecure that it can be used... [11:59]
jastPeterSvendsen: I'd imagine using it to determine the correct name for the target topic [12:00]
PeterSvendsenok.. any idea how to use the current topic as template for the new topic? [12:02]
...... (idle for 27mn)
jastyes. by doing what I said. [12:29]
PeterSvendsenok thx :)
I have now been able to create a new page if the user enter a weekyear e.g. 022013 in a field and press Create... then the topic will be created..... any idea how the setup should be so the topic name would be TestPage032013... now I only take the input value and use that as topic title....
now it looks like this <input type="hidden" name="TopicTitle" value=topic /> and when I test with e.g. <input type="hidden" name='TestPage'+"TopicTitle" value=topic /> it dfails
[12:37]
nick_Which setting do I need to set so that editing is done in wikitex rather than wysiwyg as default? [12:43]
jastnick_: in WebPreferences or SitePreferences (or in specific topics), * Set NOWYSIWYG = 1
there's no easy checkbox for users to bypass that setting then, though
[12:53]
nick_Thanks
That's OK
In this wiki I'm the only user.
[12:56]
bertodseraHI all, is there any way to import an external Xcel file as a table on multiple topics, so that when I modify the Xcel file (outside the wiki) the topics get automatically updated?
all I see so far is attachments, which make the idea look quite clumsy for maintenance

iamasaslooking for a possible direction. i have searched the docs, and don't see any straightforward way.
i want to allow for users to search, and return results of topics that they may have deny-ed view.
basically i need a way to verify that a topic exists, even if i can not view that topic
is this the correct place to ask? and thank you.
[15:39]
gac410Yes it's the correct place to ask, but I don't know of any way around that one.
revealing the existence of topics would be considered a security hole, so not something we'd want to open up I don't think.
[15:42]
iamasasindeed that appears to be the default design. but under very specific constrants I am hoping to open it up a bit.
one thought i had, was to auto-create a list of topic names under a web on create. This page would not have access restrictions, and thus be available in search results ect

FoswikiBothttp://foswiki.org/Tasks/Item12334 [ Item12334: performance review ] [15:45]
gac410Yes, you probably could do something with a afterSaveHandler, which detects new topic, and updates the index topic. It would take some code. [15:45]
iamasaswriting code is fine with me. do you have some docs on afterSaveHandler? [15:47]
gac410All of the handlers are documented in Foswiki::Plugins::EmptyPlugin [15:47]
FoswikiBothttp://trunk.foswiki.org/System/PerlDoc?module=Foswiki::Plugins::EmptyPlugin [15:48]
iamasasgac410: thanks [15:48]
gac410You would need a before save handler to set something if the topic doesn't exist, so the after save can detect new topics. [15:48]
iamasasthe thinking being: you need a way to verify if it is a new topic, rather than an edit? [15:49]
gac410The ImmediateNotifyPlugin uses beforeSaveHandler to set a context. Exactly.
unless ( Foswiki::Func::topicExists( $web, $topic ) ) {
Foswiki::Func::getContext()->{'NewTopic'} = 1;
[15:50]
FoswikiBothttp://trunk.foswiki.org/System/PerlDoc?module=Foswiki::Func [15:50]
gac410You can't depend on it being a "rev 1" save, since there is a window where multiple save requests will update the same rev. [15:50]
iamasasmakes sense. but more to the point. It shouldnt' matter if it is save 1 or 100, the topic name should exist in the 'searchable' page. So I may get away with on save, check if the name is listed, and add it if it does not.
this way, i don't need to detect if it is a create or an edit, but rather enforce the end goal to begin with.
[15:52]
gac410okay. yes that is true. You will have the overhead of an extra read of the index topic, but that might not be a concern for you. [15:53]
iamasasthat is good to keep in mind, but i do not see evidence at this time that this will be a consern [15:54]
gac410If you can tolerate a delay, another option would be to have a cron job run as admin and re-populate an index topic on a schedule acceptable to your users. [15:54]
iamasastrue. that may be a quicker way to test out if this index methodolgy will work, then i can work to trigger it on edit, if the delay can not be tolerated. [15:57]
gac410The topic should if possible either be ch
"checked in" using RCS, or not have a revision history. Foswiki slows down if it needs to dig into rcs to figure out the revision info.
[15:58]
iamasasmakes sense. will foswiki allow a topic exist without a revision history? [16:01]
gac410Yes. That's how we ship the whole system web. [16:01]
iamasaswow. somehow i never put 2=2 together. and noticed the lack of RCS files under the system web.
hey, thanks for your suggestions. i have at lease a direction to test out.
[16:02]
gac410The topic also doesn't need a %META:TOPICINFO line at the start. If it finds one it will use it unless rcs exists and is out of date. [16:03]

orevI'm confused about ALLOWWEBRENAME, does that control if someone can rename the whole web, or just topics inside it? [23:55]
gac410I had to go read it again myself. I believe it covers renaming of the web itself, not topics within the web. [23:57]
orevok. I'll leave the access off and wait until someone complains [23:58]
