WhoWhatWhen
fsfsoh perhaps this is because Debian has patched Locale::Maketext in Perl core? [00:03]
gac410Ah... If they patched the version without bumping it, that would do it. [00:04]
fsfshttp://perl5.git.perl.org/perl.git/commitdiff/1735f6f53ca19f99c6e9e39496c486af323ba6a8 is the patch they applied from upstream [00:04]
gac410We check the version of Locale::Maketext and don't escape if version is 1.23. If they "fixed" an old version, we'll doubl escape. [00:04]
I'm not sure how we should fix that. Maybe the unit test could check for the double-escape and set the Expect Failure flag. I don't want to break the test for a "legitimately updated", or unpatched maketext.
And then there's the live situation, where a site is running a semi-patched maketext. They will end up with doubled escapes. I suppose MAKETEXT could "try" an escaped string, and if it has the double-escape, disable our patch. But that adds overhead.
[00:09]
fsfsok, I had a look at the git for Debian Perl, and it's really just the patch, no version bump for MAKETEXT or anything
they added a line in patchlevel.h, but I have no idea how to query that
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=perl/perl.git;a=commitdiff;h=151a6e59c9c4569a1225a0dda1afc148e665785c
[00:16]
gac410well, my initial gut reaction is we shouldn't be adding code to deal with half-patched broken distributions.
It's a good question for our debian packager. SvenDowideit ... you around?
[00:19]
fsfsfsfs is off to bed... [00:25]
gac410g'night fsfs [00:25]
fsfsoh, one last thought: perhaps the Debian package shouldn't ship the maketext fix then, and I could install a current version of Locale::Maketext so a fixed version is detected properly for the autobuilds [00:32]
gac410Yeah I was going to ask Sven that. But we need to be careful that the debian pgk properly requires the patched Maketext, And for people running debian but use tarball foswiki, they'll need to install the real maketext 1.23 [00:33]

rfHello. I'm pretty new to foswiki and interested in take part in the development later. I am a trainee at the moment and got the task to develop a solution to simplify the management inside the institute (using foswiki). It would be awesome if I could throw in some questions from time to time / to share some experiences. Greetz :) [06:57]
pharvey2rf: questions are extremely welcome - just ask away :) Feel free to http://foswiki.org/Development/RequestAccessToSubversion and join the http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_name=foswiki-discuss and http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_name=foswiki-svn mailing lists [07:01]

rf:) sounds great. I am currently start to dive in and already browsed parts of the source. I imagine my perl and javascript skills are not quite ready good enough to deal with greater challenges, but I hope to learn that fast enough. I installed Foswiki locally at work and played around with it a bit. [07:05]
Ahh, there I already have the first question :D. At work I accidentally crushed my FormPlugin by playing around and adding a small feature locally. Is there an easy way do print debug messages somehow? I tried to print to STDERR hoping that it would land somewhere inside the logs, what proofed was the wrong idea. Probably I just was too tired that time and overlooked sth. in the documentation. [07:10]
pharvey2rf: your Apache config may be putting your STDERR output somewhere interesting, I've had trouble sometimes with FastCGI/mod_perl configs.
rf: if you can't make STDERR work (it is a popular method), you can try Foswiki::Func::writeDebug() instead
[07:12]
FoswikiBothttp://trunk.foswiki.org/System/PerlDoc?module=Foswiki::Func [07:13]
pharvey2this will write to the Foswiki debug log in working/logs/debug.log
usually my apache has /var/log/apache2/error.log and /var/log/apache2/vhost.domain.org-error.log
[07:13]
rfThat sounds good, I will try that tomorrow. :) I think I searched through any logfile in /var/log/apache2 for anything which could have a relation to my outputs. :D But if there is something in Foswiki::Func for that purpose that could already be the solution.
pharvey2: Thanks for the fast answer. :)

Hi all! How to hide the topic from the menu (Main, System,Support, MyTopic)for all groups, except for one?
[17:16]
I edited "Set DENYWEBVIEW = %USERSWEB%.UnknownUser %USERSWEB%.WikiGuest" and "Set ALLOWWEBVIEW = %USERSWEB%.MyGroup". But other groups can see in menu my topic. [17:23]

foswiki_irc7Good afternoon
I need assistance with file conversions
Is anyone on today?
[19:47]
My team is converting our foswiki over to sharepoint 2010.I am not a fan of sharepoint however that was taken out of my hands. I need help figuring out how to convert all of out txt files in the wiki over to a sharepoint readable format such as HTML. Thanks [19:54]

foswiki_irc7Hello [20:19]
fsfsfoswiki_irc7: had a look at PublishPlugin? [20:27]
foswiki_irc7No not yet, I will do so now
We have quite a bit of information stored on our wiki. How would you approach a project such as this?
[20:27]
***ChanServ sets mode: +o gac410 [20:29]
fsfsfoswiki_irc7: i have no idea, and I've never used sharepoint. I'd say go and ask the Sharepoint dev's how to import wikitext :->
PublishPlugin creates one static html page per wiki topic, that's why I suggested it
[20:30]
foswiki_irc7I have been looking and to no avail, not many have attempted this. Our team prefers the wiki over sharepoint but despite our effors, management wants to switch
Ok so would you assume that we could use that to import them into sharepoint with the publisher?
[20:30]
fsfsI have heard about a "Universal Wiki Converter", and apparently some people have been successful exporting foswiki topics to confluence. But I don't know what that is / where it comes from
foswiki_irc7: I have no idea, really
[20:31]
foswiki_irc7Well thank you for your input
I will check these things out and discuss it with my team
[20:32]
ArtyomShymanovskHi all. Please take a look here http://foswiki.org/Support/Question1259 [20:35]

gac410ArtyomShymanovsk: have you looked at Foswiki:Extensions/HomePagePlugin [21:04]
FoswikiBothttp://foswiki.org/Extensions/HomePagePlugin [ HomePagePlugin ] [21:04]
foswiki_irc7Not in great detail no.
I appreciate the links and will see what they have.
Thansk
thanks*
[21:18]
ArtyomShymanovskgac410, thank you. But I was more comfortable variant with three conventional topics but the same name. I did not know where to insert the code "IF statements". [21:21]
gac410The menu Webs is an include I think. hang on. [21:22]
The webs are in System.WebLeftBarWebsList. But better to create a new topic than to modify one we ship. [21:30]

foswiki_irc0gac410, thanks a lot, now I'm trying to set it up [21:53]
