..... (idle for 21mn)
RichardJelinekGreetings Foslings. We're using Foswiki @ propaganda.pm ... I'd like to ask some kind soul for some bootstrap help. [09:38]
namely authentication, I'd like to restrict WebStatistics to admin only. According to http://foswiki.org/System/AccessControl#Controlling_access_to_a_topic I added the ALLOWTOPIC to http://propaganda.pm/Main/WebStatistics [09:46]
FoswikiBot[ (Propaganda.pm - Perl Programming login) WebStatistics < Main < Propaganda.pm - Perl Programming ] [09:46]
RichardJelinekBut no access control, it just gets rendered. [09:46]
CDotRichardJelinek: paste the line you added here; it's probably a syntax problem. [09:56]
RichardJelinek* Set ALLOWTOPICVIEW = admin [09:56]
CDotyou used the *login* name of the user there; you should use their *WikiName*. But at the same time, that ought to have limited the topic :-/
<three spaces>*<space>ALLOWTOPICVIEW<space>=<space>AdminUser
if you are using the WYSIWYG editor, then switch into the plaintext view (or use the plaintext editor)
[09:58]
RichardJelinekAh! AdminUser instead of admin it is. And BTW, I do not use the WYSIWYG. In fact, I would like to turn WYSIWYG off by default. [10:01]
CDotah, nice to know all our hard work is appreciated ;-)
CDot registered on the propaganda.pm site - you can ignore the rego if you want. It's just quicker to dive in and look sometimes.
CDot draws a deep breath and submerges himself in the horrors of HTTP::Daemon again
[10:02]
RichardJelinekThe hard work is appreciated. In fact, we at Propaganda.pm strongly encourage to use Perl-based products for infrastructure. So we started using Foswiki, although there is little experience with that.
Getting to know the system is the 1st contribution we can make to Foswiki. ;-)
[10:05]
CDotAny and all testing and feedback is always welcome! For the record, i don't use WYSIWYG either - and I wrote the original version of it. [10:08]
RichardJelinekTHere are some bugs in the WYSIWYG too. spaces after hrefs are being removed if you switch between wysiwyg and plain text. e.g.
We also expreience out of memory problems while running Foswiki on starman. I think I filled a bug report for that.
I think at least the Perl guys should startusing Perl software more often, because without usage, no feedback, without feedback, no improvement/evolution. Well, maybe not no improvement, but less.
I see on foswiki.org these nice icons there (edit)(attach)(history)... while we have just boring edit/attach buttons. How do I get these nice icons (and functionality) too? Extensions?

CDotRichardJelinek: those are probably from the FamFamFamContrib. Check in the FoswikiSiteSkin sources. [13:05]
............ (idle for 58mn)
RichardJelinekhm. somehow I don't get feet on the ground. No FoswikiSiteSkin topic in Foswiki (@propaganda.pm) and http://foswiki.org/Extensions/FoswikiSiteSkin seems obsolete
But I did manage to deploy a favicon and a logo :-)
[14:03]
uh
[Sat Mar 30 15:37:33 2013] configure: defined(@array) is deprecated at /srv/web/propaganda.pm/srv/www/Foswiki-1.1.3/lib/Foswiki/Net.pm line 596. Compilation failed in require at /srv/web/propaganda.pm/srv/www/Foswiki-1.1.3/lib/Foswiki/Configure/UI.pm line 208.

happens in http://propaganda.pm/bin/configure?action=FindMoreExtensions
5.16.3 perl
Ah. I see Item12413 Foswiki Compile error - Use of deprecated syntax (defined @array) on perl 5.16.x. Patch available in the task.

RichardJelinekI fixed it locally, simple removal of define. But in the course of that I had to look at the code. Now I'm blind. :-) [14:32]
