TerjeAndersenWhat is the best way to go about taking existing WikiUsers into consideration when installing LdapContrib? I basicly have a list over username - WikiName that the Ldap cache refresh process needs to take into consideration. What's the best way to extend LdapContrib to allow this?
That is: users that had a distinct WikiName they chose themselves when registering should be able to keep it after LdapContrib is up and running.
[11:41]
........ (idle for 38mn)
jastLdapContrib has a config setting to rewrite WikiNames
you can use this to turn the name generated by LdapContrib into the name the user had before
[12:20]
TerjeAndersenyeah that could work :-)
the second thing is that it is some non-human users in Ldap that I don't want to process
but for that I guess I'll have to rumble in the code a bit
[12:20]
..... (idle for 20mn)
***ChanServ sets mode: +o gac410 [12:42]
MichaelDaumTerjeAndersen, no code rumbling should be required. There are enuf was to configure filters and the like to exclude the non-human records.
^enuf ways^
[12:47]
rf{Ldap}{Exclude} prevents from searching certain names in LDAP.
Ah, nothing said.. these users are in your LDAP..
[12:54]
.... (idle for 18mn)
TerjeAndersenMichaelDaum: Yes, I found that I could add an (&( to {LoginFilter}, which let me exclude quite a lot of dn's
rf: thanks for the tip :-)

TerjeAndersenMichaelDaum: About LdapContrib, I'm still a bit puzzled on what to do with our existing users. Until now they could choose whatever WikiName they wanted so that login john.doe@ourcompany.com could map to FunnyClown if they chose that name during registration. After LdapContrib this user will most likely become JohnDoe instead of FunnyClown. Any ideas on how to "preserve the past" so that john.doe@ourcompany.com still maps to FunnyClown (since th
several times *
[13:51]
MichaelDaumTerjeAndersen, use the {WikiNameAliases} feature: JohnDoe=FunnyClown, NotherOne=NotherClown, ... [13:53]
TerjeAndersenok, guess i would have to build the cache, then see which users got a different wikiname now from the one they chose themselves, then populate {WikiNameAliases} ...
but what happens if i put {WikiNameAliases} = JohnDoe=FunnyClown, and FunnyClown already exists in the cache? Which one will "win"?
I can ofcourse do some tests :-)
Thanks again
[13:55]
.... (idle for 16mn)
jastwho wins is sort of arbitrary
if FunnyClown was in the cache before you even set up aliases, chances are the old one will win, and the new one (the alias you created) will get a 1 appended

foswiki_irc5hello - I'm trying to just use the simple comment plugin
and I don't see any examples that I can copy from
does anyone where were I can get the code to just have a add comment button at the bottom of a topic, to add comments?
[16:38]
..... (idle for 20mn)
also the workflow/approval plugin...hard to find examples [16:59]
gac410foswiki_irc5: just add %COMMENT{}%
foswiki_irc5: Did you look at Foswiki:Sandbox/CommentPluginExamples Your site should also have a copy of that. View the raw wikitext version to see how they are done.
[17:00]
FoswikiBothttp://foswiki.org/Sandbox/CommentPluginExamples [ CommentPluginExamples ] [17:02]
foswiki_irc5hmm its not showing up correctly in my sandbox topic
the buttons don't show
or comment boxes
[17:05]
gac410Does a %COMMENT% literal show? [17:06]
foswiki_irc5no [17:06]
gac410Look at System/InstalledPlugins ... make sure CommentPlugin is listed as installed and enabled. [17:06]
foswiki_irc5but it shows nothing when i put it in wikitext at the bottom of the page
CommentPlugin is listed under installed plugins
[17:06]
gac410And no errors? [17:07]
foswiki_irc5no, but there is an error with MetaCommentPlugin
don't know if that matters
[17:07]
gac410Ah.... I think MetaCommentPlugin "replaces" CommentPlugin [17:07]
foswiki_irc5oh ok let me remove metacomment [17:08]
gac410I have not used that plugin though, so I'm not familiar with it. [17:08]
foswiki_irc5or just disabled it? [17:08]
gac410Just disable for first try. [17:08]
foswiki_irc5actually it already says its disabled in the rror
error
but i'll uncheck it from the config
[17:08]
gac410Hm... Are you using NatSkin too? [17:09]
foswiki_irc5yeah its installed
disabled metacomment didn't work
[17:09]
gac410NatSkin is MichaelDaum_ extension as is MetaCommentPlugin. I'm not sure if installing these somehow changes the skin / templates for CommentPlugin
Is this a new install?
[17:11]
foswiki_irc5yeah
i can disabled natskin too
not using it
[17:12]
gac410I really don't know. Skin's don't really get enabled/disabled.
That gets specified in a SKIN = setting in SitePreferences
Try yoursite/Sandbox/CommentPluginExamples?debugenableplugins=CommentPlugin;skin=default
That should generate the page with ONLY the comment plugin enabled, and all skins disabled.
[17:12]
foswiki_irc5hmm not following
where do i enter that
[17:14]
gac410Foswiki:Sandbox/CommentPluginExamples?debugenableplugins=CommentPlugin;skin=default except on your site [17:15]
FoswikiBothttp://foswiki.org/Sandbox/CommentPluginExamples?debugenableplugins=CommentPlugin;skin=default [ CommentPluginExamples ] [17:15]
foswiki_irc5ok still no buttons or comment boxes with using that url
i also see this error at the bottom: No such template def TMPL:DEF{PROMPT:example}
in red
[17:16]
gac410Ah... good. So the CommentPlugin templates are missing.
Did you change the settings for the template paths in bin/configure?
[17:17]
foswiki_irc5no thats still default
i only changed it for data and pub
[17:19]
gac410Changed what for data and pub [17:19]
foswiki_irc5the paths [17:19]
gac410oh.. okay.
Yeah those paths you do need to set. That would not be i.t
in your foswiki/templates/ directory, there should be a comments.tmpl file ... is that there?
[17:19]
foswiki_irc5yeah its ther [17:21]
gac410hm... so it must be a setting somewhere.
Is COMMENTPLUGIN_TEMPLATES set somewhere?
[17:22]
foswiki_irc5where would i look? [17:23]
gac410System.DefaultPreferences, Main.SitePreferences, web.WebPreferences Main.<your-user-topic> ... [17:23]
foswiki_irc5i dont see it set anywhere... [17:25]
gac410I have no idea if MetaCommentPlugin or NatSkin does anything to CommentPlugin settings. I've never installed NatSkin. The Set COMMENTPLUGIN_TEMPLATES = comments (which is default) points to templates/comments.tmpl which has that PROMPT:example template [17:29]
foswiki_irc5ok so i'll try adding "Set COMMENTPLUGIN_TEMPLATES = comments" to default preferences? [17:30]
gac410Never change DefaultPreferences. Override in Main.SitePreferences
MichaelDaum_: are you around? Should installing MetaCommentPlugin and NatSkin disable the default CommentPlugin
[17:30]
foswiki_irc5oh ok
so try it in main
[17:32]
gac410Main.SitePreferences " * Set COMMENTPLUGIN_TEMPLATES = comments"
Recommend raw edit, not wysiwyg!
[17:32]
foswiki_irc5the wikitext editor? [17:34]
gac410yes [17:35]
foswiki_irc5ok didn't work
unless i need to bounce something
[17:37]
..... (idle for 22mn)
hmm not sure what else to do
maybe uninstall and re-install the plugin
from yum?
[18:00]
gac410Hm... No idea. Nor do I have *any* clue on how the RPM packages install stuff. You may need to stop back and check in when MichaelDaum_ or SvenDowideit are around. (They are in Europe and Australia)
Sven builds the RPM and .deb packages. Michael maintains NatSkin, MetaComment and that whole ecosystem.
[18:01]
foswiki_irc5ok
i'll try again later
thanks
[18:03]
gac410You might want to assign a /nick so we know who you are when you come back.
Also you can check the IRC Logs to see if anyone responded with other ideas while you are offline
[18:04]
zipperok
nick changed
[18:05]
gac410Okay zipper. Sorry I couldn't help more. I'm not sure what else might be breaking CommentPlugin. [18:06]
MartinCleaver2hey when would you expect 1.1.9 to be released? [18:13]
.................... (idle for 1h35mn)
gac410MartinCleaver2: No real plan yet for 1.1.9 [19:48]
MartinCleaver2alright, thanks George, just wanted to check [19:49]
gac410I think MichaelDaum_ found an issue with CDot's fix, so that all needs to get ironed out. [19:50]
MartinCleaver2Would 1.1.9 be released once that's ready? Or are there other things in the queue? [19:51]
gac410See http://foswiki.org/Tasks/ReleaseNotes?release=1.1.9 ... We need to figure out the Maketext mess caused by distro's that update code silently without updating the version.
It would be nice to fix Item12448 as well. That one is ugly though :(
[19:53]
FoswikiBothttp://foswiki.org/Tasks/Item12448 [ Item12448: WYSIWYG-Editor: Table Cell Background Color lost on save ] [19:54]
gac410Item12446 is minor but should be slotted for 1.1.9 [19:55]
FoswikiBothttp://foswiki.org/Tasks/Item12446 [ Item12446: Dependency check is inconsistent with Perl version comparisons ] [19:55]
MartinCleaver2http://foswiki.org/Tasks/Item12466 is the one I most care about [19:56]
gac410Yeah, that's the one micha says is not quite right yet.
Item12444 is flagged as a blocker, but I have limited knowledge on fixing the I18N issues
[19:57]
FoswikiBothttp://foswiki.org/Tasks/Item12444 [ Item12444: Wysiwyg error: "Wide character in subroutine entry" ] [19:58]
gac410The rest of the Blockers for "release branch" are really trunk. but document is "n/a" because they are fixing trunk bugs that have not been released. [19:59]
MartinCleaver2y, I have now realized that 12446 has the conversation
Ok. I will talk to Enrique again. Thanks for now :)
