WhoWhatWhen
TheDershello
how do I set permissions for Topics under a secure WEB?
for example
I have a WEB with about 10 topics under it
but I want to make one of those topics publically viewable on our network
is that possible without having to change the WEB access controls?
I tried setting the TOPIC access controls for that topic but they won't take
probably doing it wrong
but the directions say - You can define these settings in any topic, preferable towards the end of the topic:
like at the bottom of the topic?
and won't that be visible text in that topic?
sorta confusing
[00:07]
SvenDowideityes
you can set ALLOWTOPICVIEW=guest on a topic in a web that is DENYWEBVIEW=guest
[00:11]
TheDersWikiGuest right?
at least thats how it is for my Wiki
[00:12]
SvenDowideitmost often ACl setting don't 'take' when they're not spelt exactly right
yup
[00:12]
TheDersSet DENYTOPICVIEW = Set ALLOWTOPICVIEW = SecurityGroup, ReadOnlyGroup, WikiGuest Set DENYTOPICCHANGE = WikiGuest Set ALLOWTOPICCHANGE = SecurityGroup, EngineerGroup Set DENYTOPICRENAME = WikiGuest Set ALLOWTOPICRENAME = AdminGroup, SecurityGroup
thats my setting right now
i left denytopic view blank
[00:12]
SvenDowideitthe magic sauce is three spaces, star, space , Set, space, equals, space [00:12]
TheDersah okay so I need those asterics then? [00:13]
SvenDowideitcorrect [00:13]
TheDersahhh
and this way any un-authenticated user can view that topic and nothing else?
thats kinda what im testing out
[00:13]
SvenDowideityes - should be :) [00:14]
TheDerssweet [00:14]
gac410One comment - if you are using Wysiwyg editor, then you need a bullet, which is the same as 3-spaces Asterisk in raw topics. [00:14]
TheDersright on, thanks
bitchin, it works!
is there a way to hide the permissions I set at the bottom of the topic?
cause now its visible
i don't want a bunch of random users knowing my Groups and Users lol

jastCDot: well, such as configure freezing the browser for about 15 seconds after each click (depending on the browser; chrome, for example)
that's quite a blocker IMO
and yeah, that's really the big thing. I can't think of anything else right now.
[06:28]
CDotyeah, configure is a mess, but we can rewind to the 1.1.9 configure fairly easily. I have a new configure on the stocks, which supports REST access to configuration settings and also runs within the Foswiki environment, eliminating the previous disconnect between configure and Foswiki
however it does not need to be a release blocker, as it will roll out as an extension when it's ready

foswiki_irc6hi,
how can i update a usb version 1.1 to 1.1.8?
[13:34]
........ (idle for 37mn)
foswiki_irc7any ldap help around? I'm looking for help with groups ... still :) [14:12]
.... (idle for 19mn)
how does $Foswiki::cfg{Ldap}{LoginAttribute} relate to $Foswiki::cfg{Ldap}{GroupAttribute}? [14:31]
fulekiaMichaelDaum: I'm playing with WebDB.pm, trying to add some example attributes to the onReload() method (e.g., $topic->set('foo', 'bar');), but they don't show up in a DBDUMP, even after blowing away the DB and restarting apache..
Am I missing something?
[14:34]
MichaelDaumDBDUMP doesnt render them even though they are cached. [14:35]
fulekiaHmm.. I was trying to add a stub for workflowstate. How do I get to it to access it?
foswiki_irc7: LoginAttribute should be hid, or whatever is the unique user id in your LDAP schema.
uid I men.
Ack. need coffee.
MichaelDaum: so how could I just add a key: vale pair for workflowstate?
It looks like dbDump() just steps through all the keys in a topic object.
[14:36]
MichaelDaumfulekia, just follow the META:COMMENT example in the code: in WebDB.pm and in Core.pm where DBDUMP is implemented [14:38]
foswiki_irc7i have login working with LoginAttribute=userPrincipalName - which is in effect email - and that works [14:39]
fulekiaYeah, I was looking at that, but I don't need an iterator, since I'm just pulling a single value from workflowstate. Maybe I didn't grok it the first time. [14:39]
MichaelDauminteresting wysiwyg behavior: you can undo beyond the level of changes ... and then choke tinymce [14:50]
fulekiaLOL!
Too bad it doesn't go back in time...
[14:50]
MichaelDaumhow to repro: type one change. click undo twice. [14:50]
fulekiaI really avoid giving my users WYSIWYG's. They are evil. [14:51]
MichaelDaumthe users? [14:51]
fulekiaYou are very wise, sir…
MichaelDaum: what's the easiest way to trash the dbcache for debugging? I'lm deleting and restarting apache every time to see if my changes work...
[14:51]
MichaelDaumhttp://...?refresh=dbcache [14:55]
fulekiaWow. I am dumb.
Weird. I still have to restart apache to see the difference.
[15:05]
MichaelDaumare you on mod_perl? [15:20]
fulekiaDumb developer question: how to I write to a foswiki log? I'm trying to debug something. [15:31]
When running in cgi/fastcgi, where does STDERR go? [15:36]
foswiki_irc7httpd logs? [15:38]
fulekiaAhh, it's in apache error_log
I kept thinking it was in the foswiki logs
thx
[15:39]
.... (idle for 16mn)
foswiki_irc7my debug logs show => called search(filter=(&(objectClass=group)(cn=[the thing in {LoginAttribute}])),
why would the thing I use for LoginAttribute be related to ' This is the name of the attribute that holds the name of the group in a group record. '
the name of the group is not going to be the currently logged in userPrincipalName (aka my email)
[15:55]
....... (idle for 32mn)
foswiki_irc6hi, has anyone tested usb-version on win8? [16:29]
rhysdoes anyone know of a way I can make foswiki do a QA kinda thing?
Right now we have a extremely old version of phpBB that needs to die.
I'm like, hey, we should use the wiki for these kind of knowledge base questions
[16:31]
........ (idle for 37mn)
fulekiarhys: there are some examples of that on foswiki.org, I think
It would be a very simple template
foswiki_irc6: what's the usb version?
[17:08]
.......... (idle for 46mn)
foswiki_irc9hi
how can i update a usb version from 1.1.5 to 1.1.8?
[17:54]
fulekiafoswiki_irc9: I've never used it, but I'd assume you can just follow the normal upgrade instructions (download update zip, extract over top of existing install). I'd backup first though. [18:05]
