rfHello,
did anyone run into a message like "SOME_CONSTANT is not exported by the Net::LDAP::Constant module at MODULE" while trying to install something which depends on NET::LDAP?
I have read that installations of LdapContrib crashed in the past because of that. (http://foswiki.org/Tasks/Item8967 , http://foswiki.org/Support/Question560 )
Is that problem actually solved?
[11:11]
FoswikiBot[ LdapContrib installation errors ] [11:11]
rfI believe the problem is that LDAP/Constants.pm doesnt export any constants by default but on demand by parsing its own POD. Therefore the module which checks for this dependencies maybe should prefetch such strange modules before and do some tests by hand. That way maybe those ugly errors would vanish. [11:18]

CDotrf: tests by hand are a PITA to maintain [13:33]

rfCDot: you are right and it is possible that other modules get in the way by different tricks and magic so the solution by expander.pl seems ok. I was just a bit confused what was happening there. [13:48]

TheDersdoes FOS Wiki take a performance hit with the increase of attachments uploaded to the Wiki? [17:09]

foswiki_irc2sorry my webchat froze on me and I wasn't sure if anyone responded during that time, ill send the question again
does FOS Wiki take a performance hit with the increase of attachments uploaded to the Wiki?

TheDers- [21:34]

gac410TheDers: Generally no, attachments don't cost much once they are there, especially if you let apache serve them instead of using viewfile
The one big killer on large attachments is the RCS checkin and listing of revisions
[21:51]

TheDersokay cool cause typically we are just uploading visio diagrams, excel files and word files on our Wiki and I was concerned for a performance drop
thanks for the info
[22:07]
gac410yw [22:08]
TheDerswe have been experiencing some performance drops recently though, do you think FastCGI plugin will help with that?
its just slowness within our Wiki
accessing other webs
and logging in
[22:08]
gac410FastCGI is very important for performance, so yes that should help. What version of Foswiki do you run?
The big hits are searches, and pages with lots of tables.

TheDerssorry for the late response, we are running the latest
1.18
or whatever its called
1.1.8
[23:30]
gac410yes that's the latest
There is an experimental, but reasonably well tested patch that can improve Foswiki performance
[23:30]
TheDersyeah lately our searches have been sluggish when we have someone doing a search for an IP address in our logs [23:31]
gac410http://foswiki.org/Extensions/Testing/PatchItem11983Contrib [23:31]
TheDersinteresting [23:31]
gac410Extensions like Foswiki:Extensions.SolrPlugin can really help with search performance. [23:34]

TheDersawesome thank you [23:44]
