MarcKloterHello. We're expiriiencing a problem with the deletion of categoriezed and uncategoriezed topics (using the ClassificationPlugin): if we delete a categoriezed topic, we get redirected to its categorie topic, but if we delte an uncategoriezed topic, we get redirected to the trash WebHome. Is there a way to define the default redirect (instead into the trash)? [08:07]

orevare there any extensions or recommended ways to create a snapshot of a whole web? I need to have snapshots at a specific version
it seems like copying the whole directory would be the simplest, but I'd like to make it user-accessible
[15:38]
gac410Take a look at Foswiki:Extensions/PublishPlugin [15:42]

xdaxdbI'm having issues running dependencies_installer.pl: Could not open file "../working/configure/pkgdata/".
i'm running it as root
[16:36]
gac410xdaxdb: I'd recommend just reviewing Foswik:System/SystemRequirements and using whatever tools your system recommends for installing perl modules.
dependencies_installer is a "try to do everything for everyone" script.
[16:38]
xdaxdbyeah i'm reading that right now... problem is foswiki isn't working so I am assuming its because I don't have all the needed perl modules [16:40]
gac410What does it fail with?
It should have basic functionality even without the dependencies. we ship critical ones in a library as a last resort.
[16:40]
xdaxdbgive me a bit, I tried installing this last week and it wasn't working so I gave up and tried dokuwiki. I got dokuwiki working but I didn't like it so now I'm trying to install foswiki again. It will take me a minute to recreate what I saw last week [16:43]
gac410What OS are you installing on? [16:43]
xdaxdbFedora 19 on PPC [16:43]
you know i think i figured out the problem... I'm trying to install foswiki to the root of my webserver and the config file genrator is trying to make a virtualhost
so i need another DNS rocrd
[16:52]
gac410IIRC If you omit the hostname in the ApacheConfigGenerator, then it won't give you the virtualhost stuff [16:53]
xdaxdband our DNS admin is also our sharepoint admin, so i'm gonna have to be sneaky about this
or i can try that
[16:53]
gac410" Some people use Name Based virtual hosting. If you want to define a virtual host, enter the qualified hostname here, otherwise leave blank. " [16:53]
xdaxdblol oops
so i should rewrite my entire httpd.conf with this file?
its the only thing running on this websrver
eh lets try it ;)
[16:54]
gac410No, Just Include it, It doesn't have all the normal default apache config. Just the stuff needed for Foswiki [16:55]
xdaxdboh [16:55]
AH01215: Can't locate CGI/Carp.pm in @INC
I don't have much experience with perl
[17:01]
gac410what version of perl are you running? ( perl -v ) [17:02]
xdaxdbThis is perl 5, version 16, subversion 3 (v5.16.3) built for ppc64-linux-thread-multi [17:03]
gac410hm... CGI is shipped by default with perl. CGI::Carp is part of that. Perl was talking about removing CGI from the most recent versions though :(
I don't know the fedora package names off hand. hm...
[17:03]
xdaxdbwell aren't there like CPAN commands i can use? (CPAN is the package manager right?)(
perl-Carp.noarch : Alternative warn and die for modules
[17:04]
gac410the package is perl-CPI
er... perl-CGI
[17:05]
xdaxdbPackage perl-Carp-1.26-243.fc19.noarch already installed and latest version LOL
lets see...
[17:05]
gac410Yeah perl-Carp is different from perl-CGI which provides it's own version of Carp [17:06]
xdaxdboh ok so now I've progressed to a new error
good stuff
this error is coming from the browser
Can't locate Digest/MD5.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /var/www/html/foswiki/lib
at /var/www/html/foswiki/lib/Foswiki.pm line 50.
there were some other paths listed as well I ommitted them
[17:07]
gac410Okay... Another missing package. :( perl-Digest-MD5 ??? just guessing.
Might as well review Foswiki:System/SystemRequirements#RedHat_44_SuSE_44_CentOS_and_other_RPM_based_distributions
[17:09]
FoswikiBothttp://foswiki.org/System/SystemRequirements#RedHat_44_SuSE_44_CentOS_and_other_RPM_based_distributions [ SystemRequirements ] [17:10]
xdaxdbso I should be using yum to install these. Thats good I like that last week i was trying to use CPAN [17:10]
gac410Fedora seems to have removed what I thought were core perl packages
corelist:CGI
hm... Foswikibot: corelist CGI
gac410 can't remember how to do corelist
Digest::MD5 was first released with perl v5.7.3 so that should be installed by default. (#@*&$ distros
[17:11]
xdaxdbi think i'm beyond perl errors now
Foswiki Configuration Error
Please run configure to create a valid configuration
[17:12]
gac410Have you run the bin/configure tool [17:12]
xdaxdbnot yet [17:12]
gac410That's next.
http://yoursite.com/bin/configure or /foswiki/bin/configure ... whatever your apache is set up to need
[17:12]
xdaxdboh LMAO i tried running it from the command line
wait its asking me for authentication
i never configured any
[17:14]
gac410Options in ApacheConfigGenerator
Security related settings: Enter the IP address range or hostnames that will have access to configure Separate with spaces. Can be partial networks (example: localhost 192.168.1.2 192.168.2) :
If you know apache configurations, I'd recommend giving configure it's own dedicated .htpasswd file, keep it very private / separate from the wiki configuraitno.
[17:15]
xdaxdbawsome I've got a working isntall. Thanks a bunch
i need to take a bio and then I'm gonna dive into this
[17:17]
gac410Great. In Configure, it will tell you if there are other missing dependencies. [17:18]
xdaxdbyeah i see a coupole errors [17:18]
gac410It will also want you to configure email. [17:18]
................................... (idle for 2h53mn)
xdaxdbI want to create a page for each server we manage. Our naming convention is all lower case with numbers. How would you suggest making this work well with WIkiWords [20:11]
gac410A couple of different strategies ... ServerXxxxyyyy - Server prefix with upper as the first character of the name Or some similar prefix [20:13]
xdaxdbok, thats what I was thinking, a prefix. People are going to complain about the first letter of the server hostname being capitalized though [20:14]
gac410If it's going to be a wiki app, another choice is using a meaningless topic name, Server0001 (There is an AUTOINC for incrementing names) And then put the actual hostname in a form field.
You don't have to use wikiwords. You just won't get auto-linking.
[20:14]
xdaxdbahhh
auto-linking may not be that important
[20:14]
gac410There is also the "FindElsewhere anc ControlWikiword plugin, where you can write rules for matching. We use that so that our task items Itemxxxx are found anywhere used on foswiki.org
Hm. The InterwikiPlugin can do things like match a prefix Server:asdfasdf maps to the appropriate link for asdfasdf
We use that for things like Foswikiref:12345
er. Foswikirev:12345
[20:15]
FoswikiBothttp://trac.foswiki.org/changeset/12345 [ Changeset 12345 – Foswiki ] [20:17]
gac410There are way too many ways to accomplish things on foswiki sometimes. :) [20:18]
xdaxdbhehe [20:18]
gac410gac410 runs off to kill some users. (not literally :) ) Spammers strike foswiki again. [20:18]
xdaxdbso far I am liking it much more than dokuwiki [20:19]
gac410Great! Glad to hear that. [20:27]
......... (idle for 41mn)
xdaxdbI'm not sure exactly how I got to this situation but I can't seem to log in as AdminUser
is there a way I can add my user account to the AdminUser Group from the command line?
it's sort of weird because I am able to configure most settings as is without even logging in
because I set up only IP address security using the configuration tool
but I want to create a "web" now and it looks like I will have to be logged in as a user in the AdminUser Group to do that
[21:08]
oh wait.. i think i'm on to tsomething [21:16]
gac410There is a special user called "admin" Don't use AdminUser
User "admin" password as set when you saved from /bin/configure
If you register a real user JoeUser, Then you can add that user to the AdminGroup.
[21:16]
xdaxdbyeah the instructions were staring me right in the face lol
thanks though
