gac410Hey CDot .. regarding cover vs. skin. The "subtle" part ... I thought ?cover=print should be identical to ?skin=print, pattern Ie they both prepend to the skin. [13:50]
CDotit is, so long as COVER and SKIN don't get involved/ [13:51]
gac410However visually, they are very different. http://foswiki.org/Main/WebHome?cover=print vs http://foswiki.org/Main/WebHome?skin=print,pattern The latter has an extra box border around the pabe.
On trunk.foswiki.org, it's even much more pronounced.
[13:52]
CDotpossibly someone, somewhere, is using a getPreference("SKIN") where there should be a $session->getSkin()
you can check in the code with a writeDebug statement at the end of the getSkin function
[13:56]
gac410interesting. Is it a bug, or a "That's the way it works" [13:57]
CDotit ought to show the same for ?skin=print, pattern and SKIN=pattern ; ?cover=print
dunno; depends where the difference arises
[13:57]
gac410yeah That's what I thought, and it's what triggered my comment that there is a subtle difference. Okay maybe I'll poke around a bit. [13:58]
CDotplease do; I'm saturated for today, having debugged the preferences [13:58]
gac410on trunk its a big difference. Page centers vs. left justified.
:)
[13:59]
CDotCDot has gone to hack some plasterboard [13:59]
gac410Foswiki 1.0.9 no difference between cover and skin.
have fun :)

gac410howdy CDot - back from plasterboard? I figured out the cover vs skin difference and documented it, as I don't think it's a bug. the templates have tests for URLPARAM{cover} [17:51]
CDotI saw that, and I vaguely recall reading that in the templates
nasty :-(
[17:52]
gac410It goes way back ... Foswiki 1.0.9 has some similar tests, but the results are not as noticeable. [17:54]
CDoty, suspect it goes right back to the beginning of pattern skin [17:57]
gac410In any event, I'm not much of a css / skin wizard ... so I don't see it as anything wrong, just something to document about the behavior.
It just had me a bit confused when I was trying to answer the support question.
[17:58]
CDotsure, it's fine. Unless someone designs a new skin, that is. [17:59]
gac410ah. Well that's soooo far out of my reach, I'll gladly let someone else worry about it :)
Ah... another little annoyance. I added some rules to the AntiWikiSpamPlugin registration email blacklist. It doesn't seem to be working. I need to do some debugging.
ah okay ... looking
[18:00]
CDotoh; I just noticed it needs an API key. I seem to remember having to register.... [18:07]
gac410Whoops :) [18:07]
CDotCDot has not run =configure=
CDot will do that in the morning. For now, supper is calling.

StaceyPriceis there a way to mass import existing word docs in fosWiki? We have documentation in folders that we would like to dump into a wiki. thank you! [19:06]
gac410Nothing that does it in bulk that I'm aware of. There is the Foswiki:Extensions.WebDAVContrib - a commercial extension to Foswiki that allows WebDAV clients direct access to the wiki. [19:09]
FoswikiBothttp://foswiki.org/Extensions.WebDAVContrib [ WebDAVContrib ] [19:09]
gac410Word docs can be difficult as they generate some rather arcane HTML iirc.
I'm by no means knowledgable on any of this though. I'd suggest asking back at other times.
Many of the developers are in Europe and are offline right now.
[19:11]
....... (idle for 31mn)
StaceyPriceok thanks...i will ask again. [19:43]
gac410By the way, It's not bulk, but I vaguely recall that the Foswiki TinyMCE editor has some code to do a bit of clean up of text copied/pasted from word into the editor. But it probably doesn't get much testing. [19:45]
