harlanIf I've got a spammer logged in, what do I need to do to revoke their perms? I figure just removing them from the .htpasswd file will be insufficient. [09:49]
pharvey1harlan: you'd also need to delete their session [09:49]
harlanwhat's an easy way to do that?
or "a way"?
[09:50]
pharvey1It's been a while... CDot? CGI sessions are stored in working/ IIRC
perhaps they're greppable
[09:50]
harlanI'll try - thanks! [09:50]
CDotcorrect [09:51]
harlanthanks! [09:51]
CDot: I haven't made more progress on that other issue yet, and I'm going to be busy for another week. [09:57]
CDotharlan: ok. I'll get on with painting the house, then :-) [09:58]
harlanwhat color?
OK, what can I do to prevent the spammer from creating a new login?
Change their user topic to be uneditable?
and force their .htpasswd email line to something bogus?
[09:58]
CDotthere are many tools to block spammers. You can easily block a specific regsitration by simply registering your own with the same name [10:03]
harlan'k, thx [10:03]
CDotbut that will probably deter them for less than a second [10:03]
harlan:)
pwd
[10:03]
CDotother than that, the AntiWikiSpamPlugin and HoneyPotPlugin deal with spammers
there are probably others, those are just the ones I use
[10:04]
harlan'k, thx!
it's 0313 here and I will probably need to take this up again after I wake up.

pylearnerhow can i display a first and last name as a variable and pull this from wiki name and have it display on a way
on a page i mean not way
[15:20]
Tarbox1Your users have to cooperate a little [15:20]
pylearnerI know i can do <nolink> %WIKIUSERNAME% </nolink> but it will do FirstnameLastname
:)
dern
[15:20]
Tarbox1Ah well then that's easier.
There's a properspace function that'll space out wikiusername for you
[15:21]
pylearneroh cool [15:21]
Tarbox1but your wikiusers have to be using their real names as their wikinames. [15:21]
pylearnerthey all are
how do i do the properspace fucntion
[15:21]
Tarbox1hold on looking it up
There are two ways and I can't remember which is, hehe, proper.
[15:21]
pylearnercool ya man thanks for the help yesterday
and today too
c00l man
[15:21]
Tarbox1http://foswiki.org/System/VarSPACEOUT
There's also a %CALC function for it.
[15:22]
pylearner%SPACEOUT{ "%WIKIUSERNAME%" } would this work? [15:24]
Tarbox1yeah.
well you need the last % but yeah.
[15:24]
pylearnerahh ok
now for this I should put this on the template itself right?
[15:24]
Tarbox1where are you putting it? Visually. [15:25]
pylearneri think it needs to be on the template itself
so when i hit submit
the wiki markup language will justake
and the submitter will be the creater
or will it save as me when i create the template and thats it
i can just throw caution to the wind and find out
[15:25]
Tarbox1Making the new page is a call to the edit script, the submitter will be the creator since it is the submitter calling the edit script.
Yeah do that. It's fun.
[15:27]
pylearnerok i wont torture you I have done dates before i need a dynamic date :) i think it is %SERVERTIME{ "$month-$day-$year" }% for what i am wanting [15:29]
Tarbox1I've never played with that. I'm only slightly less beginner than you.

For some reason bin/configure/FindMoreExtensions isn't giving me a button to install the things I've checked to install. I'm on trunk. [17:13]
gac410Ah... Are you running a pseudo-install checkout?
from svn or git?
[17:13]
Tarbox1Not sure.
I think so?
[17:14]
gac410Did you create the initial install by either a git or subversion checkout? And then ran ./pseudo-install.pm developer (or default?) [17:14]
Tarbox1That sounds vaguely familiar.
The first part yes
I did a checkout.
I've seen the words pseudo-install.pm before but I don't know if I ran the command.
[17:15]
gac410When you visit the extensions installer, the currently installed extensions will have a blue background and say pseudo installed, with no checkbox to remove them. [17:15]
Tarbox1I've got green and peach for installed extensions. [17:16]
gac410hm. [17:16]
Tarbox1where's the button supposed to be? Being blind is an option. [17:16]
gac410Ah... it's at the top of the screen. floats there no matter where you scroll
Should be right next to the logout button.
but if configure sees pseudo-installed extensions, then it doesn't show the button.
[17:18]
Tarbox1Nope, just logout. There's an "Install and Update Extensions" box in the dom with display: none
If I remove that I have the options.
[17:19]
gac410Right. That's because configure knows you are running from an svn / git checkout. [17:19]
Tarbox1k. How to fix? [17:20]
gac410In a checkout, you would normally install extensions from shell. cd to your foswiki root and then ./pseudo-install.pl YourDesiredPlugin [17:20]
Tarbox1thanks [17:20]
gac410It will symlink to the checkout extensino, and if necessary, fetch a fresh copy from the github repo. [17:21]
Tarbox1@_@ I don't have that script. [17:21]
gac410hm If you installed from git or svn checkout it should be there.
if you installed from tarball, it will not.
