gmchowdy fossies... it may be a bit of a bumpy ride today, as i'm doing maintenance on the server rack
(basically, moveing all the servers ~ 2 meters to the right)
[12:18]
................... (idle for 1h32mn)
ok, foswiki.org going down in about 5 minutes [13:50]
***ChanServ sets mode: +o gac410 [13:59]
gac410ping gmc, how are you making out? [14:09]
gmcah, you missed the announcement, i'm moving servers at the moment
foswiki.org should be back up in a bit
[14:17]
gac410nah... I saw the announcement. Just wondering, and if it goes well and you have some time, I wanted to chat a bit. ... maybe on admin channel would be best
Have fun moving ... I'm well aware of what that often entails :)
[14:17]
gmci've managed to only cut myself twice yet, damn cage nuts [14:22]
gac410yeah they are a real pain. screwdriver jammed into the palm on a few occasions. Those and tinnerman clips
Threaded racks are much better .... until you start discovering cross-threaded holes.
[14:29]
gmchehe
well foswiki.org is back up, it'll be unreachable for a bit later when i plug in the final network cables
[14:33]
gac410yea looking good. When you get time I just wanted to review some of the config changes I've made and some stuff that monit keeps annoying me about. [14:34]
gmcbest are the rackmount kits that don't require nuts or threaded racks, but just have a thread themselve.. i have one of those..
aight, won't be until tonight at the earliest, i'm gonna be tied up here for a while
[14:36]
gac410okay. no hurry at all. Or even another time. Just figired I need to review with someone sometime. The constant v. high system cpu % probably ought to be considered too. [14:37]
Either that or turn off registration, and tell people they need to visit IRC and request access. A-holes the lot of them (spammers that is) [14:45]

gac410Hey CDot ... did my attempt at an explanation on merging pull requests make sense? [19:05]
CDotyes, thank you very much, it did
not something I want to attempt any time soon - but when I do, I have the information!
[19:05]
gac410good. tbh it's really cool that people are just contributing stuff out of the blue.
btw... I removed the "Set topic parent" menu from More Topic Actions menu on foswiki.org. It was taking 1-2 minutes to render for the main web. I was going crazy trying to use it to delete the "MARKEDFORDELETION" stuff
[19:06]
CDotthat's one of the many UI problems :-( [19:13]

GithubBot[distro] cdot pushed 1 new commit to master: http://git.io/LMOx0g
distro/master 0203b40 Comment: Item13068: store migration: tools/bulk_copy.pl script to support clean migration of data from one Foswiki install to another. Various fixes to borked RCS code found along the way. Added the capability to call store actions while suppressing plugin handlers. Removed never-populated CREATEINFO meta - think this was something Sven never finished

mephinetgac410: thanks again for your support yesterday, by now I have a working foswiki running from the git checkout. As advertised, the auto-guessing of the configuration worked great! [23:37]

gac410mephinet: Excellent. that's great news. Thanks for the feedback.
Did you go with lighttpd or with apache?
[23:55]
mephinetI decided to go with Apache, used the generator, which worked out fine. Of course, I locked myself out, then re-read your instructions *g* [23:57]
gac410Okay thanks. If you can think of any suggestions on how to avoid the lockout, that's a major concern with the bootstrap process. That and needing to test in lots of strange environments.
btw there is also a command line configure tool. use tools/configure it should give some help. You can set parameters from the shell without resorting to editing files.
