foswiki_irc9hi all
I updated my old foswiki to a new one and hav some issues
First thing I installed last Foswiki version from scratch
Its work fine
Then I move my old pub/MyWeb and data/MyWeb to the new pud and data directory
When I go to MyWeb, I have the error : "Warning: Can't find topic .WebLeftBarWebsList"
Try to create a new topic called "WebLeftBarWebsList" as view in this IRC page : http://irclogs.foswiki.org/bin/irclogger_log/foswiki?date=2012-03-14,Wed
But another one error : "Warning: Can't find topic .WebTopicCreator"
So it looks like a never end issue !
Thanks for your advice
[10:19]
JulianLevensIs your System web still in place? [10:25]
foswiki_irc9The old one ?
The old one is on my PROD server, the new one is on a DEV server
[10:27]
JulianLevensYes the old one. The two missing topics will be found in the System web, so I'm wondering if you've somehow broken the System web
Can you go to System.WebHome on your DEV server
[10:29]
foswiki_irc9with web browser or file explorer ? [10:30]
JulianLevensweb browser [10:30]
foswiki_irc9ok done [10:31]
JulianLevensAnd no problems? [10:36]
foswiki_irc9no problem
no problem on SANDBOX / SYSTEM / MAIN web...
Only on my MYWEB web which is a copy from my old one (PROD) server.
Copy done by a cp -r from data and pub to data and pub
[10:36]
JulianLevensHmm, hold on the error message is that you can't find '.WebLeftBarWebsList' the error message is not 'System.WebLeftBarWebsList' correct?
What ownership and permissions does your new MyWeb have?
and indeed the ownership of all sub-sdirectories and files in your two MyWeb directories
[10:39]
foswiki_irc9Directory is drwxr-xr-x , files are -rwxr-xr-x
In System, files are -rw-r--r--
Try to change it
Same problem...
The message "Warning: Can't find topic .WebLeftBarWebsList" appears in red, on the Left Bar of my MYWEB page
I can modify a topic in my new MYWEB, it works fine
But when I want to "Create New Topic" I have this error too : "Warning: Can't find topic .WebTopicCreator "
Its look like some topics are missing but they are not in my old MYWEB web so...
My bin/configure page had no errors
Sorry, lunch time, back in one hours...

If you have any suggestion, thx
[12:26]
JulianLevensWhat versions of Foswiki are your old and new installs?
Oh, you told me the permissions above but not the ownership
[12:29]
foswiki_irc9old is Foswiki-1.0.5 new is Foswiki-1.1.9
ownership is www-data:www-data
[12:41]

JulianLevensfoswiki_irc9: Sorry, not sure what to suggest next. It may well be that there are changes between 1.05 and 1.1.9 that will require you to create these extra topics in MyWeb. However that does not feel right
Hopefully someone else can help with more experience of issues when migrating between releases

gac410foswiki_irc9 I wonder if you have an undefined macro on the new system. Was the 1.0.5 system originally migrated from TWiki? Look around to see if there is the old %TWIKIWEB% macro in those pages instead of %SYSTEMWEB% [13:53]

gac410no, Michael
I was just suggesting that anyone is free to set it. :)

CDotsure, I know. I just didn't know what the date of the next RM was, so thought I'd leave it 2 u [14:32]
gac410well I hope I got the date right. Every other Monday for now. Damn... I forgot to post minutes from the last one.
Thankfully I still have the channel logs ... somewhere ... I hope
[14:33]
foswiki_irc9Hi, just try to install a new foswiki 1.1.9 from scratch
I set all in the bin/configure without problem
I enter a password, save it -> saving changes ok
[14:36]
gac410CDot: For next release meeting, do you think we are ready to start alpha process The blockers are all ready to close I think.
foswiki_irc9 did you install from tarball, or .deb/.rpm packages?
[14:37]
foswiki_irc9Now i want to add a new admin user, but foswiki said access denied...??? [14:38]
gac410jast, I left some translate serve messages for you in the security channel.
foswiki_irc9: did you log in with user "admin" password (whatever you set in configure save)
[14:38]
foswiki_irc9ok that was the problem
thanx

CDotgac410: fine with me. i really wanted to do one last pass over the store API, but can live without it. [14:41]
gac410well alpha builds are really just the start. Things like code reviews, etc are a good thing. [14:41]
If you find something wrong in the API it's still better to fix it now than wait for after the release and it's out in the wild. [14:47]
