|GuilainC||hi MichaelDaum, For information, I've a mis-alignement between the video and second column on the WebHome topic of foswiki.org, gac410, tell me to tell you ;), due to the use of Grid...||[07:09]|
I'll have a look
best would be to install GridLayoutPlugin instead of this adhoc css
and I haven't precise, is under iceweasel/firefox
|MichaelDaum||oh this is old yahoo contrib: yui being used for grid layouts||[07:11]|
|GuilainC||an simple float doesn't work ? could i try ? (in Sandbox)||[07:11]|
|MichaelDaum||h2 headings are wrong as well||[07:13]|
|GuilainC||GuilainC takes a look of code... argh :( !
I like this first line
<!-- This is a special page, and is *not* typical of how a Foswiki page looks! -->
|MichaelDaum||fixed the iframe for the video||[07:14]|
|MichaelDaum||yea, thats bullshit||[07:15]|
|MichaelDaum||we've got better grid css here http://foswiki.org/Development/GridCss being used for the other frontpages
I'll remove yui
not now. gotta prepare a confi call
|GuilainC||oh, GridCss seems to be good and simple !||[07:25]|
|MichaelDaum||been used on http://foswiki.org/Development, Tasks, Support, Extensions WebHomies
this is a simplified version of what is available in GridLayoutPlugin
|GuilainC||why it doesn't exist as an simple plugin ?! It should be very useful.||[07:27]|
|GuilainC||ok, happy to know, I've to admit that I've to progress on column... in order to overhead the classic <table> :)||[07:28]|
|MichaelDaum||<table>s are busted as they wont flip from horizontal to vertical in a responsive way for mobile devices||[07:28]|
|GuilainC||ah good to know... :)||[07:30]|
|MichaelDaum||Foswiki-2.0 still ships and old yui at pub/System/MainFeatures/grid-min.css ... should be removed actually
yui-grid 2.8.0r4 from 2009
and it is deprecated anyway
|.......... (idle for 49mn)|
|GuilainC||gac410 will not be happy about this...||[08:24]|
|.......... (idle for 47mn)|
|MichaelDaum||no critical bug||[09:11]|
|...... (idle for 28mn)|
|Hanumaan||how to export foswiki to another server?||[09:39]|
|GuilainC||classically, install on the new server, then copy/paste /data /pub
in the new installation directory, and should work
there is a doc on that
http://foswiki.org/System/UpgradeGuide si perhaps the best, according the new version of foswiki have been just released

|MichaelDaum||any feedback: http://foswiki.org/Sandbox/NewFrontpage||[12:18]|
|jast||first impression: I like it
a few comments: I think the green/green contrast in the big header (and logo) is a bit low
a lot of the stuff from "where to go from here" is gone, some of it may be useful to keep in some way or another
and the twitter/facebook/... images should be clickable
that's all of my quibbles :)
|gac410||yeah +1 Good on laptop, on cellphone, the floating bottom-bar overlaying the text is anoying||[12:22]|
|jast||didn't test on cellphone, but noticed that on my tall screen there is no padding to the left and right
|MichaelDaum||http://foswiki.org/pub/System/SiteGraphics/cc-by-sa-3.0-88x31.png is missing on F.O.||[12:24]|
|jomo||+1 for the boottom bar background need||[12:24]|
|gac410||Ah... SiteGraphics. I missed that. Didn't migrate SystemWeb Full reinstall
I'll copy it over from the backup
|GuilainC||very nice MichaelDaum !||[12:27]|
|jast||by the way, can design software please use perceptual gradients by default?
yes, browsers, I'm looking at you, too
|GuilainC||but, the green gradient is not very wondrefull IMHO, and the top bar should have an background color (to avoid text over text making the sensation of bad readability )||[12:28]|
|gac410||Okay SiteGraphics copied back||[12:28]|
|jast||just noticed that the hover colour of the menu items at the top clashes with the gradient background||[12:29]|
|jomo||also, the design should use primarly the "corporate identity" (read: foswiki) colors... ;) the green isn't connected to FW at all. - anyway it is NICE. :)||[12:29]|
|gac410||Topic for github?||[12:29]|
|jast||green is one of the logo colours in the new logo||[12:29]|
|gac410||MichaelDaum: We need to get the 2.0.0 announcement out.||[12:30]|
|jomo||heh - realy - din't notices. Ok then. :)||[12:30]|
|GuilainC||ok on iceweasel/firefox desktop version, the bottom bar background is transparent||[12:31]|
|gac410||MichaelDaum: "github missing" ... what is github? A gif, a topic? It's not attached to SiteGraphics on the 1.1.9 system.||[12:31]|
|jast||it's not mentioned on the front page||[12:31]|
|MichaelDaum||no. under "find us on the net" or a "fork me on gitsnob"||[12:31]|
|jast||which I guess is what that comment was about||[12:32]|
|GuilainC||on firefox/android the bottom bar is fine, but the alignment of the part "download/register" is on left||[12:32]|
|gac410||GuilainC: yeah I commented on that .. on a big browser it looks fine. on small screen the transparent bottom bar is difficult.||[12:32]|
|MichaelDaum||makes 5 social networks ... bad for a grid
don't we have one other social network we are on?
|jast||is anyone actually posting content on all those networks?||[12:33]|
|GuilainC||screenshoot available if needed MichaelDaum, and should we modify your topic or prefer we instantiate one ? (to correct what I can)||[12:33]|
|jomo||try resize the browser window - the "Benefits" list bullets are "to much" at the edge - would be nicer to have few pixels wihite space at the left side...||[12:33]|
|gac410||MichaelDaum: sorry to be thick. cp foswiki/public_html-1.1.9/<something-named-github> .... what do I need to restore.||[12:33]|
|MichaelDaum||gac410, sec and you'll see.||[12:33]|
|gac410||Oh... http://foswiki.org/pub/System/ProjectLogos/favicon.ico broken image...||[12:34]|
|jomo||like the "extensions news" bullets - theyre ok, the benefits and the project updates isnt'..||[12:35]|
|GuilainC||for social networking, time to make an linkedIn group ?
facebook, twitter, g+, rss blog, github, and... linkedin, rss extension ? rss foswiki.org/Main ?
|great, image clickable, and bottom bar,
but the image of demo site are above the bottom bar, during scrolling
(iceweasel/firefox desktop version)
download/register haven't the same mouseover behavior, is what expected ?
|milan_||MichaelDaum: Getting the following error with 2.0.0.

|GuilainC||GuilainC discovers a new linux today... ;)
milan_ try to install this package perl-Crypt-PasswdMD5
or check if is installed
|gac410||There is a list of all the RPMs you need on Foswiki:System.SystemRequirements||[12:50]|
|FoswikiBot||http://foswiki.org/System.SystemRequirements [ SystemRequirements ]||[12:50]|
|milan_||Scientific Linux release 6.6 (Carbon) is the actual name. sorry for the typo
|GuilainC||milan_ tell us if after install this package something continue to goes wrong||[12:51]|
|GuilainC||mouseover on "blog" on the top bar is missing
|milan_||gac410: Yes it was Crypt::PasswdMD5. Few more are missing it seems.Looking at it.||[12:55]|
|GuilainC||mouseover "fork me on github" making this string to disappear||[12:55]|
|GuilainC||and there are (at least on my desktop) screen print error on the mouseover of the logo at the top and at the bottom, mouseover of the g+ logo||[12:56]|
|jomo||comments: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/90556436/WhiteSpace.mp4 :)||[12:57]|
|gac410||I get a bunch of crome extension errors about embed player||[12:58]|
|GuilainC||mouseover trouble on g+ and github, disappears, blog link at the top too... on my android device (firefox) the alignement of download and register is on the left and not centered
and there is a lack of a space before the blog link (at the top), to be consistent with others link
still something wrong with the mouseover on the logo
|gac410||milan_: regarding perl. 5.10.1 is 6 years old - you might have encounter issues especially if using international characters, or direct Net::SMTP email, or IPv6.
We definitely recommend a more modern perl if practical.
|MichaelDaum||GuilainC, fixed on NewFrontpage||[13:13]|
|GuilainC||two last things:
showcase image is above the bottom bar
and there is a lack of space (spacing) before the link to the blog on the top bar
|gac410||Any chance for a bit more overall contrast.
/me doesn't understand the need for "pastel" colors. very difficult to read for aging eyes.
|GuilainC||on mouseover, the blue shape is too much closed to the string "Blog"
gac410, is because foswiki is for young people only :) :) :) :) ;)
gac410, do you point out the greee gradient ? or all gree text ?
GuilainC think, that one time, i will be happy to understand, in a marketing point of view, the difference, between, "programmable wiki", "collaborative plateforme", "framework" ; and which expression is more searched in google... (remember, I'm not a developper)
|milan_||gac410: Will check with the admin if an upgrade is possible for me||[13:19]|
|GuilainC||perhaps that the text under download and register would be clickable
blog is fine ;)
blog string in the top of the page ;)
|gac410||gac410 has to go find his color picker and submit the colors to the web accessibility site.
I did that for the default pattern skin colors and got us into a reasonable category a few months ago.
|GuilainC||just a suggestion, I've no point of view on that, but after this front page, people get an "pattern" skin modernized by the foswiki style, which is basically an gray menu... perhaps the best is to keep this top style : logo on top left, blank on right (perhaps search ?!) then, the green gradient only on the "The FREE... plateform" slogan and the download/register button
the idea is to be more consistent between topic, from the front page...
not sure to be clear :) if not please ask !
but it's just so better ! I'm loving it !
|foswiki_irc5||I just learned about Foswiki. Is there a demo/playground instance available to kick the tires with so that I do not have to go through an installation in order to assess certain features?||[13:39]|
|TitanOfOld||foswiki_irc5, yes, the sandbox on foswiki.org.
foswiki_irc5, because the site is the demo.
|gac410||MichaelDaum: our Broadcast message is missing. Sometimes it's pretty important. ... Clear your cache or the site won't be operational for ex. (I forgot to update the mod_expired times :( )||[13:42]|
|foswiki_irc5||hmm... I did not see any reference to "sandbox" on the main page, and I just performed a search now with "sandbox" and no results returned. I did not want to contaminate your site with my test page||[13:42]|
|MichaelDaum||ERROR: during upload of perl_logo.png --- utf8 "\x89" does not map to Unicode
|gac410||MichaelDaum: yeah I ran into that uploading an extension. I meant to ask CDot .... I could not find those characters. Upload on trunk worked fine.
foswiki_irc5: when you register on the site, your user page will have a link to a sandbox page just for you.
MichaelDaum: I don't understand why upload works on trunk and fails on f.o ... running same code, except for fastcgi.
|foswiki_irc5||ah... thank you, I'll try that then||[13:44]|
|MichaelDaum||gac410, was hiding the broadcast message to get a free view on the alps||[13:46]|
I had forgotten about it, but was reviewing with the google accessibility developer tools and it pointed out the hidden element.
|MichaelDaum||there it is again :/||[13:48]|
|gac410||MichaelDaum: There is a "cgi" path to avoid fcgi. /cgi/view/Main/WebHome for ex. You might try the upload without fastcgi||[13:48]|
|MichaelDaum||solved it otherwise||[13:48]|
|gac410||We need to understand if we have a issue in the build or if it's data related somehow.||[13:49]|
|foswiki_irc5||I registered (JohnPoole), just a heads up it took 1-2 minutes for the registration w/code page to return results.||[13:50]|
|gac410||I think we might be running into a delay in the email backend.
MichaelDaum: "Where to go from here" section ... Add a "register for an account, and play in the Sandbox? "
|MichaelDaum||yea some stuff missing from the current front||[13:52]|
|gac410||Only thought of it because of foswiki_irc5's question ;)||[13:53]|
|foswiki_irc5||Did that, was asked to log in, I attempted to do so and could not authenticate. When I tried to do a password reset I got: The entry for user xxxx.com was missing in the password system.
looks like there may be a latency issue somewhere?
|gac410||hm let me look in the logs and files. I did test registration during our upgrade this weekend ... :(||[13:54]|
|foswiki_irc5||Also know that Google Mail relegate the first email confirmation code to the Spam folder.
Google included on the 2nd email "Why is this message in Spam? It is in violation of Google's recommended email sender guidelines. Learn more" with a link to https://support.google.com/mail/answer/81126?hl=en#authentication
|gac410||Okay, your ID and password are present, everything "looks right" but I see the AUTHENTICATION_FAILURE messages. strange.
gac410 trying to register a test ID.
|foswiki_irc5||just tried to logon, again, in last 5 seconds, and authentication failed.||[14:00]|
|MichaelDaum||wow lots of people on http://foswiki.org/Main/MaintainGroup not seen here for years
|JohnPoole||Another heads up: I was opening the IRC instructions to another tab (Firefox) and it appears to have affected this tab with the ongoing chat window, it was like I was starting all over again in the IRC channel.||[14:04]|
|MichaelDaum||... AndreUlrich, AndrewJones, ArthurClemens, CarloSchulz, EugenMayer, MartinSeibert, MichaelCorbett, SvenDowideit, WillNorris||[14:05]|
|gac410||JohnPoole: Thanks for the report. Something is broken in registration.||[14:05]|
|JohnPoole||I did receive the 2nd email welcoming me with the " Please save this e-mail for future reference." Sounds like something is broken in the authentication mechanism.
and I was on my own page... problems arose when I tried to access my own Sandbox.
and my page was created: http://foswiki.org/Main/JohnPoole
|gac410||JohnPoole: You should be able to login now. It's a bug in FastCGI and password handling. we are not detecting that the password file was updated.
After I restarted apache, my ID worked.
|MichaelDaum||MichaelDaum done with http://foswiki.org/Sandbox/NewFrontpage||[14:11]|
|JohnPoole||just tried now (after your Apache restart) and long pause with "Oops: we could not recognize you. Try again or reset your password."
Good: I like the "arrow_right Register for an account, and play in the Sandbox. " at the bottom.
|gac410||hm. I've turned off password caching. Just tried a reset password on my test account ... waiting for results||[14:13]|
|JohnPoole||tried couple of times to logon, failed. However, I am now able to reset my password. Going to check my spam folder...||[14:15]|
|gac410||Okay. Foswiki:System.ResetPassword worked, and new password was immediately usable.||[14:16]|
|FoswikiBot||http://foswiki.org/System.ResetPassword [ ResetPassword ]||[14:16]|
|gac410||I'm not sure why the huge delay on registration confirm. I did encounter that.||[14:17]|
|JohnPoole||no email as yet, the last two emails came within 1 minutes of my interaction with a page on your site.||[14:18]|
|gac410||Okay so first significant issue on 2.0.0 ... Global password cache seems to be incompatible with fcgi ... which is it's whole reason to exist. :(||[14:19]|
|JohnPoole||still no email (perhaps by not meeting Google's standards, it is being processed in a lower priority process before being directed to my spam folder?)||[14:20]|
|gac410||no idea. Unfortunately I don't have access to our dns configuration
hm Re: google guidelines... Our reverse DNS is correct.
We only have a single IP, so that should remain consistent :)
I think all our email comes from email@example.com
|TitanOfOld||gac410, yeah, there was a note about it not meeting certain standards.
gac410, but I forget what it said precisely.
|gac410||Might be no DKIM or SPF. SPF is easy to fix if I had access to DNS, ... Which I don't :(||[14:25]|
|JohnPoole||there is mention of using the same return address consistently, if you recently changed it that might be triggering it. e.g. firstname.lastname@example.org =>email@example.com
I need to break away. I'll come back to this later today.
thank you for your help
|gac410||Every email template is consistent, on 1.1.9 and 2.0.0: From: %WIKIWEBMASTERNAME% <%WIKIWEBMASTER%>.
/me has no idea where firstname.lastname@example.org would have come from.
|Okay. Password caching bug fixed. :P Need to enable "Check modification timestamp" if you enable the cache, with fcgi. Since each fcgi process is a separate task.
Configuration bug, and could use a "checker" to try to help user get it right.
But registration confirmation takes a minute or so. Verrrryyy slow. :(
|Hanumaan||unable to download 2.0.0 foswiki is there any problem in the server?||[14:56]|
|gac410||Hanumaan: Download comes from sourceforge.net,||[14:57]|
|jomo||for me the http://sourceforge.net/projects/foswiki/files/foswiki/2.0.0/Foswiki-2.0.0.tgz works ok||[14:57]|
|gac410||Hmm, I wonder. WikiUsers topic on f.o has 1921 revisions dating back to 2012. And we are using RcsLite. Just grabbing history of first 50 revisions takes 30 seconds.
That might explain the high cpu and slow user registration.
|jomo||F.O. still uses RCS? ... and what about the new PlainFile? :) :) hard to convert?||[15:12]|
|gac410||one change at a time||[15:12]|
|jomo||ok, that make sense... ;)||[15:12]|
|gac410||plus, as it's our ultimate test, best to give rcs a good workout as well.
gac410 is going to switch to RcsWrap ... see if that helps at all
Well that brought down "history" of 50 revs on WikiUsers from 30+ sec to 3.
|And made no difference on Registration. Still 1:30 to confirm.||[15:26]|
|...... (idle for 25mn)|
|JasonHawkins||I have a question I have neglected fixing for a while: No pages loads for my foswiki site after clicking the registration or password change buttons. It loads a blank page. I compared it with the foswiki website functionality for registration using the console to see what is loaded, etc, but cannot see a difference.||[15:51]|
|gac410||JasonHawkins: Doesn't sound familiar. Which version of Foswiki?||[15:54]|
|gac410||And pattern skin? NatSkin? ?
Is it a public site where we could take a look?
|JasonHawkins||The main web uses quickmenu and the others use widgetskin
|gac410||I'd be more inclined to suspect a skin or template issue. But thb I've never used either of those. so I have no idea about widgetskin The developer seems to have drifted away.
Hm Looks like bin/login is trying to load bin/view/Main/DefaultUserRegistration which does not exist on your site.
That's probably the issue.
(or at least one of them )
|JasonHawkins||That seems to be the issue. Thanks.||[16:01]|
|MichaelDaum||gac410, slap NewFrontpage over to Home.WebHome?||[16:01]|
I'll upload a better-res logo for it
|gac410||No chance of sharper contrasts? :D||[16:02]|
|MichaelDaum||the current logo is scaled up from a lower res to this size. thats why it is kind of pixellated atm
hopefully a higher res will give better contrast as well
|gac410||Oh.. re 2.0 announcement. Is the RC2 announcement okay to resend, or do you think other verbiage for it?
The only other big effort left is to release all the extensions. I need cdot to help figure out that utf8 error on updload.
|MichaelDaum||we could have some fun image again ... just to draw more attention on social networks||[16:04]|
|gac410||Independence from ASCII ?||[16:04]|
|can't upload to http://trunk.foswiki.org/bin/attach/Home/WebHome access denied||[16:15]|
|gac410||trunk doesn't have our access groups, need to use the admin userid
Main/ on trunk is pretty vanilla github checkout.
|MichaelDaum||this is looking sharper now: http://foswiki.org/Home/WebHome
|gac410||The button bar .. white on green & more importantly white on light blue when hovering is pretty tough to read||[16:18]|
|MichaelDaum||how about this||[16:26]|
|gac410||MUCH better! Thanks
And nice effect on the broadcast message
On Where to go from here.... Maybe the register/sandbox line could be there rather than under Community.
community is actually the better category for "register for an account" ... as that makes you a member of the gang
|gac410||oh...okay. I didn't think of that connection. I saw it more as a destination||[16:32]|
|MichaelDaum||anyway it is a wiki: feel free to improve :)
can somebody check IE?

|MichaelDaum||is there safewiki installed?||[18:24]|
|gac410||I didn't install SafeWiki
AntiWikiSpamPlugin is installed, but Admin users get a bypass
|MichaelDaum||can't upload a js file
utf8 "\xFF" does not map to Unicode ... maybe upload tries to utf8 decode the binary being uploaded?
|gac410||needs Crawford. I have no idea
I ran into that issue trying use buildContrib to upload MultiTopicChangePlugin, repeated it on trunk and it worked.
MichaelDaum: I made a change... AntiWikiSpamPlugin was set to check attachments.
|gac410||I disabled that. I thought it was supposed to default to disabled, and it was a hidden (expert) setting
lemme reload fcgi
okay reload done
firefox doesnt react at all clicking on "upload"
the utf8 error is gone on images
uploading a js doesnt work still
|gac410||no idea. Not familiar with that. no errors in the apache error log. but some of those mods log elsewhere.
the only match for .js in the server config is to add the gzip encoding
And that was there before.
|MichaelDaum||I can't upload properly||[18:38]|
There is nothing special about my account. I'm in the admin group just like you.
Did you clear your browser cache? I neglected to set the cache time low two weeks ago, so everyone is using local cache for files.

|MichaelDaum||not enuf local accsess rights to the file I wnated to upload :(||[18:46]|

The last posting on Foswiki-announce stems from the 1st of July announcing RC2. That's a bit... incoherent.||[23:09]|
|gac410||Ugh. The release notes is your idiot RM missing a text change.
I don't have access to the twitter account, I was planning on coordinating announcements with MichaelDaum

|gac410||Ahh another crap. Time to shoot the RM
The reason the release notes on Foswiki.org are old. It's actually running RC3, ... it was upgraded friday night as a sanity check before the real build.
or maybe, don't shoot the RM, shoot the server admin
