gac410GuilainC_away: (for the logs). I've updated the FoswikiReleaseTemplate ... VM image download now appears with the list of other downloads, no extra topic navigation required.
"VMimage" checkbox in the FoswikiReleaseForm. When checked, the links are automatically generated.

FlashDelhi folks, i still got an error, which doesnt let my configure foswiki and i dont know what to do anymore... Maybe its a Bug? I am trying to setup foswiki 2.0 on a debian jessie with nginx and fcgi with HTTP, but it fails and i dont know how to debug anymore.I am getting this errors in the nginx error log: http://pastebin.com/XAtbknum and this is a screenshot of the error i am getting in the browser: http://www.directupload.net/file/d/4044/ [12:30]
FoswikiBot[ - directupload.net ] [12:30]
FlashDelnw49iomf_png.htm Any help would be appreciated :-)
here is the complete link in one line, sorry: http://www.directupload.net/file/d/4044/nw49iomf_png.htm
[12:30]
GuilainCno relevant idea FlashDel... but have you well install the require dependencies located in the requirement topic ? [12:33]
FlashDelyes, i installed all of them :-(
do you know what this geetspec should be?
[12:33]
GuilainCI'm sorry any idea :(
perhaps other, specially those who use nginx
[12:38]
FlashDelsooo who is volunteering :-D in the best case with a working nginx config^^ [12:40]
jomojomo using nginx but only as reverse proxy... the real FW is running under lighttpd localhost:8000
so, the relevant lines from my nginx are:
location /pub/ {
root /home/jomo/web/fw/core/;
}
location /bin/ {
proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr;
proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for;
proxy_pass http://localhost:8080/bin/;
}
[12:44]
FlashDelso you are just passing anything through, i guess my problem is the fcgi :-( [12:49]
jomothe easiest way to try foswiki 2.0 it is: 1.) install lighttpd 2.) run: tools/lighttpd -f 3.) done :)
of course, for the "production" is better tweak the lighttpd.conf a bit... but for "testing" or such - the lighttpd is THE hasslefree method...
just imho...
:)
[12:51]
FlashDeli want to use it for production and we are using nginx for everything inhouse and we dont want to use another webserver instance which we have to care for, so i have to get it running under nginx ;-) [12:54]
jomoof course, but you cane easier figure out what is wrong, if you have an "working" foswiki (what runs on some high port)... [12:55]
FlashDelyou`re right. I can check if it runs with lighthttpd [12:55]
GuilainCFlashDel, could you give the topic you have follow for configuring nginx with foswiki
and good to test : with lighttpd, and/or plaincgi + nginx
and then, if everything works, go to nginx + fcgi
step by step :)
[12:55]
gac410It does work fine with nginx ... Can't use plain cgi - nginx needs fcgi [12:56]
jomo+1 [12:56]
GuilainCah...
;)
[12:57]
gac410With nginx and fcgi, you also need to ensure that the perl modules FCGI and FCGI::ProcManager are installed.
If you are having trouble with bootstrap, you can manually do the initial configuration
[12:57]
jomogac410: the FCGI::ProcManager isn't listed in the "needed perl modules"...
iirc
[12:58]
gac410yeah, it's "optional" but fcgi needs it especially under nginx, or it can't start the backend.
You can still start it manually, but just more difficult
Regarding manual configuration. cd /path/to/foswiki/install
then tools/configure -save and answer the questions
[12:58]
FlashDelgac410: i installed libfcgi-procmanager-perl and libfcgi-perl and the bootstrapping wont work [12:59]
gac410I'd suggest trying manual configuration rather than bootstrap. Bootstrap has to make lots of assumptions and guesses to try to figure out your environment [13:01]
jomoFlashDel: as gac410 told you, you can configure "by hand" with tools/configure (not bin/configure!) [13:01]
FlashDelok i will check it out manually [13:01]
gac410the error "unknown handler for getspec" though ... I'm not quite sure what can cause that. MichaelDaum uses fcgi / nginx a lot, but does not appear to be around today :( [13:02]
FlashDelso now i configured it by hand and i got the info: New configuration saved in /var/www/foswiki/lib/LocalSite.cfg but if i go on the wiki site there is a WARNING LocalSite.cfg could not be found error :-/ [13:05]
gac410Those bootstrap messages you sent in pastebin look completely normal ... at a quick glance.
Did you restart fcgi?
"service foswiki restart
[13:05]
FlashDelno,i didnt know that this is required, but it helped :) thanks a lot! [13:06]
gac410procmanager *should* figure out it needs to restart stuff, but we've found it rather inconsitent at times [13:07]
FlashDelgac410: are you using suffix for your cgi scripts? [13:14]
.......... (idle for 45mn)
gac410FlashDel: hm well, with fcgi, the only script actually used is foswik.fcgi. All the others - view. edit, configure, ... are ignored.
I'm not sure if they can be removed or not, but they are not "executed". They might figure into validations,
[13:59]
....... (idle for 33mn)
LynnwoodMorning all - I'm trying to figure out how I might retrieve a form field value for a target topic (not the BASETOPIC) with javascript. I'm thinking of something like rendering %QUERY{ using rest call. Not sure how to assign the returned value to a variable. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
It makes me think that an ajax-variation on QUERY macro would be nice addition to JQueryPlugin...
[14:33]
GuilainCno idea for retrieving query output to javascript variable... don't use javascript
but what do you mean by an ajax-variation of QUERY macro
[14:37]
Lynnwoodwell... being able to query a form field value via ajax call. [14:38]
gac410Hm Maybe a topic that contains the QUERY with URLPARAMS [14:39]
Lynnwoodso, being able to do equivalent to QUERY macro within a javascript function. [14:39]
gac410Like the System.JQueryJavaScriptHelper ... [14:39]
GuilainCGuilainC is unsure about his ajax definition :D check google [14:39]
Lynnwoody.
gac410 - i _think_ it may be even easier than that if i can figure out to assign the output of RenderPlugin to a js variable.
...using the "tag" handler in RenderPlugin.
[14:39]
GuilainCok, you seems to want to manipulate output at the low level of javascript, i.e inside javascript function
I'm using ajax only for load content asynchronously, for that jqloader do a very nice job
[14:41]
Lynnwoodyea. I've got a form that classifies content with a category field. If the category field changes, I need to reach out and grab some additional information from the referenced category topic. [14:43]
GuilainCinteresting :) don't forget to share code :D [14:45]
.... (idle for 18mn)
FlashDelGuilainC: i need your help again :-S now the configuration did work, but if i click on anything on the home site, e.g. on create new topic, nothing happens, i am just staying on the home site. If i click on Edit, i get the error: There was a problem retrieving http://mydomain/bin/rest/WysiwygPlugin/tml2html: GENERAL 400 [15:03]
GuilainCmy help ?! wrong person !
hum... absolutely no idea...
still from the tarball
nginx & fcgi ?
[15:04]
FlashDeljep :)
i guess that this time REST is the problem
[15:04]
GuilainCreturn 400 is bad ;)
it's meaning "i don't know why,who,where,when but I can't sorry !"
[15:05]
FlashDelyes :( and i get errors like: Invalid REST invocation - / is malformed [15:05]
GuilainCin error log ? [15:06]
LynnwoodFlashDel - check in configure if rest is an allowed script for non-authorized users.
can't remember the setting name... just a sec.
[15:06]
FlashDelok [15:10]
Lynnwoodit's {AuthScripts}
it list those scripts that can only be invoked if user is authenticated.
[15:11]
gac410for a new configuration AuthScripts should be defaulted correctly - rest should not be included [15:11]
Lynnwoody, i thought so with 1.2. It didn't use to be. But the symptom he described sounded like that.
Lynnwood can't wait to get some free time to take 1.2 for a spin
[15:13]
gac410FlashDel: Can you pastebin your LocalSite.cfg [15:14]
FlashDelof course, one sec [15:14]
gac410(delete the admin password line, and any email server passwords or the like. Don't want to reveal too much [15:14]
FlashDelhttp://pastebin.com/xwrvqhB1
here we go :)
[15:17]
GuilainCbe careful Lynnwood 1.2 doesn't exist, 1.2 is now 2.0 :D [15:19]
Lynnwoodoh yea...
silly me. i knew that.
[15:20]
FlashDelgac410: but i am wondering why it doesnt work out of the box, i thought that the config-tool does the work for me? I cant even go to any page under home :-( [15:22]
gac410Not sure. I did test bootstrap on fcgi, something went wrong unfortunately. [15:23]
FlashDelmaybe we figure it out :) [15:25]
gac410so far everything looks okay in LocalSite.cfg. :(
Do basic topics link work?
And it's just edit etc that are broken?
[15:25]
FlashDelno link is working and no error is thrown, except for edit, there i get the wysiwyg editor and the error There was a problem retrieving http://wiki.my-domain.de//bin/rest/WysiwygPlugin/tml2html: GENERAL 400
funny thing: the wysiwyg editor is working so far
[15:27]
gac410So what happens if you go to http://yourdomain.de/Main/WebHome in your url bar [15:28]
FlashDelthen i see the starting page [15:28]
gac410So that page looks correct. No bootstrap banner, etc. [15:29]
FlashDelyes [15:29]
gac410How about http://yourdomain.de/System/PerlDependencyReport [15:29]
FlashDelif i lets say edit the start page and click on save, a banner appears with ERROR: (400) Invalid REST invocation - / is malformed
if i go on http://yourdomain.de/System/PerlDependencyReport i get to the start page
[15:29]
gac410wow that's really strange. [15:33]
jomoin such case - imho, wrong nginx config [15:33]
FlashDeli can pastebin my nginx config as well, if you like [15:34]
jomoFlashDel: when you said "then i see the starting page" - what page do you really seen? [15:34]
gac410Does it look like http://foswiki.org/Main/WebHome [15:35]
jomoor did you see the index.html from the install dir... [15:36]
FlashDeli see this page: http://www.directupload.net/file/d/4044/3pwiz5no_png.htm [15:38]
jomogood - it is the Main web
and if you click the "System" in the sidebar it works?
[15:39]
FlashDelno, i stay on the main page [15:42]
gac410That seems to be related to how foswik.fcgi is parsing the url. [15:44]
FlashDelis there a solution for it? [15:46]
gac410right now no idea, could you pastebin your nginx config? [15:48]
FlashDelsure [15:49]
jomogac410: the foswiki.fcgi works ok with the "lighttpd -f" - so, probably no problem with it... [15:49]
gac410gac410 is booting my nginx vm [15:50]
FlashDeli was testing around with the config, this is my current one: http://pastebin.com/9yTHcLq6 [15:51]
gac410FlashDel: Here is the nginx config that I have working here.
http://pastebin.com/ShwbyvdA
[16:00]
FlashDeli will test it [16:01]
mhh i get an bad gateway [16:08]
gac410ah. probably related to: fastcgi_pass             127.0.0.1:9001;
Needs to match the startup parameters for the service foswiki
[16:09]
FlashDeli changed that, but i get the error in error.log: upstream prematurely closed FastCGI stdout while reading response header from upstream
i guess i have to set SCRIPT_FILENAME
[16:10]
gac410: it wont work :-( [16:18]
gac410Hm Sorry FlashDel unfortunately I've got very minimal knowledge with nginx / fcgi. I've managed to get it working, but debugging a broken setup, I just don't have much experience. [16:19]
FlashDelno problem :-) but i dont understand why its working for you and not for me :-S [16:20]
gac410in my init.d/foswiki script I have set:
FOSWIKI_FCGI=foswiki.fcgi
FOSWIKI_BIND=127.0.0.1:9000

(and a bunch more but those are probably the most significant
[16:21]
FlashDeljust like me [16:23]
gac410Ah... wtf. So FOSWIKI_BIND needs to match the fastcgi_pass so why is mine working :? [16:23]
FlashDelright, you set port 9000 in the init script and 9001 in the nginx config
so whats running on your port 9001, i want that too :-D
[16:24]
gac410Ah... because /etc/default/foswiki overrides.
FOSWIKI_ROOT=/home/gac/foswiki/distro/core
FOSWIKI_FCGI=foswiki.fcgi
FOSWIKI_BIND=127.0.0.1:9001
...
[16:26]
FlashDelmhhh
its the same with me... you are really using foswiki 2.0?
[16:28]
gac410Ah.. Foswiki release Foswiki-1.2.0_Beta_1, This vm is a little out of date.
gac410 updates
[16:29]
FlashDelahhhh ok
damn i will have to leave know :(
i wiill be testing again on monday
gac410: thanks for your great help! I will be in touch on monday :)
[16:30]
gac410yw. BTW... I updated to latest 2.0.0, removed LocalSite.cfg, issues service foswiki start, ran bootstrap, saved, stopped and restarted backend, and all is running fine
So I have no idea what's going wrong for you :(
[16:38]
Ah,... When you configured, did you set SafeEnvPath. The gui gave me a warning on that one. For you to set with CLI
tools/configure -save -set {SafeEnvPath}="/bin:/usr/bin"
