foswiki_irc4Hello, I would like to know if there is any step-by-step documentation on installing FOSWiki on a pure Server 2012R2 environment. My searches have not come up with anything. [14:45]
LynnwoodI assume you've looked at the topics on this page: http://foswiki.org/Support/InstallingOnSpecificPlatforms
I haven't installed Foswiki on a windows server myself but i've heard reports that it words fine.
[14:51]
foswiki_irc4Yes, I've looked at those documents - They aren't the most useful. I was hoping for a 3rd party tutorial [14:59]

jeenuThe organization I work for recently upgraded to 1.19 from 1.13. With the upgrade, I find that links to local anchors is causing a page refresh, rather than a direct jump. I asked them about it, but was told off that it still jumps to the correct target, so they aren't bothered to investigate
Could someone give me some pointers, perhaps something that I can ask them to look at?
When I mean page reload, the link address is displayed when I hover over them is like: http://wiki/bin/view/blahbhah#target, rather than http://wiki/blahblah#target

Lynnwoodjeenu: if you come back around... I have some comments regarding your anchor links.
Are you referring to manually inserted links to anchors or those provided by TOC macro?
Links to achors that follow this format [[#SomeAnchor][link to anchor]] should work correctly. However, a link that uses [[%SCRIPTURL{view}%/Web/Topic#SomeAnchor][link to anchor]] would not.
Actually, i should back up to point out that the root of the issue is that your new installation probably has shortened urls configured (i.e. removes "bin/view/" from the url. However, the default for links is to include the =bin/view=.
There _may_ be a way to configure the installation where the urls and default link formats are consistent. I can't remember off hand for sure about that...
As for the links in TOC macro, I believe they only using the anchor format so they should not present a problem.
[16:10]
jeenuLynnwood: Just saw your message. I'm talking about links inserted via. [[#SomeAnchor][link to anchor]] syntax [16:18]
Lynnwoodright... [16:18]
jeenuLynnwood: also, the %TOC% links are also expanded to have /bin/view in them [16:19]
Lynnwoodah... really?
that surprises me.
[16:19]
jeenuLynnwood: yup
Since I don't know what the configuration looks like at the server side, I can't advice the IT team on this. Especially when they says "it works". Doh
[16:19]
LynnwoodWhen i wrote that, I was looking at Support.SupplementalDocuments - just because I had it open and it included TOC macro - and it's anchor links to not include the script or web/topic referemce.
Right... i don't have a quick answer on the configuration because there are several different strategies for implementing shortened urls.
[16:20]

Lynnwoodand it usually involves a combination of server configuration and settings in Foswiki's configure interface. [16:22]
jeenuHm OK [16:22]
***foswiki_irc5 has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 246 seconds) [16:22]
jeenuAs a user it annoys me to have the page refreshed just to jump to a local anchor, or from TOC [16:22]
Lynnwoodagreed. i have seen that in the past. [16:23]
jeenu(and annoys me even more when people say "it works") :-/ [16:23]
Lynnwoodin the case where you have manually composed links that include the script, web and topic reference, you might take a look at GlobalReplacePlugin.
it's a little tricky but i've used it to completely transform link formatting across a web.
it can search out all the links in the form [[%SCRIPTURL{view}%/Web/Topic#SomeAnchor][link to anchor]] and replace them with [[#SomeAnchor][link to anchor]].
[16:24]
jeenuIs that something configured at the server so that it handles all pages, or I insert into a page that I edit? [16:26]
LynnwoodRegarding the TOC links, i'm pretty certain that your IT could fix that fairly easily with some tweaks to their foswiki configure settings.
Neither. GlobalReplacePlugin is a utility that allows you to do complex search-and-replace over a web.
So it basically allows you to bulk-edit all those links in one swoop.
[16:27]
jeenuRight, but that applies when I've instances of [[%SCRIPTURL{view}%/Web/Topic#SomeAnchor][link to anchor]] purposely inserted, yes? [16:29]
Lynnwoodthat's correct
it would fix those.
although... and i'm not 100% about this... a fix to the foswiki configuration might fix these links (make them work) without actually changing them...
[16:29]
jeenuYup, that's what I thought. I was hoping if someone could point me to what that's, so that I can relay that information to the admins [16:31]
LynnwoodIn particular, have your IT look in foswiki configuration at {ScriptUrlPaths}{view} setting. [16:33]
jeenuHm OK, I'll pass that information [16:33]
LynnwoodI believe that this would allow them to remove the /bin/view from regular links.
e.g. Foswiki would then render a link that is currently like http://wiki/bin/view/blahbhah#target to http://wiki/blahbhah#target
Good luck!
[16:33]
jeenuThat sounds promising. I've left a message for them to that effect. Let's see if that'd help
Lynnwood: thanks for the help so far
[16:35]
gac410jeenu: +1 for {ScriptUrlPaths}{view} ... This is a very common config issue.
When you said "wiki/bin/view" above .... do you mean the URL looks like http://yoursite.com/wiki/bin/view/Someweb/Sometopic and you want it to be yoursite.com/wiki/Someweb/Sometopic?
or are you using "wiki" as your hostname.
If wiki is the hostname, then {ScriptUrlPaths}{view} should be empty - If wiki is a prefix, hostname/wiki, then it should be /wiki
[16:49]
foswiki_irc9gac410: "wiki" was what used as our intranet. From what you say, I suppose {ScriptUrlPaths}{view} should be configured as empty [17:05]

vrurgIf I want to write a test suite for checking before/afterEditHandler – is Selenium the only way to do it properly? [20:40]
