RiskRewardI just met an interesting guy who writes his business proposals in markdown, uses git to collaborate on them with his business partner, then generates the final proposal using a custom style sheet. Cool! [02:50]

marcdeopI am trying to migrate from mediawiki to foswiki 2.0.2 and I am struggling with importing the images
I am using a full xml dump
however, when I import it into Foswiki, I just get pages with the file names instead of the actual files imported into the wiki
is this a known issue? does it exist a workaround?

HanumaanI'm trying to install foswiki in centos .. which runtime engine is better among(CGI/FastCGI/mod_perl) ? there is already apache server for some other serivices .. how could I check which is already getting used? [10:58]
jastcan't answer all of that, but generally I recommend fastcgi [11:00]
Hanumaanjast, and is it mod_fcgid or mod_fastcgi ? [11:01]
......... (idle for 42mn)
jastin the office we use mod_fcgid, I can't tell you which is better
suffice to say it works

jasthi guys, I've found an issue on WikiGroups. if you add a username containing an underscore, e.g. foo_bar, to a group, it's saved as foo_bar in the group topic's metadata, which of course breaks things
this happens because in UI/Register->addUserToGroup, each new entry is pulled through the usermapping function validateRegistrationField
[14:49]
gac410Ah... and now it encodes entities. [14:51]
jastthis used to escape more problematic characters only, but ever since a commit on 28 Sep it was rewritten to use Foswiki::entityEncode which encodes '_', too
what I'm wondering now is: do we actually need the call to validateRegistrationField in this place?
[14:51]
gac410hm why do we encode _, that's not a reserved character is it? [14:51]
jastI couldn't say
oh. TML special character.
maybe a slight indication the function is used by too many different things...
[14:52]
gac410hm maybe I'm not awake yet, but _ is TML special? For what? [14:54]
jastitalics IIRC [14:54]
gac410Ah... yes.
Open a task if you could. Sounds like we should do less encoding for username field.
[14:54]
jastare we going to target this for 2.0.3? [15:02]
gac410Sounds like we should, yes.
Seems like an urgent issue.
[15:03]
jastokay, will mark as one [15:03]

gac410Okay. Posted a patch. I have not tested it yet. [15:17]
jastlooks good. we have a candidate install for testing here, will probably test it there tomorrow [15:24]
gac410okay thanks. I'm still running unit tests. I'll try to add one to test illegal characters in username to exercise that code. If I can find a place that doesn't mean writing a whole new test. [15:25]

LynnwoodTaking a look at this task: http://foswiki.org/Tasks/Item2212 regarding System.QuerySearchPatternCookbook
This documentation topic has disappeared afaict and yet the docs still reference it. (In particular, at the bottom of QuerySearch.)
I wonder why the task was classified as "No action required"
Seems like we at least need to fix or remove the link in the docs.
It did server a purpose because QuerySearch really requires some examples to make clear it's various uses...
[23:20]
..... (idle for 20mn)
In System.VarQUERY, it states that this macro "gives access to all meta-data, including that added by extensions". Can anyone point me to example of how to use this for getting meta-data created by an extension such as MetaDataPlugin?
All of the examples in the VarQUERY and QuerySearch use references that are lower-case versions of the actual meta data.
For example "attachments" for META:FILEATTACHMENT.
[23:42]
ok... i figured it out
would be nice to add to QuerySearchPatternCookbook, if we had it.
Here's example: %QUERY{"'%BASEWEB%.%BASETOPIC%'/META:RESOURCESTATUSOBJECT[name='id2'].FieldName"}%
[23:52]
gac410Looks like it never existed. At least git log doesn't find it. [23:54]
Lynnwoodor %QUERY{"'%BASEWEB%.%BASETOPIC%'/META:METADATANAME[name='id2'].FieldName"}%
it did use to exist cause i remember referring to it from time to time.
doesn't seem like it was that long ago. i'm wondering if it disappeared when we updated site to 2.x.x
[23:54]
gac410hm Well I've got ever release here unziped, from 1.0.9 thru 2.0.2 and locate doesn't find QuerySearchPatternCookbook.txt [23:56]
Lynnwoodit definitely was not part of the distributed docs. [23:57]
gac410Oh... hm Lemme try to find it in the file system on f.o. [23:57]
Lynnwoodit was only on Foswiki. one of the supplemental docs that lived in System web (unwisely)
this task implies it existed at the time of this discussion: http://foswiki.org/Tasks/Item8628
...which was a while ago...
[23:57]
gac410yes it is there in some of the backup copies.
I'll restore it.
