LorandGhello I have a question, we are using sso and I would like to send change notifications to the users. The test email was sent without error but the normal notifications are not sent or delivered. Where can I check where the problem is?
If I use a userinfo on the user it gives me for $emails the email adress of the user so that is set normaly but for example if I want to include the department with $department, that one just stays "$department" on the site.

gac410Hi MichaelDaum ... When do you want to collaborate on a 2.1.2 announcement. I got the VM rebuilt and uploaded yesterday. [13:03]
MichaelDaumhang on
debugging a bad error
[13:09]
gac410okay. no prob. Just say it's not in 2.1.2 :D [13:09]
MichaelDaumomg [13:21]
..... (idle for 20mn)
foswiki_irc6hi gac410 :) Could i ask, plan you add the log to the Development/ReleaseMeeting02X02_20160502? My net connection was badly broken in monday. (jomo here). [13:41]
gac410Whoops. yeah. I was supposed to do that wasn't I [13:41]
foswiki_irc6:) cool :) [13:41]
gac410gac410 now hopes that his irc client was logging :D [13:42]
foswiki_irc6lol
btw, the web-irc in the https://foswiki.org/Community/InternetRelayChat doesn't works by default - only when i changes the https to http. At least for me.
[13:42]
gac410That was set up a very long time ago. [13:45]
foswiki_irc6ah, ok... I figured out this monday.. [13:45]
gac410Try it now
I wonder if the browsers are blocking an http iframe inside an https page. Seems to work when I changed the irc link to https.
[13:48]
jastit's fairly likely
especially since there are a bunch of security-related HTTP headers being set
[13:49]
gac410foswiki_irc6: log is posted. I still need to work on a summary, and attendance [13:56]
MichaelDauma test script shows that META:TOPICINFO's version VERY often differs from the VC's revision id
even when checking in rcs history to a specific VC revision will the TOPICINFO not be cleaned up
[14:04]
gac410That is not good
2.1? 1.1?
[14:05]
MichaelDaumI cam across this as I am writing a new DiffPlugin (replacing rdiff and compare)
and stepping backwards through the history often fails to grab out the correct bits from history
at least the TOPCINFO that comes from historical objects is wrong
we should clean that up ... maybe while loading a Meta obj
not only when saving em
[14:06]
gac410Any idea how far back this issue exists? And is it RCS or PlainFile or both? [14:07]
MichaelDaumthis is a very old issue
I've got some topics over here with 500+ revisions dating back times we still had 1.x version ids in TOPICINFO
[14:07]
gac410Are we in a situation where the history is gone/corrupt or do we just fail to properly restore the version into the meta object [14:10]
MichaelDaumfirst, what happens is something like this: $rev = getRevisionInfo(123) -> $rev != 123 ... it returns the $rev from TOPICINFO at that time and space
this should never ever happen
even when TOPICINFO is wrong
[14:14]
gac410Our unit tests are extensive but still miss things like this. [14:15]
andreliHello [14:22]
gac410hi andreli [14:22]
andreliMichaelDaum: A quick question: How well do ClassificationPlugin and Foswiki Cache work together? I hear users complain, that topic lists etc. are caching too long. [14:24]
MichaelDaumthey do fine
Foswiki's page cache operates on a far lower level
when tracking dependencies
[14:25]
gac410Do you need to add the classification list topics into the WEBDEPENDENCIES list so they refresh when any topic changes? [14:27]
MichaelDaumwhich topic, what does it do? [14:27]
andreliThe Categoy Topic just do not update the liste with the related topics.
It needs a refresh=on, when user just select refresh=cache
[14:28]
MichaelDaumthe Category.txt or SomeCategory.txt [14:29]
andreliSomeCategory.txt [14:29]
gac410hm Don't refresh=on and refresh=cache do the same thing? [14:30]
MichaelDaumtry appending some url param to create another entry to the page cache... like http://.../Web/SomeCategory?t=1
does it differ from the one without a t=1
gac410, refresh=cache is only performing a refresh of the cached page; refresh=on is interpreted by any plugin along the way ... including the page cache.
[14:30]
gac410ah.... okay [14:32]
andrelitried some random GET parameter, did not work. Let me quickly confirm again. [14:32]
MichaelDaumthen it is not the page cache...you should get the same error switching off all of the page cache
btw refresh=cat refreshes the category cache
recomputes the distance matrix and reassigns topics to their cats according to their meta data
to get thru to the category cache with enabled page cache you will need to combine the t=<random> with refresh=cat...sich as http://.../Web/Category?t=123&refresh=cat
[14:33]
andreliThanks. [14:36]
MichaelDaumbut then, well, better nuke all of the page cache with a refres=all [14:36]
andreliYeah, I agree. All the different caches just confuse the users. I will update our skin with refresh=all.
Thanks
[14:37]
gac410refresh=all is admin only [14:37]
andreliähh.
So what are my options?
[14:38]
gac410refresh=all is pretty "brutal" ... it drops the tables and recreates them so you lose the entire page cache. [14:39]
andreliSo, _refresh=on&refresh=cache&refresh=cat_ [14:40]
gac410I think refresh=on covers all of them for the current topic. refresh=all is a special case which destroys the page cache for the entire installation [14:42]
andreliUsers do not differ between Foswiki Cache, DBCache or ImagePlugin. And the nice thing is, when hitting refresh, they accept, when it takes a few seconds more [14:42]
gac410maybe for your skin, the link at the bottom of the page should be refresh=on rather than refresh=cache (pagecache only) [14:43]
andreliAh, so refresh on refreshes the Foswiki cache too? [14:44]
gac410For the current page, yes
MichaelDaum: back to your history issue. What does that say for the bulk_copy tool which copies rev-at-a-time from RCS to PlainFile
[14:44]
andreliOk, so we will do this then.
Thanks, bye
[14:45]
gac410yw... good luck [14:45]
foswiki_irc6gac410: thank you fo rthe log. :) bye for now... [14:46]
MichaelDaumno idea. never touched it. [14:46]
........ (idle for 39mn)
jastI think bulk_copy uses getRevisionInfo [15:25]

foswiki_irc0hello
any one can tell me how to pass values to a template?
say, there's a place in the template at which i want to show some texts that are dynamically created before the template is processed.
[19:14]
.......... (idle for 47mn)
GuilainChi foswiki_irc0, you can use the urlparam macro for doing that [20:05]
.... (idle for 15mn)
foswiki_irc0hi GuilainC, can you give me an example? [20:20]
specifically i just need to show a dynamic text in foswiki/data/System/UserRegistration.txt
when the registration form opens.
[20:25]
gac410foswiki_irc0: Where does this data come from that you want to show?
First, for tailoring UserRegistration, you should not modify anything in the System web. Main/UserRegistration is the form you should tailor
[20:28]
foswiki_irc0from the process that opens the template [20:29]
gac410I have no idea what you mean by the process that opens the template.
You mean the view script?
[20:30]
foswiki_irc0yes. [20:30]
GuilainCsimple sandbox example https://foswiki.org/Sandbox/UrlParamExample
but perhaps not useful to your need
[20:30]
gac410So you are trying to customize the User Registration form? What data do you want to add? [20:31]
GuilainChi gac410 [20:31]
gac410Hi GuilainC [20:32]
foswiki_irc0i want to add a challenge question for the user to enter the answer. this question will be randomly picked from a list. [20:33]
gac410You'd need to write a plugin to do that. I don't recall a challenge plugin offhand. The closest I can think of is the Captcha plugin
Foswiki:Extensions.CaptchaPlugin
[20:35]
FoswikiBothttps://foswiki.org/Extensions.CaptchaPlugin [ CaptchaPlugin ] [20:35]
foswiki_irc0i've implemented captcha, but i need an extra level of security [20:35]
gac410Basically a plugin has to expand some %CHALLENGE% macro adding the question to the form, and then an exit in user registration needs to validate the response.
Probably use the CaptchaPlugin as a model, Foswiki:Development/DevelopersBible has the starting point to look or information
[20:37]
FoswikiBothttps://foswiki.org/Development/DevelopersBible [ DevelopersBible ] [20:39]
foswiki_irc0i thought the view script should be able to replace a place holder (a parameter name) in a template with a value.
i don't see UserRegistration file in Main
[20:39]
gac410System.UserRegistration has instructions to copy it to Main before you customize it.
If someone already modified System.UserRegistration, they you will have difficulty upgrading to new versions.
[20:42]
foswiki_irc0so the template in Main will take precedence to the one with the same name in System? [20:43]
jastSystem.UserRegistration loads Main.UserRegistration if it exists
otherwise it loads System.DefaultUserRegistration
[20:44]
gac410Well if you didn't change system.UserRegistration, yes. It will %INCLUDE% the Main.UserRegistration if it exists. ... jast you type too fast ;) [20:44]
jastsorry
(actually not sorry ;))
[20:44]
gac410:D [20:45]
foswiki_irc0okay. thanks a lot for your help, guys. i need to go now. may come back later for more questions. [20:46]
gac410foswiki_irc0: you can sort of see the tailoring instructions here: https://github.com/foswiki/distro/blob/Release02x01/TopicUserMappingContrib/data/System/UserRegistration.txt
That's the "origina" topic in a Foswiki 2.1.2 system
"original"
[20:46]
foswiki_irc0okay. thanks. bye [20:47]
gac410bye [20:47]
