gac410MichaelDaum: Could you look at Item13410 and https://foswiki.org/Sandbox/MySearchTable Taking the table out of the picture, indeed sort seems to be broken. [13:08]
FoswikiBothttps://foswiki.org/Tasks/Item13410 [ Item13410: Sorting in Table (TablePlugin 1.142) is broken when multipage table is used ] [13:08]
gac410At least I can't see what he's doing wrong.
I'd ask CDot ... but he's not here, so you win :D
[13:08]
MichaelDaumHi, gac410. What exactly is broken? [13:12]
gac410He has a search with a pagesize and a sort. It appears to be applying the size limit first, and then sorting. so the overall order is wrong,
Says it was working fine in 1.1.3. Initially reported a table sorting issue, but it's really search sorting.
[13:13]
MichaelDaumthats a known bug in %SEARCH [13:13]
***ChanServ sets mode: +o Lynnwood__ [13:13]
gac410oh... crap
Is there a workaround?
[13:13]
MichaelDaumsorry, I am not into the search code at all. [13:14]
gac410okay. neither am I. [13:14]
MichaelDaumI have avoided looking at it for almost a decade [13:14]
gac410;D [13:14]
MichaelDaumI remember I once told Sven that sort/limit/filter is broken, i.e. when searching across multiple webs
current perl code tries to work out sort/limit/filter on its own ... instead of delegating it to the actual search impl ... like a database
^search impl^search backend
there is no way Foswiki's search perl code could ever do these kind of operations in a well performing way
given 10k results
and only sort/limit/filter to display the first page
[13:15]
gac410Is it possible to solve using Solr? Or is it just plain broken. Reviewing the Tasks/SEARCH page, i don't see it there. [13:18]
MichaelDauma database would just return the first page and inform you about more
Foswiki
[13:18]
FoswikiBotFoswiki is gradually pulling away from TWiki compatibility. We don't do things intentionally to break things, but not all of their recent features are all that well thought out [13:19]
MichaelDaum's search code should just convert a bunch of rows in a result set to html [13:19]
gac410right. That sounds like a huge redesign challenge :(
(and foswikibot remembers the strangest things)
[13:19]
MichaelDaumalas tons of search logic is coded in perl that a database already solving ... and being invented for this exact purpose
current search code needs a friendly nuke
[13:20]

gac410thanks MichaelDaum ... I'll try to reply to the task later. heading out for a few hours. [13:41]

LynnwoodI just discovered that in version 2.x.x, there's no way to INCLUDE a specific version of an text attachment into a topic.
In the past, I have at times saved content as an attached txt file and then INCLUDED it in the topic. This offered a way to cache unchanging content.
And occasionally, it was useful to INCLUDE a specific revision of that attachment.
This is what is no longer possible. The PUBURL attachment_version does not really work for file store.
Using SCRIPTURL{viewfile}... inside the INCLUDE comes back un-authorized (assuming you even allow included URLs).
