foswiki_irc1Hi folks, I've serious issues migrating from V1.0.9 to 2.1.2 while trying to copy with 'perl bulk_copy.pl ..'
Server is debian based /w Perl v5.14.2
1st error: Use of qw(...) as parentheses is deprecated at /var/www/Foswiki-1.0.9/lib/Foswiki/Configure/Load.pm line 70
then 'defined(%hash) is deprecated at /var/www/Foswiki-1.0.9/lib/Foswiki/Configure/Load.pm line 152'
then 'Use of qw(...) as parentheses is deprecated at /var/www/Foswiki-1.0.9/lib/Foswiki.pm line 3441'
and so on .. is there a way to fix this for successful migrating data to new instance? TIA!

fsfsfoswiki_irc1: "deprecated" shouldn't be an issue, as long as those are just warnings [10:21]

gac410We sure don't make it easy to kill off the WebLeftBarWebsList :(
vrurg, Your DependenciesFreedom topic has gone off the rails. If you can just clarify that you will have a simple way to turn off the cpanm magic and report in some simple form that a dep is missing (like 2.1 does), I'll drop my concerrn.
I suppose you don't even need the simple missing dependencies error. Just don't FORCE sites to have internet connections and to use cpanm. please.

vrurggac410: It forces nobody. The only implication is that on the first ever foswiki run it tries to install missing modules. After that as soon as perl5/ dir exists and contains .checksums file nobody wouldn't even notice it exists. Just to simplify things.
I thought I was explaining this. :(
Didn't see the topic today yet.
[15:22]
gac410I want a knob that makes it not try
touch "lib/NOCPAN" and then use my own admin skills to follow SystemRequirements and apt-get or yum or whatever the required dependencies.
[15:22]
vrurgIt's a matter of few minutes to add it. Anyway it doesn't change the fact that even in current half-demo implementation it forces nobody to nothing. cpanm would fail to install the missing modules – and that's it. Nothing else would happen.
BTW, you for that matter it is possible to manually create perl5/.checksums and the effect would be the same – it will do nothing.

gac410Just make it clear. "There will be a simple knob that disables cpanm." that we can add to the install guide for sites that are under constraints.
and with that knob set, it will NEVER attempt to cpanm, otherwise all the magic is just fine.
You don't need to add it to the code right now. Just say how it will be accomplished in your design.
[15:25]
vrurgI'll get back to the topic later today. Too much work for now. [15:27]
gac410No problem. no hurry. ;) [15:27]
