foswiki_irc3Hello, I transfered a foswiki 1.1.9 installation from one Debian 8 server to another. Directory structure and file access rights are preserved. However, on the web the error message "Insecure dependency in sysopen while running with -T switch" is displayed. What can I do? [16:48]
gac410foswiki_irc3: remove the -T flag from all the shebangs in the bin scripts.
There is a upstream bug with CGI::Session which fails taint checking. In Foswiki 2.x we've disabled taint checking by default.
Note that if you've gone to a very new perl, and new CGI and other cpan modules, Foswiki 1.1.9 might not run.
[16:50]
foswiki_irc3ok, trying... but the wiki was running fine on the old server [16:52]
gac410Newer version of perl or CPAN modules?
If it's the taint error down in the CGI session file drivers, the bug was triggered actually by a bug-fix in perl.
Foswiki bug item Item13938 - but nothing that we can fix unfortunately.

foswiki_irc3same version of perl 5.20.2 on both systems [16:56]
gac4101.1.9 is running on 5.20.2? Without flooding logs with errors. You must have done some local patching.
I really don't know then. We've moved on well past 1.1.x releases. and the 2.x releases have taint checking disabled by default.
[16:57]
foswiki_irc3I removed all the -T flags and it works now! Thank you [17:09]
gac410yw. [17:09]
foswiki_irc3Will try to migrate to 2.x but it seems not to be trivial [17:09]
gac410no, unfortunately it's rather involved. But if you have users that use non-english characters, it would be helpful for them.
2.x is reasonably compatible. But old version of Foswiki (and TWiki before it) made no attempt to validate character sets. So depending upon what users cut/pasted into topic, it can be quite complex.
Easiest way is to NOT use the bulk_copy script that we appear to recommend. Instead look into the CharsetConverterContrib. Especially if your wiki is large, with lots of topic history.
[17:10]
foswiki_irc3Thanks anyway. The problem at hand is solved. It' not my decision to upgrade, I am only maintaining the server. Bye [17:20]
