WhoWhatWhen
gac410Lynnwood: See Item13785 - That's the task we opened against configure and the disappearing files. [04:19]
FoswikiBothttps://foswiki.org/Tasks/Item13785 [ Item13785: ExtensionInstaller fails to replace files under some conditions. ] [04:19]
gac410I've added some notes to it on your findings. Maybe we'll figure this out yet. [04:20]

Lynnwoodgac410 - I read Item13785 with interest. I'll try updating another plugin later today on the site and see if I can replicate issue. [14:04]
FoswikiBothttps://foswiki.org/Tasks/Item13785 [ Item13785: ExtensionInstaller fails to replace files under some conditions. ] [14:04]
gac410I meant to ask .. did you install the plugin using the shell installer, or the configure web ui? [14:04]
LynnwoodConfigure [14:05]
FoswikiBotConfigure is working Michael, its saving normal pages which is failing [14:05]
gac410FoswikiBot: forget configure [14:05]
FoswikiBotgac410: I forgot about configure. [14:05]
gac410Hm well using configure, it *does* use the store to check in changes. Using the cli shell, it just copies the files currently [14:06]
LynnwoodOne small detail - that I don't think is significant but just to note - as I reported to you before i did the install, configure did not correctly display that the plugin needed updating - I told it to reinstall anyway. [14:06]
gac410Y, that shouldn't matter. I fixed that bug. It was not correctly comparing a SVN revision to a dotted decimal rev. Already checked in for 2.1.3 [14:07]
LynnwoodAlso, I didn't really check if other non-topic files were correctly updated. I did look at the lib/Foswiki/Plugins/PublishPlugin and the dates were current so I assume they were updated. [14:08]
gac410I really think it's only the topics running into issue Store is somehow losing the change [14:08]
LynnwoodYea, i don't think either of these points are significant. I'm just trying to remember everything and not overlook anything. [14:09]
gac410The other files are simply copied. Note that you do get more detailed debugging if you enable ASSERTs in LocalLib.cfg
With FOSWIKI_ASSERTS enabled, it lists each file, and whether it was copied, or checked-in / attached.
[14:09]
LynnwoodIn the case on installing, why does configure use store to check in changes? It removes the history anyway doesn't it?
thanks for note on ASSERTS - i'll do that.
[14:10]
gac410No. It's intended to preserve history if the site edited the topics in foswiki. So the new version will get a new rev, and site could compare to see what changed.
Otherwise you lose all your local modifications ... except that we take a backup. but that's a pain to restore.
