GithubBot[DBIStoreContrib] cdot pushed 1 new commit to master: https://git.io/vy6NN
DBIStoreContrib/master 2d8c968 CDot: Item13170: merge a few more minor fixes that were pending, plus improve doc and tracing. Push boolean testing of strings down into Personality. Still a problem making SQL behave like perl for lexical comparisons using numeric operators, but there's no obvious way to fix it (and it's bad behaviour in perl anyway)

OliverKruegerHello World [23:29]
gac410hi OliverKrueger [23:29]
OliverKruegerHi Georg [23:30]
gac410hows things [23:30]
OliverKruegerMy past is catching up with me. ;)
I have to deal with a very old foswiki installation.
[23:31]
gac410cool [23:31]
OliverKruegerTrying to run a Foswiki 1.1'ish installation on a current apache/perl combo. [23:32]
gac410wow. Not going to have much luck I don't think
I did have some patches to try to fix compatibility, not sure what condition they are in.
[23:32]
OliverKruegerperl is complaining about changes on the "any" pragma in CGI. :/ [23:33]
gac410yeah. That's one There will be a lot of issues.
Also can't call cgi->param() in a list context. That took a lot of patching.
[23:33]
OliverKruegerAh, okay. So no chance to for a quick fix (lets say, in the next hour) I guess. ;) [23:34]
gac410I'm looking ... I thought I had a PatchRelease contrib that could patch in the fixes. But I can't find it, :*
:(
kinda eating while looking
[23:35]
OliverKruegerIts not that important. But thanks. [23:37]
gac410Check here: https://github.com/foswiki/distro/tree/Release01x01/PatchRelease01x01Contrib/working/configure/patch
I don't think it ever got released. All the patches are there, but in a format that applies to all of the 1.1.x releases.
[23:37]
OliverKruegerOliverKrueger has to figure out how to apply them in a row. [23:40]
gac410I think you can just pipe them to patch -p0
Obviously choose the ones for your release. the ~~~DIFF lines are ignored by patch I'm pretty sure. They let the postinstall exit in the contrib actually test the module md5 to see if the patch applies.
If the PatchContrib is actually built as a real extension, then the extension installer should auto-patch each file that's applicable to your system.
I got burned out getting the damn thing built - it's a huge job, and decided the better course was to tell people to upgrade.
[23:41]
OliverKruegerI guess I'll skip it for tonight. But thanks for the help. :) [23:44]
gac410It should get fw working with a fairly recent perl. 5.20 maybe, and recent cpan.
okay good luck. I should be around tomorrow ... assuming the blizzard we are due to get doesn't take out the power / internet
[23:45]
OliverKruegerOh, good luck. [23:46]
gac410they are predicting 18-24 inches up to 61cm of snow :P [23:47]
OliverKruegerI think its not worth the effort in my case. I think I'll follow the clean slate approach. ;)
oops. Thats alot.
[23:47]
gac410be prepared for some effort to migrate the data to utf8
Also might want to review plugins in use. Not all are ready to support unicode. Item13483
[23:48]
FoswikiBothttps://foswiki.org/Tasks/Item13483 [ Item13483: Incompatible extensions with the unicode core ] [23:48]
OliverKruegerluckily the wiki was never used as a wiki. Its more or less just a container for pdf attachments. [23:49]
gac410ah Still, if topics have any "pasted" data, you'll run into windows smart-quotes, etc that need fixing.
Best way is to use the CharSetConverterContrib and NOT the bulk_copy tools
[23:50]
OliverKruegerThanks for the warning. [23:51]
gac410Also, don't forget to use the tool to convert empty DENY rules to ALLOW * ... (or enable the compatibilty switch in configure)
Upgrade is a recommended solution though for sure. Quite a few xss and other security issues have bee addressed along the way.
Anyway... good luck, and g'night
[23:51]
OliverKruegerThanks. :)
And good luck with the weather.
[23:53]
gac410thanks. Snowblower is all gassed up, generator too. :D [23:54]
