foswiki_irc5I'm organizing an IT knowledge base type things and have a lot of documents created with wikiwords, what's the best way to organize them? Should I just create headers for each section and then link to the relevant pages under that or do you think a TOC would work? [02:45]
..... (idle for 22mn)
gac410flexible wiki applications use SEARCH to generate dynamic lists of stuff.
Use of Foswiki:System.DataForms to organize pages
[03:07]

......... (idle for 44mn)
foswiki_irc5Thanks, I will look into that when I start redoing things. For the time being I guess a TOC will work for a simple small knowledge base [03:52]
gac410sure. TOC is simple, lists all the linked heading. And you can generate a TOC of any topic, %TOC{"SomeTopic" web="Theweb"}% [03:53]

JulianLevensgac410 I've tried to upgrade a server here to FW 2.2 alpha, everything appears to be fine except edit
None of the buttons work: #save, #checkpoint, #cancel etc
Plus I can see that the text I add as a test disappears
[13:22]
gac4102.2 alpha has the new TinyMCE editor. It can work, but there might be settings changes. Works on trunk.foswiki.org
You might need to clear your caches?
[13:23]
JulianLevensAny idea what settings and what caches? [13:24]
gac410your browser client side cache?
Not sure about settings. But if you've overridden any of the WYSIWYGPLUGIN_ or TINYMCEPLUGIN_ settings probaby need to remove them.
cdot did the work on the editor. I have not fiddled with it too much.
[13:25]
cdotno settings changes. 99% of the work was in JS, perl interface pretty much unchanged. I have seen something similar to JulianLevens; pretty sure it's not my doing.
cdot is running trunk here, with no problems
[13:26]
JulianLevensIt could well be me there are some local differences, I was just hoping for clues for an easy fix ;)
I might just start again
[13:31]
cdotI would suspect skin templates. They banjaxed me at one point too. [13:32]
gac410Check for any JS errors in the browser logs, any 404, or other issues. Yeah... good point on skin / modified templates. [13:32]

JulianLevensgac410: changing SKIN setting has allowed me to isolate this to NatEdit changes, presumably a newer edit.natedit.tmpl is not happy with something else in my setup
I'll need to dig further
[14:56]
gac410interesting
That's something to add to the release notes if you figure it out,
[14:56]
JulianLevensAnother nit discovered: could not find pub/System/TinyMCEPlugin/plugins/foswiki/plugin.js
I fixed that with a symlink to the uncompressed version
[14:57]
gac410Hm sounds like a manifest issue ... which reminds me.. [14:58]
JulianLevensThat could be artefact of running pseudo-installed [14:58]
gac410cdot, when I ran a check_manifests.pl on the new TinyMCE, it had something like 700 errors? develop files that are not included in the manifest.
If you are not going to ship them, we'll need to add an exception to the check_manifests.pl script to skip them.
If anything else was wrong, it may have been lost in the noise.
[14:59]
......... (idle for 44mn)
cdot: The following 788 files files were found in git, but are not in MANIFEST: ... (grep -v tinymce_dev returns:) pub/System/TinyMCEPlugin/plugins/foswiki/img/colour.gif
So only one file is missing from the MANIFEST except for all the dev files.
[15:43]
cdotit's right. There's a whole release of tinymce_dev which isn't to be shipped, but has to be where it is for dev [15:44]
gac410Okay. I'll update the checker to exclude the tinymce_dev directory. [15:45]
cdotI probably just forgot to git rm colour.gif. I don't believe it's used. [15:45]
gac410This is what I ran: core/tools/check_extensions.pl -e TinyMCEPlugin | grep -v tinymce_dev [15:45]
cdoty, that would be right. [15:45]
gac410it's actually check_manifest.pl that validates the manifest. but check_extensions.pl runs it, and a bunch of other checks on the readiness for a release. [15:46]

cdotAnyone who cares to is invited to test the just-checked-in new version of the PublishPlugin. Not many changes on the surface, but a major rework under the hood to make it easier to maintain and extend. [17:33]
