OscarSchneiderhi, is there any way to redirect all topics in a certain web from view to viewauth depending on the source IP? E.g. for external visitors of Web "ExampleWeb" view/ExampleWeb/SomeTopic gets redirected to viewauth/ExampleWeb/SomeTopic? We have a web whose topics should be visibile for unauthenticated users on-site but only for authenticated users off-site. Other Webs should also be viewable unauthenticated from off-site [06:51]

daemongac410, anything critical between .4 rc1 and .3-release?
err
gac410, anything critical between .4 rc1 and .4-release?
[14:55]
gac410looking ... I suppose there might be a few significant in some cases.
Some related to use with mod_perl, or behind reverse proxies
One rather annoying bug in mod_perl or fastcgi that could be significant. But it's been around since 2.0 ... Config changes prior to save can leak into the in-memory live settings
A couple of issues on very old perl (5.8) or very new (5.26)
[14:58]
daemonah
I use a reverse proxyt
and luckily 5.24 perl
oooh
<gac410> One rather annoying bug in mod_perl or fastcgi that could be significant. But it's been around since 2.0 ... Config changes prior to save can leak into the in-memory live settings
is that the one I found with the cache thing
[15:03]
gac410y. [15:04]
daemonneat
well lets give her a whirl updating then
[15:06]
gac410https://github.com/foswiki/distro/compare/FoswikiRelease02x01x04_RC1...FoswikiRelease02x01x04
Update should be pretty simple. Unzip the -upgrade- package on top of the install. You can use --strip-components=1 to drop the top directory name.
Take a backup first :D
er s/unzip/tar -x/
[15:07]
daemonbloody github with no ipv6 (mumble)
Foswiki-2.1.4.tgz 23% of 16 MB 589 kBps 00m22s
16M (0_o)
alot bigger than I imagined
[15:15]
gac410The upgrade package has all files except for a dozen or so that are typically not updated. [15:17]
daemon# ls | grep -i fos | grep --invert backup
foswiki
Foswiki-2.1.4.tgz
[15:17]
FoswikiBotfoswiki is gradually pulling away from TWiki compatibility. We don't do things intentionally to break things, but not all of their recent features are all that well thought out [15:17]
daemonok dokey here we go [15:17]
gac410https://foswiki.org/Development/BuildingARelease#Make_upgrade_packages
jeeze FoswikiBot why are you remembering stuff like that :P
[15:18]
daemonso assuming I know how your paths are going to be ... tar -xzvf Foswiki-2.1.4.tgz -C . [15:19]
gac410er. Foswiki-update-2.1.4 .... not the full package! [15:19]
daemonah [15:20]
gac410It will by default create the top-level directory Foswiki-upgrade-2.1.4
so tar --strip-components=1 -zxf Foswiki-upgrade-2.1.4.tgz
That should omit the top-level directory
[15:20]
daemon--strip-components=1 -zxf Foswiki-upgrade-2.1.4.tgz
err
# ls | grep --invert backup
apache24
foswiki
Foswiki-upgrade-2.1.4.tgz

I made a backup anyhow
[15:22]

[15:22]
gac410yes ;) [15:22]
daemon# tar --strip-components=1 -zxf Foswiki-upgrade-2.1.4.tgz -C ./foswiki/
-C == Path to extract to
might be nicer for some people
lets restart apache and see if it explodes :D
https://wiki.tmp.group/HWMatrix/DataStorage
of course it does!
lol
[15:24]
gac410hm Permissions? [15:25]
daemoncertainly is

drwxrwxr-x 3 root wheel 3 31 May 14:32 FCGI
drwxrwxr-x 29 root wheel 72 1 Jun 15:24 Foswiki
it stripped the permissions
extracted the package as root:wheel
https://wiki.tmp.group/HWMatrix/DataStorage
and working :)
why www-data
[15:26]
gac410? Depends on your OS ? [15:28]
daemon'www' on freebsd
but the question was more curious to linux
'www' has always been the httpd 'user' since way back in time
why did www-data suddenly appear
[15:28]
gac410Every distro is different. no idea. Some use "apache" some use "www" some www-data ... [15:28]
daemonI wonder if its because 'www' was the 'system httpd' and 'www-data' was a third party server
hm another mystery to find the answer to when bored
lol
[15:29]
gac410And as I look at your site ... awwww crap. I forgot to bump the Foswiki "VERSION" string out of alpha status. No real consequence but it says 2.1.3_004 instead of 2.1.4 :P
damn damn damn
[15:30]
daemonlol I don't give a crap, but others may wonder if the update applied [15:30]
gac410Y, it doesn't really cause any issues at all. But it sure is annoying that I missed that [15:31]
daemonit was a very fast turn around for the release
went from RC1 to release in what, 3 weeks?
RC1 was new when I installed my WIKI and that was not that long ago
as long as nothing else got missed you did pretty well :)
[15:32]
gac410It was pretty small release. 31 fixes is pretty low. The site that found the security issues was making them public in May, so I wanted to get it out. Normally we would have waited a bit longer. [15:34]
daemonjust hope those effected by the issue have caught the update notice [15:34]
gac410They were pretty minor. We rated them Sev 3 - fix on normal task item, no special announcements. [15:35]
daemonits a bit 'wordpressy' but you could always consider making a 3rd party call out from the configuration script to your own httpd probably a JSON handler, that returns a alert status as a json object, based on the version sent with the request; display it as a warning if something severe found
I certainly would enable it
'configure' even
[15:36]
gac410Probably best to add something like that to UpdatesPlugin. It already looks for new versions of extensions.
For something like changing "Release 2.1.4 Version 2.1.3_004" to become "Release 2.1.4 Version 2.1.4" would you consider that a simple rebuild of the same release, or actually re-release it as a 2.1.5
[15:37]
daemonI would just repush the the archieve and leave a note on the bugtrack/release notes
certainly not jump a minor for it
those that care can just regrab the package; those that don't likely won't even notice
[15:41]
gac410if I just rerun the build script with the correct option, it will fix it. Time to add another item to "things to check" in the BuildingARelease topic. [15:43]
daemonif you wanted to be really complete as I assume the difference is '1 file' you could even post a link to the changed file in the notice in the release log [15:44]
gac410Well it is one file with an actual code change. (The Foswiki.pm module) But all the minimized/gzipped js/css files get new timestamps when they are recreated [15:45]
daemonI can;t see in this case that it would be relevant; but anyhow I am on the side of just rebuilding it and making a note in the release/changes/development log
as it has no actual effect on anything
purely cosmetic
[15:46]
gac410y. Build just finished. But to be sure I've got to test it again just to be certain. [15:47]
daemon# grep 2.1.3_004 ./lib/Foswiki.pm
use version 0.77; $VERSION = version->declare('v2.1.3_004');
take it that is the bit thats wrong
[15:47]
gac410yup. Should just be 2.1.4 [15:48]
daemonuse version 0.77; $VERSION = version->declare('v2.1.4');
there we go
[15:48]
gac410MichaelDaum: What do you think. Wrong version string in Foswiki.pm (I ran build script with wrong argument). Just rebuild and re-upload? With a note in the logs. It's purely cosmetic. [15:52]
MichaelDaumjust rebuild reupload. no need to be ├╝berkorrekt [15:53]
gac410okay.. that was my conclusion thanks. [15:54]
