foswiki_irc2I noticed when I create a table within foswiki it applies some sort of formatting and borders, but if I paste from Excel I can't re-create that effect. How do you give pasted table structures some sort of design? [12:28]

foswiki_irc2Also, is there a way to split tables apart? I made three separate tables and somehow they all got joined together into one [13:26]

gac410Hi MichaelDaum Got started on Item14414 added a USERLIST macro that uses the mapper's eachUser() to list users rather than depending on topics containing UserForm. [17:02]
FoswikiBothttps://foswiki.org/Tasks/Item14414 [ Item14414: Implement AddPasswordManagementFunctions feature - USERLIST macro ] [17:02]
gac410Converted JQueryAjaxHelper and FAQRebuildingWikiusersTopic to use the USERLIST. No idea how well this is going to work in LDAP based wikis though.
keep finding little errors. Registration inserts users with non-ASCII first letter into the wrong location in the table - An NFKD issue. Also SpreadSheetPlugin LISTSORT can't sort unicode either.
[17:03]
MichaelDaumyea lets see [17:05]
gac410I'll push to Item14414 branch for now. [17:05]
MichaelDaumwas looking over the proposal this morning ... [17:06]
gac410If nothing else, the USERLIST macro is needed now that Main web can use forms other than UserForm for registration. UserForm, CutomerForm. ClientForm, etc. [17:07]
GithubBot[distro] gac410 created Item14414 (+3 new commits): https://git.io/vH6Vp

gac410I do see one issue with AjaxHelper changing to user USERLIST. It cannot find Groups now Which the "add to group" API used to also allow groups to be found. [17:30]
I wonder if it would be better to have a GROUPLIST macro with same options as USERLIST where the _DEFAULT string is a regex to search the available group names. [17:35]
MichaelDaumsounds sensible [17:49]
gac410gac410 wonders if USERLIST should be an admin only macro. Just tripped over Item2141 [17:50]

hvxgrI'm comparing wikis. Want one for issue tracking. Want to be able to use 'vim' to create wiki code instead of WSIWIG editor. How does that work in foswiki? [18:18]
gac410you could use vim to edit the text files directly on disk, but that's not an ideal setup - no revision tracking, etc.
There are no extensions that I'm aware of that would let you use vim in a web browser somehow.
[18:19]
hvxgrgac410: I use a firfox add on that allows me to use vim for text box entry.
I can use vim for example with jira, using that add on.
[18:21]
gac410Ah. There's a text editor - somewhat assisted, that is not wysiwyg. [18:22]
hvxgrI know RCS, and I would not mind sshing in to the server. [18:23]
gac410ie, it uses javascript to help you enter wiki-formatted headings, bullets, etc.
And there is the original plain text editor that does just use a textbox for editing.
[18:23]
hvxgrIs there a demo link where I could experiment? [18:23]
gac410That needs some skin overrides to access directly in place of NatEdit.
https://foswiki.org/Sandbox web is a playground.
[18:23]
hvxgrThanks. [18:24]
gac410Need to register an account.. And then in your User topic " * Set SKIN = pattern " will disable the nat editor iirc.
See Foswiki:Main.GeorgeClark. I enabled two set statements. SKIN = pattern and NOWYSIWYG = 1 and for me, the old plain text editor works
[18:24]
FoswikiBothttps://foswiki.org/Main.GeorgeClark. [ GeorgeClark ] [18:26]
hvxgrgac410: OK, registering/trying now ... Sounds good. [18:27]
gac410Settings are done either as Wysiwyg bullets, or, when using wikitext editor, 3-spaces, asterisk, space, Set SETTING = value
I have to admit, there are probably a few topics here and there that's i've touched and inserted jjkkjkll and :wq in places. :)
[18:28]
...... (idle for 29mn)
hvxgrgac410: Thx, as 'JustAnon' addedthose two settings, and then created a test page, and was able to edit with vim OK, with that ff extension. :) [18:58]
gac410Great! [18:59]
hvxgrConfluence used to support this approach, and then after an upgrade several years back they intentionally broke it. This fix you showed me is fine/great, but what are the chances you will take this ability away in some upgrade (pls don't)? [19:04]
gac410I don't know of any plans to remove it. I know MichaelDaum is working on a new pluggable edit engine, but most extensions let you fall back to the original base feature by skin or other settings. [19:06]
hvxgrgac410: Thx. [19:08]
