foswiki_irc9I am running Windows 10 with latest VMWare player. Where can I get a working FOSWiki image to work with this configuration? [14:32]
gac410We have a vmware image on our download page: Foswiki:Download [14:33]
FoswikiBothttps://foswiki.org/Download [ FoswikiRelease02x01x04 ] [14:33]
foswiki_irc9I'll try it - thanks. [14:33]

foswiki_irc9the sourceforge vmware image appears to be infected with a virus

gac410hm I find it very unlikely that our foswiki vm image has a virus. It's linux, built on a linux system. I wish foswiki_irc9 had reported why he thinks that it's infected. [17:03]

rathierprobably some AV reported a false positive [18:32]
Or sourceforge bundled their packets with some broken or malicious software
On the other hand: Always be skeptic about virtual machines you download of the internet and run in your infrastructure

foswiki_irc7hello. anybody online?
hello there. I need help installing FOSWiki. I've tried the FAQ but was not sucessful
[19:52]
rathierfoswiki_irc7: If you describe your problem, someone might be able to help [19:57]
foswiki_irc7ok: here is my question. I have a hosted server with ssh access (provider is 1und1) where i want to install FOSWiki. I have installed multiple php and perl based applications before.
It seems that after the initial upload it does not find/properly execute the configuration script. Most often it ends up with claiming that PlainFile and RCS files were found in the data or pub directory (which tehere are non since it is a fresh install).
I have tried creating by creating the localsite, cfg with the cli script - but still the error is the seame
(sorry fortypos)
I am using Foswiki-2.1.4.tgz which i download with wget and unpack with tar
hey rathier - are you in the Karlsruhe area? I know that region, that's why I am asking.
[19:57]
rathierfoswiki_irc7: no. closer to stuttgart [20:04]
foswiki_irc7i see. one of my brothers lives in S
do you have some time to help me with that installation? I am very eager to try out FOSWiki (have been using Tiki-wiki for a couple of projects).
[20:05]
.... (idle for 19mn)
too bad - i just don't get it to work [20:24]
bye [20:34]
rathiersorry, but I haven't installed foswiki for a long time and I haven't seen the errors you are describing [20:35]
gac410foswiki_irc7: Unfortunately today is a bad day for me to help. 40 people showing up soon for a cookout.
I'd probably need to spend time suggesting some debug print statements in the bootstrap code. Something very unusual is happening.
Probably something strange happening in lib/Foswiki/Configure/FileUtil.pm in the findFileOnTree subroutine. But I have no idea what.
[20:36]
foswiki_irc7hey gac410 - i think we have been in contact before on the installation issue
could we make an appointment for the procedure?
[20:42]
gac410yes. I wish I had some brilliant ideas, but I just don't understand what's going on. [20:43]
foswiki_irc7how about i hand over access to my server (ssh and ftp) and you go through the steps - maybe i am making some really dumb mistake over and over again. [20:45]
gac410I could probably spend some time tomorrow ... I'm on the US East Coast, so right now it's like 2145 GMT. I'd be available a couple hours earlier as well [20:45]
foswiki_irc7i am on east coast too and flexible tomorrow. just tell me when and i'll be online [20:46]
gac410I'm a bit hesitant to as for direct server access, as we don't have any sort o formal relationship. But maybe we can figure out some debugging print statements to add to the bootstrap routines to get a hint as to what is going on.
Maybe sometime after 2 PM ... I'll look for you.
[20:47]
foswiki_irc7i understand - yes your idea could work too. using pastebin, screenshots, copy&paste etc.
great - i will be online 2pm - thanks a lot!
bye
[20:48]
gac410I hope we figure something out. you're welcome. bye [20:49]
