WhoWhatWhen
gac410For more unusual types of authentication, typically Apache authentication is used and foswiki uses the identiy established by the apache modules. [00:01]
foswiki_irc0ok. I was hoping the twiki two factor authentication stuff might also be included in foswiki [00:03]
gac410Is that somewhat new? I'm not familiar with it.
I sort of follow twiki changes, but don't remember seeing that one.
[00:03]
foswiki_irc0might be. I just recently installed twiki, but I like the look and feel of foswiki better.
thanks for your help. I guess I will poke around the code.
[00:04]
gac410I'm looking at the twiki manual now. What did they call it. I don't see it mentioned in the TWikiUserAuthentication [00:06]
foswiki_irc0let me check [00:06]
gac410TWiki and Foswiki are generally still compatible internally. If it's a login manager, we might be able to port it. [00:06]
foswiki_irc0i was hoping to use something like this one. hxxp://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Plugins/SmsTwoStepAuthContrib
but instead of SMS message, do the duo stuff
[00:07]
gac410cool I see they have two contribs. Sms and Email based 2-factor. [00:10]
foswiki_irc0yep... but no duo :-( [00:10]
gac410I'd have to dig a little and see how they plugin the 2nd factor in to the login mechanism. [00:10]
foswiki_irc0Cool, i you don't mind.
i=if
I need to run. Should I just check the logs for a response later?
[00:11]
gac410They seem to not have "core" changes. It's done with a plugi-in login manager [00:14]
Regarding TwoStepAuth... The TWiki extensions do require "core" changes. So they are not a clean port to foswiki, at least as written. However in thinking about the design, they *could* be implemented without needing core changes.
What TWiki did was modified TemplateLogin to add in support for a 2nd step. The LoginManagers on both Foswiki and TWiki are fully pluggable, so TwoStepLogin shouild just be a plugin replacement for Template Login, avoiding core changes.
So... This can probably be ported. As far as Duo goes, I have no facilities to test this, so I can't really do much there.

For the logs: Regarding Two Factor authentication: It looks like I'll be able to convert the twiki sms two step auth contrib using a slightly different approach from twikib [03:17]

foswiki_irc7Regarding the conversion of twiki sms two step auth, that would be awesome. Once that is working, I think I could use it as a template for making a DUO two factor auth.
Is it an easy thing to convert?
