zak256Should the UserForm topic be referenced from SYSTEMWEB or USERSWEB ?
I see, you can put a userdefined UserForm topic in MAINWEB, so if all references point to SYSTEMWEB that wouldn't be correct then?
But if no userdefined Main.UserForm is present, will USERSWEB still work then?
[13:06]
jastwhere exactly do you want to reference it? [13:12]
zak256I see it is referenced in almost all of our users topics in %META:FORM{name=...}%
In some of our old users it says MAINWEB, newer point to SYSTEMWEB, and in System/PatternSkinElements I found an example with USERSWEB.
...the latter only being a view-script though.

I think I will just replace all occurrences of Main.UserForm and %25MAINWEB%25.UserForm with %25SYSTEMWEB%25.UserForm with a simple sed-script.
I was just curious on how the mechanism works resolving the correct UserForm.

jastthe form as it appears in a user topic is a specific reference [13:41]
zak256So it either points to the general Systemweb or a userdefined Form in Mainweb? ok. [13:42]

gac410The user topics point to whatever form the System.NewUserTemplate points to. So if you tailor UserRegistration to use a different form, then NewUserTemplate (or whatever template you use) needs to also point to the same form.
This is a change in the most recent Foswiki. You can now have multiple user forms and user registration pages. So you could have a UserForm and a CustomerForm, and have custom registration page pointing to the appropriate template and form.
Once a user is "registered" the user topic "sticks" to whatever form was used in the template. So if you make changes to the UserForm you should copy both it and the NewUserTemplate to the UsersWeb
Never edit the one in the System web.
Ideally you should never change any topic or attachment in the System web. It makes upgrades much simpler.

zak256gac410: Thanks for the explanation. That's what I assumed so far. Luckily we will probably have only one UserForm and the one from the Systemweb is sufficient. [17:01]
