MichaelDaumThanks. Removed it. [14:32]

LynnwoodI've noticed on a site that the debug.log file is getting filled up with this message: "Unterminated <> operator at (eval 444300) line 1." The number after "eval" changes but otherwise the same. Does anyone recognize what this is from? I haven't been able to identify the source module. [16:04]
.... (idle for 16mn)
In configure, I searched for "debug" and confirmed every related option was disabled. One odd thing is that the search returned "Logging and Statistics > Logging > {DebugFileName}" but find no setting for that. [16:20]
ok... so no plugins have debugging enabled. What other source of debug messages are there? [16:32]
gac410That sounds like a perl warning. If you enabled ASSERTS it would probably crash.
DebugFileName is only used by one of the loggers - can't remember now if it's plainfile or legacy
[16:33]
Lynnwoodah, ok that makes sense.
probably legacy since this site uses plainfile
[16:34]
gac410yeah ... oh and the name is Compatibility. I was drawing a blank [16:35]
LynnwoodSo perl warnings are logged automatically? [16:35]
gac410yes
And ASSERT escalates them to hard failure.
[16:35]
Lynnwooddon't want to do that... [16:36]
gac410evals can be really tough to debug - Even a traceback from a die might not point to where it's happening.
And if it's down in search, sometimes it can be a malformed %SEARCH macro ... iirc

............. (idle for 1h1mn)
atempletHey thanks, I ended up posting it on the support site. https://foswiki.org/Support/Question1893 [19:29]
................... (idle for 1h31mn)
gac410atemplet: In bin/configure, on General Settings - File System Paths, there are a bunch of "Validate Permissions" buttons - Do any of them report errors, especially Pub? [21:00]
atempleteverything is currently set to default, and at least pub reports nothing (I think): "Finished checking 5527 files, Permission: wDn Filter: (,v|,pfv)$ "
when i check data I see this occurring several times: "/mnt/big/Foswiki-2.1.2/data/Main/CollimatorRotationForDynamicWedges,pfv/ATTACHMENTS/LT Lateral Sim angle.png missing WebPreferences topic."
it may be for every image that's been attached honestly, most of our pages are just text. 11 instances like that
[21:02]
gac410That's okay That's a bug in the checker fixed in newer code
The plain file store creates directories and the checker was detecting them as subwebs, so not related to your issue.
[21:04]
atempletI see, thanks. [21:05]
gac410What OS and Distribution are you running on?
never mind. You said RedHat.
[21:05]
atempletI'm on redhat 3.10.0-229.14.1.el7.x86_64 [21:06]
gac410Is your system "enforcing" SELinux access policies? If SELinux is active it overrides the old file permissions settings. [21:06]
atempletI actually have to do a "setenforce 0" when the computer reboots
well that was my workaround to grant other computers access to the wiki, not fully understanding permissions
Does that answer your question?
[21:07]
gac410I think so. I am not really all that familiar with selinux or other mandatory access control implementations.
I only know that it can cause issues ;)
I'm not really sure what could cause file upload issues. I think setenforce 0 does disable selinux. So that's good.
in your Apache error.log file, is there more of a traceback that might show what module the error is occuring in?
Could /tmp be full?
[21:08]
atempletWe actually had the drive fill up at some point, and I tried to free up space which prompted me to move the temp directory to another one
I see in the logs this:
[21:16]
gac410Don't paste too muc
h
If it's a bunch of lines please use http://pastebin.com and set a short lifetime.

atemplet[Tue Aug 29 14:35:24.596526 2017] [cgi:error] [pid 1936] [client <ip redacted>:57443] AH01215: Error in tempfile() using template /tmp/XXXXXXXXXX: Could not create temp file /tmp /On0Wx1u9_c: No such file or directory at /usr/local/share/perl5/CGI.pm line 3390., referer: http://123.45.67.90/foswiki/bin/attach/Main/FillClippedSBRTBoard [21:17]
gac410Ah. Down in CGI :( [21:17]
atempletIt's a lot of lines but that one seemed the most salient. I did delete a lot of directories from the /tmp directory with names similar to that
maybe that's what triggered it. I thought everything in /tmp was safe to get rid of
[21:18]
TheNorthRememberhas anyone experienced or heard of anyone trying to convert FosWiki to Confluence 6.x? I know it won't be perfect but if some of it works, I'll take it! [21:18]
gac410Yes you can typically clean /tmp
What version of CGI is installed. (See System.PerlDependencyReport)
[21:18]
atempletHere's a pastebin of the full attempt's error log: https://pastebin.com/bzjSeKBC [21:25]
gac410Something is vaguely ringing a bell here. But I'm not finding anything :( [21:29]
atempletI'm seeing a lot of red messages on that perl dependency report. [21:29]
gac410Missing or out of date? [21:30]
atempletIt says Perl version: 5.016003 but I don't see a CGI version here
Ahh it says "ALERT! Possible missing dependency!" but it's all for dependencies in which the description starts with optional, e.g. CPAN:Crypt::SMIME
[21:30]
gac410Okay, optionals are usually oka to be missing.
How about looking on System.FoswikiServerInformation ... And look for CGI.pm in that module list. It should show the version.
[21:31]
atempletI have CGI 4.35 [21:33]
GRRR sorry for wasting your time, thanks for the help! I've resolved it. This page suggested it was apache related: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=181873
It turns out apache was angry that some of the temp directories it had created had been deleted (by me). Restarting apache solved it.
Is there a way to close questions on the support page, or should I just answer myself?
[21:46]
.......................... (idle for 2h5mn)
gac410atemplet: sorry - I had to run out for supper, and a meeting. I just closed your question.
I'm glad you resolved your issue.
