KarlDuderstadtHello, I need help with a wysiwyg conversion problem. I would like ul and li tags that have class attributes to not be converted from html to tml. Adding these attributes to stickybits stop conversion to tml but the tags are still stripped
If anyone know how to prevent the class attribute from being stripped it would be very helpful. I have change the TinyMce setting, so those are not the problem. The issue is with the wysiwyg conversion
Thanks

gac410KarlDuderstadt: I've been looking at the wysiwyg code a bit to try to understand the process. As usual, wysiwyg is way to complex for my pay grade :D
We'd probably need a task with a very detailed recreation. ie Show 3 things. The original HTML in the topic. The HTML generated by TinyMCE (View HTML button) and then the TML created after save (or quicker - the button to display the TML rather than saving)
The easiest way to fix these sorts of things is to build a test case that has the TML -> HTML -> expected TML round trip. Then debugging is possible.
[13:14]
KarlDuderstadtThanks for looking. I also looked but I don't really know how to program in perl. I will generate the task as you have described so it is easier to see the problem [13:27]
gac410It *might* work differently on https://trunk.foswiki.org/ - It has a much newer TinyMCE and the Wysiwyg conversion has had some work done on it.
That will end up becoming Foswiki 2.2.0 hopefully early in 2017.
er. 2018
[13:29]
KarlDuderstadtYes, I was very excited to see the update to tinymce 4. So we are running the newest versions (except for the very last updates of wysiwyg). I will make sure we are all the way up to date and see if the problem is the same
I did test in in the sandbox on foswiki.org and observed exactly the same issue, but the task will make things clearer. Thanks a lot for the suggestions.
[13:31]
gac410Ah... can you try the sandbox on trunk.foswiki.org?
Same login as foswiki.org
[13:32]
KarlDuderstadtyeah thats a good idea. I will try [13:33]
gac410Unfortunately our released code is still on TMCE 3 ... so unless you are running from a git checkout (like trunk.foswiki.org) then being fully up to date is still the old TMCE /Wysiwyg
Also if you create a task, please reference your sandbox topics.
[13:33]
KarlDuderstadtI manually updated using a download off git
sure. I will thanks
[13:34]
gac410I hope before we release 2.2, we'll pull the latest TMCE. Now that 4.x is working, minor updates should not be difficult. [13:35]
KarlDuderstadtYeah, the manual update to MCE 4.x and the new wysiwyg has worked well for us under foswiki 2.12 so far [13:38]

FoswikiOnSlack<mangebjl> Hi, I am running a Foswiki instance (version 2.1.4). For some reason, when I create a new Topic for a web which has a custom template in it (a topic terminating in Template), the Create New Topic window is not showing at he dropdown showing available templates to choose from. Would like to know if anyone has experienced this and might gave me a hint on were I can look further. Thanks! [16:48]
gac410There is a "view templates" link to the right of the dropdown. Does the topic get displayed there?
The template list is a simple %SEARCH But it does exclude some names:
excludetopic="*EditTemplate,*WebCreateNewTopicTemplate,*ViewTemplate"
gac410 hates that we use "Template" to be both skin templates, and topic templates. It gets really confusing.
<mangebjl> So if it is not in the exclude list, and is still not showing, make sure that the user also has view auth for the topic.
[17:01]
FoswikiOnSlack<mangebjl> Ok, thanks I will try it and see how it goes.
<mangebjl> I forgot to mention that all I see in the Create a Topic in Web window is the Title field and at the bottom the create and abort buttons.
<mangebjl> So, no drop down att all
<mangebjl> at all
[17:06]
gac410hm Is this a new install, or migrated from an older version [17:08]
FoswikiOnSlack<mangebjl> It's an old installation that I have upgraded to the 2.14. I am not sure though when this stopped working. Maybe I should try to install a fresh version and then migrate the content and see if that solves the issue. [17:09]
gac410No, we should be able to figure it out.
For the web that's having problems, view the WebCreateNewTopic raw contents ?raw=on
Does it have contents, or is it just a setting ...
* Set VIEW_TEMPLATE = WebCreateNewTopic
[17:10]
FoswikiOnSlack<mangebjl> <!-- * Set VIEW_TEMPLATE = WebCreateNewTopic --> [17:12]
gac410just making sure ... that's 3 lines. The <!-- and --> are on separate lines? [17:12]
FoswikiOnSlack<mangebjl> exactly [17:12]
gac410okay. next question - Does the web contain a topic "WebCreateNewTopicTemplate" ? It should not, so it will default to the System version of that template [17:13]
FoswikiOnSlack<mangebjl> No, that topic is not there. [17:14]
gac410ugh. Does the "WebCreateNewTopic" function correctly in any web?
Oh... are you using the default pattern skin? or some other skin?
[17:15]
FoswikiOnSlack<mangebjl> The WebCreateNewTopicTemplate topic is under the system web, but not under the web with the topic template. [17:16]
gac410That's correct. It's supposed to be that way. [17:17]
FoswikiOnSlack<mangebjl> This web in question is the only one that has a custom topic template. I can try to create one for another web and see if that works. [17:17]
gac410I'm more interested if the WebCreateNewTopic page gets the drop-down boc
box
[17:18]
FoswikiOnSlack<mangebjl> I am using the NATSKIN [17:18]
gac410Ah... damn. That does things very differently, and I don't know it very well at all.
Forget everything I've said :(
[17:18]
FoswikiOnSlack<mangebjl> upps :slightly_smiling_face:
<mangebjl> Maybe I can try to disable the SKIN and see if the functionallity comes back.
[17:19]
gac410NatSkin has a different way of handling this stuff. MichaelDaum would be a better person to ask, but he's left for the day I think. He's in Europe
Just look at Yourweb/WebCreateNewTopic?skin=pattern
no need to disable the skin for other users.
[17:20]
FoswikiOnSlack<mangebjl> That's working :slightly_smiling_face:
<mangebjl> Now I see three fields: Topic Name, Topic Parent, and the Use Template dropdown.
[17:21]
gac410Okay. So best to check with MichaelDaum, NatSkin should support all this, but it uses a different way. I think it is tied in with the AutoTemplatePlugin but I'm not sure. [17:22]
FoswikiOnSlack<mangebjl> Ok, thanks a lot for your help! I will see if I can get in touch with MichaelDaum when he's online again. [17:23]
gac410For natskin there should be a "+NEW" button at the top of the page [17:23]
FoswikiOnSlack<mangebjl> There is [17:24]
gac410When you lick that, it should open up a dialog with buttons. One button should be Template Topic
That should then open a window, with a For Topic Type dropdown.
[17:24]
FoswikiOnSlack<mangebjl> In my case it only shows a Title filed, nothing more. [17:25]
gac410And that drop-down should populate with the tempaltes
Okay. And other than trying this on our blog.foswiki.org which uses NatSkin, I have no idea why it's not being filled in correctly.
natskin uses much different magic internally than patternskin :(
Sorry I wasn't able to help further. If nothing else, you can manually get to the old creator by using skin=pattern on the url. But the real fix is somewhere in natskin
[17:25]
FoswikiOnSlack<mangebjl> I will investigate further and see if I can find any differences. I have some backups before the upgrade that might help me.
<mangebjl> Thanks a lot for your time!
[17:28]
gac410Did you install all the extensions fresh on the new foswiki?
I know the skins and Nat ecosystem of plugins has changed a lot.
Maybe create a new default web, and see if it works there. Maybe it's something in your old web preferences.
[17:29]
FoswikiOnSlack<mangebjl> I am not sure when I installed the Nat skin. I think I started with foswiki 2.0 and then I have added more extensions with the time. At some time I opted for the nat skin.
<mangebjl> I will try that.
[17:31]
gac410You can at least check for new updates. As long as you didn't migrate from an old 1.x foswiki, you are probably in decent shape. [17:32]
FoswikiOnSlack<mangebjl> No, I know it wasn't from 1.x for sure.
<mangebjl> Sounds promising then :slightly_smiling_face:
[17:33]
gac410okay. Hopefully Michael will have ideas. I've just not worked with nat skin enough at all. Though I'm considering it on one of my sites.
It is pretty nice.
[17:34]
FoswikiOnSlack<mangebjl> It's looks very nice, indeed. Allows for a lot of customization.
<mangebjl> If I am not able to find the cause I will contact Michael :slightly_smiling_face:
<mangebjl> Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:
[17:38]
gac410yw. good luck with it.
Check settings and rules on things like the AutoTemplatePlugin for one thing.
[17:39]
FoswikiOnSlack<mangebjl> Thanks for the tip! [17:43]
