LynnwoodMichaelDaum - thanks so much for following up on my email re Solr searches! Very helpful to get me to the next level in understanding where i can tweak results. One follow up question: suggestions where to find more info on what format parameters are available since the aren't listed on the plugin page. I determined that I could use $score by trying it out.
I see the most basic such as $web, $topic & $count. What about rendering field values?
[13:19]
jast$field_*_s
the _s is for 'string'. there are also other type suffixes, e.g. for date fields there's _dt, too
[13:22]
Lynnwoodjast - thanks! So it's using the solr field references preceded with "$"? [13:22]
jastyeah
you can use any Solr field marked as 'stored' in Solr
[13:22]
Lynnwoodgot it. [13:23]
jastfor any field that may not exist in some of your documents, you should also list the field name in the macro's "fields" parameter
that way the macro can clean away the placeholder if it doesn't find the field in the Solr document
at least that's the way it was the last time I used SolrPlugin :)
[13:23]
Lynnwoodthat makes me think that it would be nice to work up a "datadump" page that would render all values stored in Solr for a particular topic. [13:24]
***ChanServ sets mode: +o gac410 [13:24]
jastyou can use the Solr web interface for this kind of thing, plus there's /bin/rest/SolrPlugin/proxy
... which gives you JSON data
[13:24]
Lynnwoodok... got it. [13:25]
jastthe /proxy endpoint requires passing familiarity with Solr's query interface. for instance, the "query" parameter is called "q" IIRC [13:25]
Lynnwoodmy familiarity with Solr queries has not yet rizen to the level of "passing" ;-) [13:26]
gac410Lynnwood: Did you get my msg from the logs - I uploaded test versions of TinyMCE and Wysiwyg plugins to Extensions/Testing web.
Updated tmce to 4.6.7 as well So it's the latest.
[13:26]
Lynnwoodgac410 - no i didn't so thanks for prompting me. I'll check it out. [13:27]
gac410(unless they released again while I was sleeping)
let me know if you see any issues. Thanks.
[13:27]
jastall the other basic query parameters (other than 'q') are listed here: https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/solr/Common+Query+Parameters
and of those I've only used 6 or so
[13:31]
Lynnwoodjast - I'm slowly gleaming the meaning of some of the Documentation in SolrPlugin topic. IT's a bit tricky because it's not obvious what terms correspond. For example, I was slow to figure out that "boostquery" referred to under doc for %SOLRSEARCH corresponds to "bq" parameter in solrconfig.xml. queryfields = qf phrasefields=pf, etc.
And of course, add a note about how to render fields in the section on Fields definitions would be great.

zak256Unfortunately I have yet another problem in my new wiki which I tracked down to the activation of my ExtraSkinIconsTemplate :(
In the Main.WikiGroups page, in the right column there appears now the "Add members"-link correctly and below that instead of the edit/remove-link it only says: <span class=
[14:34]
gac410Ah... That can happen if the wrong type of quotes are used " vs ' [14:35]
zak256Yes, in Main.GroupViewTemplate it says:
%IF{"$allowremove" then='%BR%%ICON{"userdelete" quote="\""}% <a href ....
if I remove the %ICON{"usersdelete" quote="\""}% the error is gone, but of course the icon is missing then.
The contents of my ExtraSkinIconsTemplate are irrelevant for this. I completely emptied that page for a test.
(and I didn't change anything with 'usersdelete' for that matter)
[14:36]
gac410I thought you said it was caused by activation of your ExtraSkinIconsTemplate [14:39]
zak256yes exactly
Apparently only the fact, that I activate the topic causes the error
[14:39]
gac410Activated it by setting SKIN = ExtraSkin,nat,pattern ? [14:40]
zak256yes, in SitePreferentes: Set SKIN = extra, pattern [14:40]
gac410That's really strange. So having skin=extra where the topic has no content, breaks those pages. But changing skin to just pattern fixes them?
In reading the code in lib/Foswiki/Render/IconImage.pm, if the template renders to mixed quotes somehow, then it might change the wrong quotes.
[14:44]
zak256Correct. Just tested it again.
There are still the icons as attachments associated with the topic, but that shouldn't make a difference I think.
[14:47]
gac410Ah... in your ExtraSkin did you TMPL:INCLUDE the icons template
If you don't INCLUDE icons, then your template will replace it rather than override it.
[14:48]
zak256I have the ExtraSkinIconsTemplate.txt on screen now. It only has as first line %META:TOPICINFO{...}% and after that several %META:FILEATTACHMENT{...}% [14:49]
gac410Right. So by doing that you've *deleted* the templates/icons.tmpl
and deleted %TMPL:DEF{"icon:image"}%<span class='foswikiIcon'><img src='%URL%' width='%WIDTH%' height='%HEIGHT%' alt='%ALT%' /></span>%TMPL:END%
[14:50]
zak256Uh... [14:50]
gac410Which is what gets loaded and changed from ' to ""
Well you didn't delete it, you defaulted it back to the definition in foswiki.tmpl
[14:50]
zak256I just wanted to ask... why is the first icon there then? For "Add member..." [14:51]
gac410I don't understand. [14:52]
zak256When everything works, in Main.WikiGroups there are two links in the right column: "Add members" and "Remove members..."
Each with its own icon before that.
The first one is always correct.
The second one breaks when I activate the skin.
But I see... that's because of the way these links are written in GroupViewTemplate.
[14:52]
gac410Anyway. ... really, your extra icons template should have a %TMPL:INCLUDE{"icons"}% right as the first template line
either that or you need to copy the %TMPL:DEF{"icon:image"... line from templates/icons.tmpl into your template
[14:55]
zak256That did it! Oh man...
I would have never thought of that.
Thanks again.
[14:56]
gac410yw
the original icon:image defined in foswiki.tmpl uses mixed single and double quotes. ..bleh.. It's overridden by icons.tmpl to use only single quotes.
This is awful.
[14:58]
zak256I see there are several things to clean up... :-/ [15:06]
gac410gac410 is adding some notes to Item14493 [15:06]
FoswikiBothttps://foswiki.org/Tasks/Item14493 [ Item14493: ICONURL and ICONURLPATH do not work with skin based ICONs. ] [15:06]
gac410anyway zak256 as a general rule, whenever you override a template, unless you are completely replacing it, you should always %TMPL:INCLUDE{" ... the same name, to pull in the original. [15:14]
zak256Yeah, I got that now.
Can you say anything about Item14495 ?
[15:15]
FoswikiBothttps://foswiki.org/Tasks/Item14495 [ Item14495: Including a table seems to break EDITTABLE quick edit feature ] [15:15]
gac410Ah... I see, I tried to recreate your issue and it "worked for me" but I wasn't clicking on the corner stain. [15:16]
zak256: This is one of those extensions with very complex design and javascript. Every time I've tried to delve into it, I get beaten soundly [15:27]
zak256:-( [15:27]
gac410It's probably down in the javascript where it tries to extract the value of the cell from the browser DOM, and is picking up the wrong cell.
It really needs a browser / javascript specialist
[15:28]
zak256Well the problem is not *that* serious. I understand when fixing it is not easy. Still wanted to report it though.
If all the other things are done and the wiki is successfully migrated, I might to start looking into one or the other task.
While I'm at it... there is a third thing: A colleague wanted to have icons in a radiobutton-select-box for an EditTable. And because %ICON{...}% does not get resolved, he added some "Smileys" to our SmileyPlugin topic which worked. But in the new version, even those smiley-strings don't get resolved anymore.
yeah, I know... icon and edittable again :(
So in short: Is there maybe any other easy possibility to use icons in an edittable?
Actually, there is an example here: https://foswiki.org/Extensions/EditTablePlugin
With a column "Mood" and some smileys within. But if you click the Edit button, you don't see the smileys like in the screenshot below but the strings.
I know these are just stupid issues, there doesn't have to be put a lot of work into this. But I know people will complain about that here.
[15:29]
..... (idle for 20mn)
LynnwoodA question on SolrPlugin and the solrconfig.xml file. Does one need to do anything to force reloading solrconfig.xml after modification or will changes there show up immediately? [15:57]
........ (idle for 35mn)
gac410zak256: It's unfortunate but reality that we need developers who take an interest in a bug, figure it out and fix it. There is a very low bar to get checking authority on our repository, or github fork can create your own copy of the repo for tinkering
Employeers often are willing to let workers fix & contribute back changes on open source that they are benefiting from. That's how I got started as a foswiki developer. Fixing the ancient GenPDFAddOn for my employeers needs.
[16:32]
zak256gac410: I know... as I said I will happily contribute if I have the time, but cannot do anything right now and just try getting the easy ones fixed.
Unfortunately people did just hack into the current wiki here and there without doing much documentation and without doing it "right". Now I have to look into all this and clean the mess up.
[16:34]
....... (idle for 31mn)

gac410The other option zak256 for bugs you find important is to consider hiring one of the wiki consultants to work on it. A lot of extensions started out as sponsored work. EditRowPlugin is primarily work of CrawfordCurrie, aka cdot [17:10]
